After New Hampshire

College of Political Knowledge

#3 in series

The front runners before Iowa and New Hampshire seem to be dwindling in their leadership…Warren and Biden….

Let’s start with Biden…..

Biden has done everything he can to make himself look better than all other Dems….and so far he has been a dud…a flop…..

Candidates who flame out early in presidential primaries, almost by definition, do not make history. But Joe Biden may be an exception. Biden’s presidential campaign is now almost certain to fail, but he has done more than any other candidate to shape the outcome. And the result is likely to be disastrous — for Biden’s personal legacy and political agenda.

Biden has run for president three times. He has not yet managed to finish higher than fourth in any primary or caucus. Biden may, or may not, have been a good enough politician to win a presidential campaign in his prime. He is now well past his prime. His campaigning pace is languid, his debate performances unsettling. And he hasn’t built the kind of campaign apparatus that could drag him over the finish line. He has far fewer endorsements than a traditional Establishment favorite, and his organization has underperformed in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Now Warren……

Sorry but Warren’s campaign has fallen far short from the proposal that she could bridge the gap between Bernie and the Centrists…..far short…..

Elizabeth Warren’s presidential hopes are looking dim. After a third-place finish at the Iowa caucuses, she is heading for a distant fourth in New Hampshire, with less than 10 percent of the vote. Her progressive rival Bernie Sanders is leading the Democratic primary and appears to be consolidating support from the party’s left wing. Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar are winning over college-educated women, cutting away another key part of Warren’s base. In a speech Tuesday night, the senator from Massachusetts seemed to assure supporters that she wouldn’t drop out any time soon. “We might be heading for one of those long primary fights that last for months. We’re two states in,” Warren said. But it’s unclear how, exactly, she could make a comeback at this point.

It’s a sad denouement for a once-promising candidate who seemed capable of bridging the party’s left and its establishment and who could articulate a progressive vision for the country without the baggage of referring to herself as a socialist. She laid out a sweeping agenda and injected bold policy ideas like mass student debt forgiveness and a wealth tax into the center of the race. She terrorized billionaires, who wept on television at the thought of her presidency. This fall, as she surged to a slim lead in national polls, Warren briefly seemed like a legitimate front-runner. But then, within a couple of months, it all fell apart.

Both campaigns have become dismal failures in their promises to the donors and the people…..there is a chance that Biden could pull a rabbit out of his political hat but I do not see much hope for Warren as it is today.

Warren–Pro War

#1 in a series…..

College of Political KNowledge

The voting has started  and I would like to give a few thoughts about the so-called “front runners”….

I will start with Warren.

Most readers know I am antiwar and that I pick my candidates by their stands on foreign policy……

I also try to give my reader a broad look at the candidates no matter the party…….this time it is the Dems.

One of the so-called top tier candidates is Sen. Elizabeth Warren….we know what the MSM wants us to know so since they have been silent on the candidates and their war connections I did some research…..

Warren seems to have a pile of war mongers in her team……

Elizabeth Warren has promised “big, structural change” on a range of issues related to the economy. Warren has a plan for foreign policy, too, but it appears to be scarcely different from that of the last Democrat to occupy the White House.

A close examination of Warren’s newly assembled team of international advisors presents little hope of change from the military interventionism, regime change strong-arming and drone warfare that characterized the administration of President Barack Obama.

Earlier this month, Warren foreign policy aide Sasha Baker revealed a list of 34 “friends, colleagues, and advisors” that formed the foundation of the candidate’s foreign policy team. For the first time, observers were offered a clear window into what US foreign policy might look like under a Warren presidency.

Woke wonk Elizabeth Warren’s foreign policy team is stacked with pro-war swamp creatures

This one topic will prevent from voting for a candidate that is that deep into the M-IC.

No I am not that naive but I do believe that there is a candidate that is opposed to war and I am supporting her until she gets eliminated and then I will do some re-evaluation to find another candidate for the presidency of the United States.

I do a lot more work at picking a candidate than most voters…I refuse to settle and most Americans are fine with a candidate that is not offensive.

Warren And Medicare For All

All the major candidates have offered up their plans for health care….most want either a Medicare For All type of thing or they want to “reform” the ACA to make it better…..

