The two “presumptive” nominees are all the rage now in the media…..and there are some of us trying to explain what has happened to our electoral process…..it is a bit difficult…..
The crisis that has made Trump’s victory a possibility isn’t about Trump. It’s about what’s happening to the American people.
The election news is all about Trump, 24/7, but the crisis that has made his victory a possibility and that would bring tyrannical folly in its wake it isn’t about Trump. It’s about what is happening to the American people.
What is happening to us is something that Trump embodies perfectly, in all his populist vulgarity. But no populist rhetoric of democracy can hide the truth that what’s happening to us is what’s being done to us.

Regardless who wins in November this country is in serious danger…..and the only ones that will pay the price for this ego trip are the American people.
This nation has become so ethnically and philosophically diverse and so divided that there is no evidence that there is such a thing anymore as the proverbial “American People.” There is a difference in referencing the people who live in America from what might pass for “Citizens” because “Citizens” implies some kind of commmitment to a standard … a standard … a brand … something that shares commonality in spirit as well as in location …. We have become a conglomeration of little “Nations” within the larger Nation and I think the concept of “The American People” is now obsolete and archaic and no longer applies.
We have always been a mongrel country (not derogatory just meaning a mixture) so what is the answer? Do we need to break down in our little “state’s rights” enclaves or do we3 rise above the pathetic name calling and pathetic little “situations” and become the country we can be?
We know what is needed butg not everybody operates on the higher planes of intelligence, philosophy and government. We know what is needed but those among us who have powers of observation and a little intuitive judgement can be relatively comfortable in realizing that we are always going to be that “Mongrel” country until the end.
I think it is what made this country great…
