The previous post was about the profits that are being made from the M-IC….but they are not alone….and thanx to privatization many folk are getting rich….
Since the election of Reagan in 1980 I have been bitching about privatization of the government….it has invaded all parts of the government….intel gathering is the most scary for me…..since profits are everything to these contractors….. is it more important than the protection of the people?
I mean even the military is partially privatized…..that alone is another scary idea…..

Another “conservative” program that is biting the country in the ass….again.
Having served in the military and working alongside different contractors and foreign entities, it’s not so much the concept of privatization itself that bothers me as much as how… behind closed doors the whole policy making mechanisms are. I understand the need for occupational security, but considering that the military is designed to be in service of the will of the people, there don’t seem to be enough feedback loops between the general public and public officials (maybe a personal ideal would be a public discourse interface similar to that of Reddit, perhaps?)

Few presidents since FDR have given more a forceful defense of the role of government in creating a good society as President Obama has. Clearly, the vote tomorrow in Britain has those who are there in rather a stressed state, no matter which side of the issue they support…. and it is all an extension of the issue in this post, to wit: ‘privatization’ of government….
In my mind, and, in my experience, the use of the word itself is a dead giveaway, that what is being described is hidden, removed at least a degree from the actual true picture it is supposed to describe. There is another word which is, perhaps, more honest, if no less reprehensibly evil, to wit: “Lobbying”…. Each of these words describe a way corporate influence is brought to bear on the government. Whether in the US or in Europe, or Russia, or China, those who live to gather power and resources for their sole use work to influence the laws of each place, behind the scenes of the actual visible workings of legislatures, or bodies of governing by any other name.
I would suggest that anyone who wants a clear picture of today’s world read, or, re-read, George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. It gives a clear picture of exactly what we have, and are, witnessing in today’s world; though with different names than we hear in our world, the same issues of human nature, and the evil it can cause when allowed free rein.
I have never, ever understood how people can think lobbying was EVER a good idea. It makes no sense to allow corporate influence direct access to those who have the power to make law; it is a direct violation of the basic philosophy of a democracy, or any other society based on justice for the common man and woman. It’s just wrong, and we can only blame ourselves if we allow this usurpation of government by those who wish to control it all….
The whole Brexit issue is just another skirmish in this, which is the only real war we should be thinking about…. Freedom remains a personal responsibility, ffolkes. How long will you give it up, for free?