I keep trying to stay ahead of all the BS swirling around the one idea that has the health industry running scared….https://lobotero.com/2019/10/28/can-we-afford-medicare-for-all/

One of the last major candidate to offer up her plan for a Medicare For All and how to pay for it is Warren…..and now we have her plan and let the criticism begin…..

Elizabeth Warren promised Friday to spend more than $20 trillion over the next decade to provide government-funded health care to every American without raising middle-class taxes—finally offering ideas about how to implement the massive “Medicare for All” program without taking a larger bite out of most Americans’ salaries. Her plan, posted online, is built on transferring to the government 98% of the $8.8 trillion she estimates that employers would spend on private insurance for their employees, per the AP. Remaining costs would be covered by “taxes on big corporations, Wall Street, and the top 1%—and enforcing the tax laws we have now,” she explains. “My Medicare for All plan gives everyone good insurance and cuts their health care costs to nearly zero—without increasing middle-class taxes one penny,” Warren says.

Companies with fewer than 50 employees would be exempted, and Warren said employers already offering health benefits reached under collective bargaining agreements will be allowed to reduce how much they send to federal coffers—provided they pass those savings on to employees. If the program fails to raise $8.8 trillion, Warren says she’d impose a supplemental contribution requirement for big companies “with extremely high executive compensation and stock buyback rates.” A critical question is how she’d slash the cost of her plan well below what experts have said it would take to implement it. Coming up with lower payment rates for hospitals and doctors that avoid disrupting the system would be a big challenge for a Warren administration and for Congress, where her plan could bog down.

Of course the critics are telling all sorts of consequences for her plan….but here is an industry whistleblower to explain it better…..

Now that we’ve seen Senator Elizabeth Warren’s plan to pay for Medicare for All without raising taxes on the middle class, let me tell you what is happening in Washington.

Forbes Tate, the Washington-based PR firm hired by big insurance, drug and hospital companies to create and run a front group called the Partnership for America’s Health Care Future, will already have convened an urgent conference call with its clients to go over Warren’s plan and begin implementing a strategy to attack it. A big part of that strategy will be to reach out to reliable industry allies to do the dirty work.

One of those allies is likely to be the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), a supposedly nonpartisan organization that issued a widely publicized report on October 28 insisting that, as Axios reported in its analysis of the report, “the middle class would be forced to shoulder some of the burden” of financing Medicare for All.

A health insurance whistleblower reveals how the industry will lie and attack Elizabeth Warren’s Medicare for All plan

Personally, It is time for a true health plan for ever person in this nation regardless of station in the society…..the industry has raped the people longer enough…..time for them to step up and be part of this country.

Warren On The Rise

Biden has been the Dem front runner for the 2020 nomination but in the last week or so Warren has been gaining on Uncle Joe…..and in a new poll in Iowa she has zipped past Biden….

There is a new top dog in Iowa polling, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren having put the nation’s former No. 2 politician Joe Biden firmly into the No. 2 spot: She now leads him 22% to 20%, marking the first time the former vice president has trailed in the Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom Iowa Poll, CNN reports. That’s up seven percentage points for Warren and down three for Biden. Bernie Sanders trails at 11%, but is the only other candidate in double digits; the Vermont senator, however, has dropped five percentage points since the last poll in June

So with the rise in the polls she will be lots of scrutiny that may have been missed while she was an also ran…..

So let me begin this scrutiny……

Warren has said she wants lobbyists out of the governing process…..or does she?

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren hired a Planned Parenthood lobbyist to a key role in her presidential campaign Tuesday, just one day after Warren announced a plan that would “end lobbying as we know it.”

Warren unveiled an anti-corruption plan Monday that would introduce a “cooling off” period for lobbyists before they can serve in government roles and would prohibit active lobbyists from donating to political campaigns, a practice Warren called “legalized bribery.”

“The fundamental promise of our democracy is that every voice matters,” Warren’s plan states. “But when lobbyists and big corporations can buy influence from politicians, that promise is broken. The first thing to do to fix it is to end lobbying as we know it.”

The next day, Kimberly Diaz Scott, who registered as a lobbyist for the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates as recently as January 2019, announced that she was leaving the organization to head up Warren’s campaign in Florida.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Take a moment and wax nostalgic…….a song from my youth…..ah the memories!

