I have been lax on my attention to the Middle East and I have no excuse other than the damn silly election is just too moronic to ignore…I tried…but I was weak….I hope to rectify my oversight.
As a student of international relations I am always looking at the US and its policies…..none of which bode well for the future…..
Because of its rush to war it is creating a world that all reason has vanished….
Based on US war policy, Russia factors in as the biggest and most important player in the strategic realignment with its insistence of a “multi-polar” world.
As the United States squanders the enormous good will and respect it once had by marching forward on the tired legs of a dying empire, the U.S.’ enemies-of-its-own-making are beginning to forge new alliances that might not have been a reality had the U.S. at the very least pursued a strategy of positive reinforcement and cooperation as opposed to a policy of tension, pillage, and war.
The first major crack in the iron curtain of the Anglo-American world hegemon started becoming apparent with the emergence of the U.S. destabilization and proxy war against Syria. While the NATO/American proxy war has left hundreds of thousands of Syrians dead, hundreds of thousands more displaced, and destroyed much of the Syrian infrastructure as well as crippled the Syrian economy, another result of American policy in Syria is that it has strengthened and even created alliances that otherwise may not have existed not only between Middle Eastern countries but European, Asian, and African nations as well.

When this election is completed we will have a brand new president…..and that carries significant weight in the world….but how will this country use this new chance at calming and ever hectic world?
Hint: Bombs are NOT the way!
Global Research has touched on what it calls “the invisible government”……
In 1929, he, Edward Bernays, persuaded feminists to promote cigarettes for women by smoking in the New York Easter Parade – behaviour then considered outlandish. One feminist, Ruth Booth, declared, “Women! Light another torch of freedom! Fight another sex taboo!” Bernays’ influence extended far beyond advertising. His greatest success was his role in convincing the American public to join the slaughter of the First World War.
The secret, he said, was “engineering the consent” of people in order to “control and regiment [them] according to our will without their knowing about it”.
He described this as “the true ruling power in our society” and called it an “invisible government”.
It will be fascinating to see how the “invisible government” will generate support for whatever tact the new president chooses…..will we continue our rush to war or will we find a calmer and compassionate way of dealing with the world?
My guess is if Clinton wins then the RUSH is on!
And I fear – the rush will be on! It will be the only way Clinton can keep her promises to her financial supporters. I continue to try and show what a total horrific event being in a war can be, but…. how many wars did you say we’re still in?
We are fighting at least 5 wars today…..and I try to do the same…people that have never experienced war have NO idea what it is like or how hard it is on the mind…..and I fear you are correct….Clinton is a war hawk plain and simple….
Historically and psychologically, “you” have a major problem: US foreign policy of “We came, we saw, they died” well established over the last century and equally well hidden in a mass of propaganda and lies via mass media propelled the empire into a cycle of greed and lust for blood of a magnitude perhaps never witnessed since the beginning of man’s civilization. Such a monstrous steam roller with so many powerful forces depending on its continuation puts the US in a stranglehold. It can neither stop nor control its drive to hegemony. As it drives itself to achieve its aims it will implode while eating and destroying everything and anyone coerced into filling the larder of its feeding frenzy. You are looking at a rogue “state” irretrievably gone off the rail. Even if a well-meaning POTUS was elected – say Jill Stein – against all odds, and say that internal forces actually saw some light, experienced some fear and uncertainty of continuing the military oppression madness, and tried to reverse course, those other forces, banksters, corporations, billionaires, and hate-driven tin pot dictatorships (Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, several African states and dysfunctional European “democracies” with coordination from the CIA and the Pentagon (NATO) would turn on common sense and destroy it. There would be a coup: that’s a given. This “thing” of greed and lust-driven power Americans and the world are so confused about having come to light in this US election campaign must now run its course. The last “desert storm” has begun. It will not end until the hegemon destroys itself. The destruction will not come from external forces or attacks from enemies: all they can do is try to protect themselves while the dragon blindly thrashes itself to death in agonies combined of fear, anger, hate, and ever-expanding delusions of world domination. This “thing” the world is witnessing is the death throes of something so evil, so utterly corrupt it blinds billions and drives them into total denial. The forest is burning and those living in it are still concerned about saving individual trees.
Exactly…the same thing I have been saying for years only yours is more elegant….chuq
While I have to mostly agree with the above comments, I’m afraid my tendency to look at the larger picture leads to only one conclusion, and, one short, pithy observation by a pretty smart person, to wit: “Stupid is as stupid does.” — Mama Gump
We are suffering the reality of existing on a bell curve; the sheer weight of human stupidity (which is, in us, a deliberate choice…) is crushing our entire society….
gigoid, the dubious
A Bell Curve? I like that….chuq
Everything we humans do falls somewhere on the bell curve, including our intelligence. Everything we touch, everything that happens, it all fits there on the curve, for the curve describes how our random nature fits into an ordered universe…. Try it sometime; take damn near anything, & apply the curve; you’ll find all our stuff right there….
gigoid
I shall but not before more coffee…LOL chuq
It is no secret that we have troops stationed in at least 130 places thoughout the world … we are spread way too thin …I believe much of our military effort is aimed at some kind of “Exportation of Democracy” which some people call “Nation Building” which I call an “Imperialist Tendency” and somewhere at the bottom of each involvement there always seems to be a price-per-pound on the blood and flesh of the troops who supporft the efforts. This is the ugly manifestation of a growing fascination and involvement in a societal monster once referred to by President Eisenhour as “The Military/Industrial Complex” and he warned us of the dangers of such a dependence many many years ago. Apparently people have forgotten his warnings or they have become gamblers who think they can beat the odds and make a profit in the doing of it. It certainly goes a long way toward putting Americans’ futures at some risk of becoming less than ideal. (Understated for effect.).
Almost everybody has forgotten Ike’s words except for those of us fighting American interventionism….good comment…thanx
