GOP: The Little Dude That Couldn’t

2016 just got a little more silly……..nope not talking about the entry of Trump into the campaign……but rather that silly little governor from Louisiana that has the worse possible rating at home…….and now it is official…….the clown car has truly arrived!

The problem is he should have run 4 years ago when his political capital was at a high…..now he is just a silly little dude trying to make a name for himself and pad his political resume to add more cash to his speaking tours…..

There’s always room for one more: “My name is Bobby Jindal, and I am running for President of the United States of America.” So declared the Louisiana governor today. The 44-year-old Indian-American is low in most polls, however, and faces steep odds. One typical example of coverage: FiveThirtyEight calls him a strong candidate—if this were 2012. NPR, meanwhile, rounds up some odds and ends about him, including:

  • Given name: He was born Piyush Jindal in Louisiana, but asked to be called Bobby at age 4—after Bobby Brady of the Brady Bunch.
  • Rhodes scholar: He turned down Harvard Medical School and Yale Law School to attend Oxford as a Rhodes scholar and study health policy. He then ran his home state’s health department at age 24.
  • Bad impression: He was a given a huge opportunity to make his name by delivering the GOP response to President Obama’s first congressional address in 2009. Instead, he drew comparisons to Kenneth on 30 Rock.

Gov. Bobby Jindal has wrecked the state of Louisiana and now he wants to take the carnage national. Jindal announced on Twitter that he is running for president.

When Jindal took office in 2008, the state had a $900 million budget surplus that the governor managed to turn into a $1.6 billion deficit through trickle-down tax cuts. He has doubled the state’s unemployment rate while refusing to raise taxes. Jindal has become reviled in his state by slashing funding for education and healthcare. Gov. Jindal tried to replace the state tax with a much higher sales tax, but he had to pull the plan after both Democrats and Republican rebelled.

Now that is a record of a true American candidate……..

Only good thing about a Jindal candidacy is that he will be a perfect fit for the clown car……

I thought the GOP candidates were clowns…..but there are some of the religious types that make the GOP field look like Einstein…….

I have been reading about the “Blood Moon” thingy on blogs……I have wanted to write something but I just could not take any of it seriously…..sadly there are many that do take it seriously….

It is a silly notion….but read it for yourself……about the only thing this thing is good for is an idea for one of those grade B scifi movies….it might rival “Sharknado”………

50 Shades Of Bored

I do not normally do movie reviews….for one, my taste is different than most people and two, it is boring.  But it is the weekend and with all the hoopla I thought I would break with tradition…..

When I heard that one character was named Anastasia …I said a bet a woman wrote the book……NO self-respecting guy would have a character named that……(nope I have not read the book….I do not do fiction)…….

Since it was released yesterday and I happen to see a few reports on the movie I thought I would pass it on……

The wait is over for EL James fans who’ve pined three long years for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele to get it on on the big screen. But audiences are giving Fifty Shades of Grey just a 57% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics are even less impressed:

  • Courtney Shea spots a glaring issue right off the bat: There’s “definitely not enough” sex. Writing for the Globe and Mail, she says “theater-goers must sit through scene after scene of snoozy phallic imagery” before the “strangely sterile” sex. “Nobody sweats or pants or experiences onscreen ecstasy, which is presumably how a movie about violent sex manages to avoid an NC-17 rating, but the result feels like 50 shades of beige.”
  • Steven Rea is on the same page. “Isn’t the stuff of bondage and discipline, sexual role play, silky blindfolds, and whips and floggers supposed to be, well, exciting?” he writes at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Instead it feels “lethargic,” he writes, and the cast is partly to blame. While Dakota Johnson as Ana “is easily this movie’s most pleasant surprise,” her co-star Jamie Dornan as Christian is “boring” and “one-note.”
  • “The movie version of Fifty Shades is better than the book,” writes Joe Williams at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “It’s still awful, but when a filmmaker starts with stupid source material, he’s handcuffed,” he quips. “The likably coy Johnson has no chemistry” with Dornan, whom he actually calls “a casting disaster.” Overall, “this is soft-core commercialism without a trace of real-world relevance.”
  • Meredith Goldstein at the Boston Globe wasn’t quite so turned off. EL James’ book “was stripped of its worst parts and turned into a surprisingly warm screenplay,” she writes. Johnson “saves the day,” manages to transform the book “into an unexpected romantic comedy,” and makes Anastasia Steele “seem like someone worth knowing.” Meanwhile, Dornan gives “constant constipation face.”

