While I was in the hospital the bad news came out that we lost 4 good soldiers to an ambush in Niger in West Africa….NIGER?
I knew we had troops all over the world fighting and advising but sub-Saharan Niger….why?

I’m guessing the usual reasons. Untapped mineral resources, the chance of finding god or diamonds, even oil. Or just seeking to control another puppet government. One thing’s for sure, they are not there for altruistic reasons.
