Finally the weekend has arrived and I can take a much needed break…..but unlike most weekends I want to post something that has me a bit irritated……
Like I say in my “about” section of IST….I am an opinionated SOB. I try to help people understand what is happening in the world….NO I am not by any means an expert but since I am an old fart there is a wealth of experience in my life from which I can draw…..
My day consist of lots of reading…..news sites and blogs…..and when I read something that I feel is misinformation or worse I try to tell the writer where I believe that they may be mistaken…
This has come to a halt….for some of the people do not want to hear that their thinking maybe flawed….these people lash out and refuse to understand what I am trying to impart to them.
These people have made up their minds about Muslims or Afro-Americans or the immigrants/refugees…..and anyone that imparts some wisdom on their thinking is wrong or naive or just plain stupid….these people refuse to accept that their thought process maybe erroneous and that the info that they reprint is not gospel….simply because it is what they want it to be……..not one of these people has anything to relate to other than “he said, she said”….and if you do not agree with them you are labeled…basically they are doing what they accuse others of doing…..
Each one of these people will predictably say that someone will call them a racist or something else….and then they use negative words to describe those they write about….words like swarm, pack, etc…….or they use an insult like “The Religion Of Peace” in a derogatory manner….all intended to do just what it does….insults the group that they feel somehow threatens their way of life…….
I have read posts that denigrate Muslims, the poor and entitlement users…..I have in the past set about explaining that I had not witnessed the things that they are accused of doing…..I worked in the Middle East and lived with a Muslim family…..I was treated with the utmost respect….I have also worked with the poor……I was employed by the local state Housing Authority and dealt with people that needed welfare daily…..in my time I have NOT witnessed any of the stuff that these people have been accused of doing or thinking…..but that matters not……
For these reasons are why that I try not to let too much of my personal experiences appear in blogs….for it matters not what I tell these people…..it will NEVER get through to them that they are way off base in their accusations. I will however, share my experiences with anyone that truly wants to know and to learn from what I have experienced.
The insults are nothing new….I have been called all sorts of names in the past…..mostly by people that have no idea what I am like……the same people that insult the crap out of someone they have never met or probably never had a conversation with……
Sorry to be a bummer……this is just something I had to get off my chest….
Now let’s go out and enjoy the weekend….shall we?
TY I appreciate the help….chuq
Boo to the close minded thinking…that is the clean version of my comment.
I know…I wrote that post several times before it was clean enough for me to post
Reblogged this on Ned Hamson's Second Line View of the News.
Thanx for the re-blog…I appreciate the help…..chuq
You, my friend are an angel……….I am just about back….with vengeance…saith the lord…
Thank you….I appreciate the kind words….chuq
I agree that experience is worth something!
I remember when I didn’t have the proverbial pot and the welfare people looked me in the face and said, “Mr. Liming, you have caused your own problems so we have decided not to help you.”
My family of myself, my wife and my three kids moved into a roach eaten flat in Morrow, Ohio where there was no heat and all the roaches one could want to eat — in a town that had been flooded out and never rebuilt — a town inhabited by nothing but the indigent, Third Generation welfare dependents, drunks, dopers, perverts … Sometimes we got down to a single potatoe to share between us ….
However the “Minorities” seemed to have little difficulty working the system and living like kings and queens on the dole provided by gratutious members of Uncle Sugar’s humanitarian welfare outreaches.
Yes, experience is worth something …. I have had plenty of it and some as hard as anyone could imagine … but I was determined to work my way out of it and I did and I got my feet back on solid ground through sheer determination that would have made Scarlett Ohara proud … and to this day I absolutely refuse to reach into my more-than-overflowing pockets to give a single cent to any so-called charity because when I needed it so desperately it wasn’t there for me.
Yes, I am well aware of experience!
John, I have not seen the wide spread abuse you describe….of course there will be those that game the system but that also applies to corporations….I do not give either…..that is because I do not believe there should be a need for them……I will donate to food banks….
I was once an ordained minister in a local mission ministry and I have seen the welfare-dependent come and take away large amounts of food from the “Helping Hands” organization and take it down to Miranda Street and Miami Avenue and barter it away for cigarettes, beer, booze and dope and then live on their food stamps or whatever they could earn working occasional under-the-table jobs or pan handling — or in the case of Miami Avenue ( which the city has now pretty much bulldozed) — selling their physical favors.
