We have all heard the cat calls from both sides of the aisle on the 2011 budget, which if these silly little people do not agree on something then government will shut down…..I will let that go….most everyone knows my thoughts on that…..and instead let us look at the proposal that whiz kid Paul Ryan (conservs title for him…not mine) has come up with for 2012…..
Here are a couple of ideas from the GOP as spoken through Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin…….
House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan is expected to put out his 2012 proposed budget resolution.
Taking on entitlements: Ryan said his budget resolution would propose overhauling Medicare, the health care program for seniors, and Medicaid, which provides health benefits to the poor and disabled. Spending on the entitlement programs is one of the biggest drivers of the country’s future debt.
He said the proposals in the resolution would be similar to those he proposed most recently with longtime budget expert Alice Rivlin, who served as President Clinton’s budget director and founded the independent Congressional Budget Office.
The resolution would convert the federal government’s Medicaid payments into a block grant to be allocated among states. Currently, federal payments to states are determined by a formula.
(Remember the fine label of “death panels”….well Ryan and the boyz will be creating just that…states will not use any funds for the poor they will most likely go to financing tax breaks business…I know it would in my state)
Cutting spending: The GOP resolution would roll back so-called discretionary spending to 2006 levels,………Ryan told Fox News that the GOP budget resolution would cap all spending as a percentage of the economy at levels equal to the historical average. He didn’t offer a specific percentage……..
(will be interesting to see how they handle any national crisis that requires the government to step in…..this is lame….lame at best!)
Reforming the tax code: Ryan said the resolution would call for pro-growth tax reform that would lower tax rates and broaden the tax base — which typically means eliminating tax breaks. He didn’t say which breaks or specify whether he was talking about the individual tax code, the corporate tax code or both.
Sources familiar with the plan told CNN that Ryan’s plan would make permanent the Bush-era tax cuts, which, under a compromise with President Obama, were extended last year through 2012.
(tax code will favor anyone that has a large amount of cash on hand…..working people are screwed….NO matter how appealing they make it sound…..you will be SCREWED!)
Once again….these are just recycling of ideas that would fly 20 years ago….but the GOP is excited about the Tea Party involvement….it may help them pass this stuff and we can KISS the middle class….GOOD-BYE! (seniors screwed….poor screwed….corporations smile and enjoy the privilege)
Washington has become a vending machine……money in……laws out!
This should provide an idea of where the budget and where the GOP is going……..
Ryan: “We don’t have a tax problem, we have a people-want-us-to-spend-on-things-we-could-afford-if-corporations-paid-tax problem”……gee…I TOLD YOU SO! (We have a revenue problem more than a spending problem)
I’m not sure I see where the corporations think they will find customers if the majority of the people are screwed.
I agree with that…..like I keep saying….we have a revenue more so than a spending problem…..without revenue we got nothing….
Ryan told Fox News Sunday that his plan would cut more than 4 trillion exceeding the targets set for the next decade by the presidents bipartisan debt commission. By cutting spending reforming entitlements and growing the economy said Ryan who was a member of the debt commission.Taking on entitlements Ryan said his budget resolution would propose overhauling Medicare the health care program for seniors and Medicaid which provides health benefits to the poor and disabled. And in the process he asserted we save Medicare save Medicaid.Under his proposal he said spending for each of the programs would still go up every year just not at as fast a rate as would otherwise be the case.Ryan is the only Republican who has offered concrete proposals in the past to reform Medicare and Medicaid. He said the proposals in the resolution would be similar to those he proposed most recently with longtime budget expert Alice Rivlin who served as President Clintons budget director and founded the independent Congressional Budget Office. The resolution would convert the federal governments Medicaid payments into a block grant to be allocated among states.
Hey off…thanx for stopping by…..first talk with Rivlin….she said not so…..but it is good rhetoric to mention a Dem….Block grants to states…now there is a good idea (sarcasm) the states will spend the cash anywhere but where it is suppose to go…..my gov is an expert at that…Barbour.
There is NOTHING new in this proposal….it is same things they have been trying to do since the 80’s, probably monger…..reform programs that are they hate out of existence…..there is NOTHING noble or courageous in his proposal….NOTHING!~
In the UK, ALL medical care is free at the point of delivery. Everyone has the right to use it. It has its problems, but we’re still better off than you guys! Sorry, but that’s true.
I don’t agree entirely with our system, but it could be fixed and still no citizen who actually NEEDED medical care would lose out. All we really need to do is to stop some of the more “frivolous” (IMO) services currently offered and (more importantly) get the majority of the goddamned bureaucrats OUT of the service.
I agree with the bureaucrat thing…but then if we could count on everyone doing the proper thing…then bureaucrats are not needed….but unfortunately greed and avarice is the rule of the day….so some bureaucrats are needed…IMO….and ues…we are soooooo SCREWED!