A side note……I live in Mississippi and the right wing wacko group, American Family Assn, is home based in Tupelo, a city in the North of the state……The AFA defined itself as “a Christian organization promoting the biblical ethic of decency in American society with primary emphasis on television and other media,” later switching their stated emphasis to “moral issues that impact the family………well AFA is bad mouthing the movie as a way to destroy the country and society…..but it seems that Tupelo is not listening and the first 4 shows are sold out……and that was what I wanted to report on….it just took me awhile to get to the point…..LOL

Huckabee Has The Answer!

One name being batted around for the GOP nomination is one Huckabee or Huck-a-buck or….well you pick a description for this mental midget.  Back in 2008 when he ran for this prestigious position he was joined by Walker Texas Ranger….Chuck Norris….I do hope that happens again so I may return to calling it the “Huck And Chuck Show”…….a comedy of errors.

Enough of my jocularity….let’s get to what this post is about….of course being a Baptist preacher he will have lots to say about gays and their rights……but he made a statement recently that made me laugh out loud……..

As Mike Huckabee feels out a 2016 presidential campaign, he’s evidently not suddenly going after the gay vote: The former governor of Arkansas tells CNN today that, as a Christian, asking him to accept gay marriage is akin to “asking someone who’s Jewish to start serving bacon-wrapped shrimp in their deli.” He adds that while he has friends who are gay and that he doesn’t shut people “out of my life because they have a different point of view,” he likens homosexuality to a lifestyle choice, like swearing or drinking. “I don’t drink alcohol, but gosh—a lot of my friends, maybe most of them, do. You know, I don’t use profanity, but believe me, I’ve got a lot of friends who do. Some people really like classical music and ballet and opera—it’s not my cup of tea.”

And don’t look for Huckabee to undergo President Obama’s famous “evolution” on the issue: “This is not just a political issue. It is a biblical issue. And as a biblical issue, unless I get a new version of the scriptures, it’s really not my place to say, OK, I’m just going to evolve.” He continues: “We’re so sensitive to make sure we don’t offend certain religions, but then we act like Christians can’t have the convictions that they’ve had for 2,000 years.” (Huckabee recently dinged the Obamas for letting their kids listen to Beyonce, whose dancing is “best left for the privacy of her bedroom.“)

What got me tickled was not the gay stuff for I have come to expect that infantile crap from religious mental midgets but his comment that cursing is a lifestyle……

Really?

I admit it….I curse like a drunken sailor….but mine is not a lifestyle I choose….it is more my minds reaction to the insanity and lack of comprehension by my fellow Americans…..and a coping device for me to keep from choking the living sh*t out of some a/hole that desperately needs it.  Since most are not capable of grasping the simplest concept….my mind just cannot tolerate….STUPID!

Enough Is A Goddamn Enough!

The Paris attacks were all the rage in the media and now that it is all but over it is still all the rage……but now the media is fixated on what they see as anti-Semitism…..pundits like Morning Joe’s Scarborough of MSNBC is completely flabbergasted at the way Europeans are treating the Jews especially in France.  His question is did these people NOT learn anything from the Holocaust and the events that lead to it?

He is a staunch Israel supporter which is okay with me as long as he does not lie or ignore other facts in that support.  Recently he, Scarborough, went on and on about the attacks that have been leveled at Jews since the Paris attacks…..and his crony Mika quoted a few stats about the rise in nationalistic feelings and the anti-Semitism.  Scarborough said that there have been many attacks on Jews especially against synagogues that have led to a security detail to protect Jewish interests in France.

Scarborough is not alone….almost all media outlets, at least the so-called reputable ones, are following suit.

His concern is admirable but he should fixate on ALL attacks on religious minorities….for incidence, since the Paris attacks there has been 21 attacks on mosques in France and 33 threatening letters and yet it is not important enough for these overpaid hacks to mention it.  But 10,000 French troops are used to protect Jewish interests.

Of course the MSM seems to think that the world owes Israel and Jews more protection than other minorities because of World War 2……personally, I think any debt owed Jews for their suffering in WW2 has been paid….and in full.

When will the world realize that Israel is playing on their sympathy and because it works so goddamn well…..Israel gets a free ride….all they have to do is invoke the mantra of security and the world bends over and ignores any action that Israel takes….whether legitimate of not.

Muslims are being treated worse because the perpetrators of the violence claim to be Muslims………and the world ignores their plight  Guilty by association!

ENOUGH IS A GODDAMN ENOUGH!

Personally, I am sick and tired of all this ‘religious freedom’ crap!

It is more about running rough shod over peoples lives than some vague religious belief…..now corporations have the rights and humans do not……how much further are these twats going to go?

“Religious Freedom” has become a damn smoke screen for taking what few rights we Americans have away….they use this ‘religious persecution’ bullsh*t for all it is worth…..the truly sad part is they get away with it!