But in this case it is not some song from my past but rather a proposal from 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, Elizabeth Warren……

She has a proposal to break-up giants like amazon, Google and Facebook……along the lines of the break-up of AT&T in the 1980s into regional entities……

Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveiled her plan for how to break up the nation’s technology behemoths on Friday.

The Democratic senator from Massachusetts, who’s seeking the Democratic nomination for president, laid out her proposal in a Medium post entitled “Here’s How We Can Break Up Big Tech.” In the post, Warren argued that it’s essential to crack down on the unfair market advantage enjoyed by Amazon, Facebook, and Google in order to boost competition and fuel innovation.

Fordham law professor Zephyr Teachout praised the plan, calling it as a sign that a “new anti-monopoly movement is happening, and Warren is coming out swinging at the right targets!” Agreeing with Warren, she added, “The big tech monsters are conglomerates with too much power that they use to extract wealth and data from all us of us as if we are subjects in their feudal regimes.”

Personally, I like the idea…..but if her consumer protection agency from the 2000s is any indication this will nit go very far…….if the Senate does not crap on the proposal then the big money donors will chip away at it until it is just a shadow of the original proposal.

Elizabeth Warren wants a fair playing field in the marketplace—and she’s going after Big Tech to make it happen. “To restore the balance of power in our democracy, to promote competition, and to ensure that the next generation of technology innovation is as vibrant as the last, it’s time to break up our biggest tech companies,” she said in a statement Friday, per the New York Times. Her plan to bust up giants like Facebook, Google, and Amazon is a two-tiered one: First, large firms with annual global revenue of $25 billion or more that offer an online marketplace or other type of platform that connects third parties would have to “structurally separate” their products from that marketplace. What that means, for example, is that if you do a Google search for a restaurant, Google can’t give its own ratings priority over, say, Yelp’s, notes Vox.

The second tier—companies with annual revenue between $90 million and $25 billion—wouldn’t be subject to that same sort of product-marketplace separation, but they would have to adhere to certain fair-use regulations. Another big move Warren’s plan is pushing for: reversing some recent mergers that the 2020 presidential candidate says cut down down healthy competition, including Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram, as well as Amazon scooping up Whole Foods. This move, Warren says, “will put pressure on big tech companies to be more responsive to user concerns, including about privacy.” Critics commenting on Warren’s proposal fear such a plan could lead to the “weaponizing” of antitrust laws (lawmakers could go after companies they don’t like), per the Times, or reduce convenience for consumers, Ars Technica notes

This is fascinating……I want to see where it will go……I like it, as I have said…..this should have been done years ago…..

Any thoughts out there?

Sen. Warren: Her Time Is Now!

2016 will become an all consuming debate next year……the media needs this to look as relevant as possible…..the pundits need it because they have nothing else going for them…….and we bloggers need her so that it is not a Hillary dominated diatribe.

There is lots of speculation whether she will run or not in 2016…..my thought is…….. please run!  But what are the odds that she will throw her hat?

Elizabeth Warren has come out swinging against her own party on two contentious issues in recent weeks—and it could be a sign she’s moving closer to a presidential run, writes Danny Vinik at the New Republic. First, the senator opposed President Obama’s nomination of investment banker Antonio Weiss for the number-three position at the Treasury department, arguing in the Huffington Post that his nomination contributed to a message “that whatever goes wrong in this economy, the Wall Street banks will be protected first.”

This week, Warren took on the new spending bill, slamming a rider that derailed part of Dodd-Frank financial reform. The measure, she said on the Senate floor, “would let derivatives traders on Wall Street gamble with taxpayer money and get bailed out by the government when their risky bets threaten to blow up our financial system.” Once again, she was going against President Obama, who supported the bill, which eventually passed the House. Both these issues “hold significant appeal for the Democratic base that believes Obama has grown too close to Wall Street and worries that (Hillary) Clinton will be more of the same,” Vinik writes. Warren’s press secretary still says she “isn’t running for president,” but that doesn’t mean she won’t. Click for the full piece.

I can tell you that the true Left is been wanting since Bubba ran…….he tapped into a more liberal Repub base more than you would think…….Hil is going after that same base when she decides to run……once again the Left will be wanting and that is where Warren comes into the picture…….