I saw it here, I saw it in major metro areas of Ohio, Mississippi, Texas, Michigan as well …
Food banks are fair game for the gamers and they take full advantage of them.
I have always maintained that food banks need to keep background information on anyone that comes to them for handouts.
I have seen fairly hefty ladies in late-model cars carting boxes of food away from our Helping Hands organization.
Are not food banks a charity? I was talking about government programs that many seem to think are being abused by all poor/immigrants…
I know of at least one case where the individual went to the library to study books about symptoms of mental illness so he could pretend to be mentally impaired and he used his acquired knowledge to convince doctors to certify him as unable to work and thus he was able to get onto a lifetime of free checks every month under the social security supplemental income program and his boast was, “I never intend to punch a time clock” and he was a known alcoholic and pot head. He worked various jobs “Under the table” for pittances in addition to his income from Uncle Sugar — I know of another one that managed to get knee replacements via Medicaid when refused by the VA for similar reasons — I could cite dozens of such cases — but what’s the use? — The abuse is rampant and there is a whole department of government dedicated to searching out and prosecuting welfare fraud cases — and yess immigrants are defrauding the government for all kinds of welfare programs and are getting away with it using easily-accessible counterfeit identification cards and all kinds of clever little ploys designed to game the system –but I am certain that you will probably believe there are so few of these cases that they do not really make a dent in the budget or maybe you have never seen any such in your experiences — which is alright because all our experiences are different — but I have been smack dab in the middle of this quagmire and I have seen many things … deplorable things.
But does that mean widespread “freeloading”? Humans will game any system….like people that refuse to pay their taxes while bitching about the poor that pay few taxes….
I still have not seen widespread abuse….I have witnessed abuses but none of them bought a Cadillac….I can only speak of what I have seen like you speak to what you have seen….I have heard many horror stories….unless I can confirm I do not speak to all of them….In the past I gave readers a perfect test to check out stuff…I am sure that makes me a “bleeding heart” for even suggesting that one do some confirmation….so be it…..I will continue to seek verification….I refuse to be a follower because of ideological belief….
I agree with your choice of what to believe and the circumstances under which you choose to believe … that is one of the most wonderful things about America.
The most perfect “Test” is to get immersed in the culture where all this is going on and see for yourself ..
“Bleeding Heart?” Nothing wrong with being a “Bleeding Heart.” Jesus of Nazareth was probably the most famous bleeding heart of all and He is pretty cool with me and a few million others … nothing wrong with being a bleeding heart ..it is a matter of privilege and choice just like everything else …
A little aside here: There are people who call themselves Christians who absolutely refuse to believe in the existence of a person devil but their disbelief in the existence of a devil does not guarantee his non-existence … the same with some Atheists … Just because they do not believe in the existence of God does not guarantee that it is not the very God they do not believe in who is leading them to disbelieve so that at some future date when they encounter some life-threatening calamity they can have an epiphany and finally realize they have only God to depend on.
It’s all relative.
I have been deep in the mire with these leeches … and for a while I was one of the leeches myself …
Yes there is widespread freeloading!
The estimated cost of the freeloading and the fraud is estimated to be about 9% of the entire cost of the systems themselves or $90,000 for every million in benefits paid out of the welfare and social safety net systems.
Our welfare and safety net programs are estimated to cost about $742-Billion per year so the fraud would consume at least $66-Billion a year.
John, I wish I could take your word with this but if you have a link then please send it I would like to check it out….thanx….
Like I have said I worked for the housing authority which is part of these programs…..the abuse I saw were people using the section 8 housing….

Okay thanx…I have a lot to do today so it may take me a day or so before I can concentrate on it….but I appreciate the link….chuq

John, my research says that about 1.9% is the fraud or abuse stat….I tried to find about anti-fraud prosecutions but most of the info is about the UK….I know that the housing authority I worked for prosecuted 3 people for fraud while I was there for a total of $175,ooo…..
I read a couple of things that I wanted to pass on…

I know that some will say that it is biased and may well be….but no more so than some of the right wing stuff….
Thanx for the links and the debate….chuq
Bias is cool! Bias is everywhere. There is no escaping Bias. Bias is Human Nature at work. Everything I write is biased because I like to stir the pot and get people riled. — and make them stop and do some thinking in the process.