Progressives dearly want Elizabeth Warren to run for president, even if conventional wisdom suggests that as a populist candidate, she doesn’t stand much of a chance of beating Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. But “something is in the air,” observes David Brooks in the New York Times. The Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases have raised anger on the left, and Democrats in general are moving into “opposition status” ahead of the next Congress, writes Brooks. He expects that “this aggressive outsider spirit” will only grow.

Warren taps into this combative mood perfectly. “Clinton is obviously tough, but she just can’t speak with a clear voice against Wall Street and Washington insiders,” writes Brooks. In an interview with NPR yesterday, Warren repeated the phrase, “I am not running for president” three times, but she’s got plenty of time to change her mind. “The fundamental truth is that every structural and historical advantage favors Clinton, but every day more Democrats embrace the emotion and view defined by Warren,” writes Brooks. Click for his full column.

The big question is….if she runs can she win?  In my mind…YES….but I am not a typical Democratic voter…….regardless she should run to keep Clinton from being crowned the “leader” per-maturily.

Elizabeth Warren Insists She’s Not Running for President. These Activists Are Trying to Change Her Mind. | The Nation

It is not secret that I am not a fan of the Clintons….in my mind Bubba did more to cause the 2008 crash more than GW…..so to say that I will not be a Hillary supporter is an understatement…….

Personally, I would like to see a woman run for prez….just not a Clinton…….how about a Warren?

Sen. Bernie Sanders: Man Of The People

There are not many in Washington that I would give the time of day……my two faves are Eliz.. Warren and Bernie Sanders……I have been a fan of Sanders since his days in state politics in Vermont……he has consistently been a person of the people…..there have been others that I respected their time in DC but not many…..

Sanders has always been a proponent of the poor and the middle class……he has been vocal and demanding….few in DC would listen and even fewer would have his back when it came to the nut cutting……

He and Warren are making a dynamite one two punch…….the Left is very fortunate to have these two people as their spokesperson…….Sen. Warren let the Congress have it over the latest government funding bill…..she withheld NO punches.

Remember 2008….I know it is a sore subject that few want to revisit……but to solve the problem from ever happening again there was a call to break up the big banks and eliminate the “too big too fail” syndrome where the taxpayer had to cover them for their bad business practices…….Sanders is trying again to do the right thing for the country with his 12 point plan………

Sanders detailed a 12-point economic program to,

– Invest in our crumbling infrastructure with a major program to create jobs by rebuilding roads, bridges, water systems, waste water plants, airports, railroads and schools.

– Transform energy systems away from fossil fuels to create jobs while beginning to reverse global warming and make the planet habitable for future generations.

– Develop new economic models to support workers in the United States instead of giving tax breaks to corporations which ship jobs to low-wage countries overseas.

– Make it easier for workers to join unions and bargain for higher wages and benefits.

– Raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour so no one who works 40 hours a week will live in poverty.

– Provide equal pay for women workers who now make 78 percent of what male counterparts make.

– Reform trade policies that have shuttered more than 60,000 factories and cost more than 4.9 million decent-paying manufacturing jobs.

– Make college affordable and provide affordable child care to restore America’s competitive edge compared to other nations.

– Break up big banks. The six largest banks now have assets equivalent to 61 percent of our gross domestic product, over $9.8 trillion. They underwrite more than half the mortgages in the country and issue more than two-thirds of all credit cards.

– Join the rest of the industrialized world with a Medicare-for-all health care system that provides better care at less cost.

– Expand Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and nutrition programs.

– Reform the tax code based on wage earners’ ability to pay and eliminate loopholes that let profitable corporations stash profits overseas and pay no U.S. federal income taxes.

I have NO problem with his plan…..which is unusual for I seldom find a plan coming out of the Senate that I agree with…….Americans need to get informed and back Sanders plan…….another 2008 is only a tick away from happening again…….

Because of the collective ignorance of the American people will ensure that we will face another economic crash…..and this one may not be as easy to repair as the last…….

Keep your head in the sand and you will make it possible for more suffering of the American people……I know most could care less about their fellow Americans and that is why we are doomed to keep making the same mistake time and time again……..
