The ‘Death Dealer’ Returns

I know that sounds like an episode of Star trek….well it is not….it is about one of our nation’s worst Neo-conservative warmonger and his return to  the White House fold.

Why would Biden nominate such a warmonger like Elliot Abrams to lead a diplomatic mission?

Abrams is a neoconservative hawk who led the Trump administration’s failed Venezuela regime change effort, which involved crushing economic sanctions that are still in effect today, besides Biden giving Chevron a limited license to pump oil in the country.

Toward the end of Trump’s presidency, Abrams was also assigned as the US’s top Iran envoy, where he oversaw a sanctions policy designed to prevent President Biden from re-entering the Iran nuclear deal.

Abrams is notorious for his role in covering up atrocities committed by US-backed forces in Latin America during the Reagan administration in the 1980s, most notably the El Mozate massacre in El Salvador.

Over 800 civilians were killed by US-trained forces in El Mozate, and at the time, Abrams praised the death squad and disputed the death toll. In 1991, Abrams pled guilty for lying to Congress about the Iran-Contra Affair but was pardoned by President George H.W. Bush.

This is the last person the US needs in a position of diplomacy….he has done nothing to illustrate that he has any faith in diplomacy…..

Abrams has been involved in many atrocities in one way or another.

The Biden White House predictably failed to mention the sordid details of Abrams’ record in its nomination announcement, offering a sterilized biography that lists off the notorious figure’s previous government roles: Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, Human Rights, and Latin America under Ronald Reagan, a senior director of the National Security Council under George W. Bush, and special representative for Iran and special representative for Venezuela under Donald Trump, among others.

According to its website, the Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy is tasked with “appraising U.S. government activities intended to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics and to increase the understanding of, and support for, these same activities.”

Abrams must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the commission.

Slate journalist Alex Sammon denounced Biden’s nomination of Abrams for the position as “obscene” and “unconscionable.”

“Elliott Abrams, enemy of human rights, apologist for mass murder, should have no place within spitting distance of any Democratic administration in any capacity”.

This position calls for someone that thinks diplomacy can work not some prehistoric warmongering slug like Abrams.

Weekly Standard–End Of Days

The title does not imply that this will be some sort of religious rant…..have NO fear I leave those commentaries to those that feel it necessary to share……this post is about the impending doom of a pillar of neo-conservatism….the Weekly Standard.

Political magazines depend on the largesse of motivated patrons for their survival. When the patrons lose interest—or run short on cash—the magazines expire unless other moneybags can be located to cover the losses. Following that eternal script, the Weekly Standard appears close to folding because its current patron—and most important reader—billionaire conservative Philip Anschutz, has grown tired of it. He better favors his other conservative political publication, the Washington Examiner, which his company announced plans on Monday to “expand into a national distributed magazine with a broadened editorial focus.” In other words, the Standard is dying so the Examiner can live larger.

Since 1995 the Weekly Standard has been a driving force of neo-conservative thought…..from the mind of Bill Kristol sprang a magazine that became a go to source for just about everything neocon……Neocon?…….but just what is a Neocon?

It appears that the magazine that help spread misinformation about Iraq to help make the case for the invasion and occupation and a driving force in the opposition to Iran….is looking like it is dead in the water……

The rumored demise of the Weekly Standard is yet another of Donald J. Trump’s achievements that will go uncelebrated by his liberal enemies: indeed, they are even now mourning the death of the neoconservative flagship as they never did when it was at the height of its maleficent glory.

And of course neoconservatism’s many fellow-travelers are out there with panegyrics. It “stood up for conservative principle” in the age of Trump, writes Meghan McArdle. What principle this might be, Ms. McArdle somehow neglects to say: perhaps it’s a penchant for perpetual war, the only known characteristic this famously eccentric and variable band hold in common. Both McArdle and the editors of the Standard thrilled their readers with stories of the great danger posed by Saddam Hussein, who they told us had nukes hidden beneath his palace ready to launch at a moment’s notice.

Let’s take a look at the three important roles played by the Standard and its editors in the history of the post-9/11 era.

Hillary’s Neoconservatives

Yes I know I have been railing against a Clinton presidency because of her ties with the hawks in Washington….I am hoping that some will read and understand just how important it is to NOT vote for a pro-war candidate….granted I am a small voice but I will not give up.

As much as I have written I still find some good articles about Clinton and her ties with the neocons……like this one in The American Conservative……

The Hillary Clinton campaign has recently been trumpeting endorsements from neoconservatives. The candidate’s embrace of figures such as Robert Kagan, Max Boot, and Eliot Cohen—all once regarded as anathema to the contemporary left—has engendered a wave of pushback from progressive critics.

Jane Sanders, wife of Bernie, is the most recent high-profile objector, publicly expressing queasiness about Clinton’s perceived allying with “architects of regime change.” Now, predictably, the pushback has been met with its own pushback, including from Brian Beutler of The New Republic, who cautions progressives not to fret.

How The American Neoconservatives Destroyed Mankind’s Hopes For Peace

Yes, Irene, I am an anti-war person.  There is NOTHING that can be said that would make me believe that a peace cannot be found……no matter the situation.

The “realist” theory of international relations has done nothing to make the world a safer place or to prevent the deaths of Americans.  The neocons have lead the charge to more and more wars….Americans need to pull their heads out of their butts and take a good look at what is happening to the world we want to leave to our grandchildren.

There was a time when I thought that Reagan would be a good thing for the country…no I did not vote for him…..but he was traveling down a road that could have lead to a peaceful world……(you might want to mark this day because that will be the nicest thing I will ever say about Reagan)…….

When Ronald Reagan turned his back on the neoconservatives, fired them, and had some of them prosecuted, his administration was free of their evil influence, and President Reagan negotiated the end of the Cold War with Soviet President Gorbachev. The military/security complex, the CIA, and the neocons were very much against ending the Cold War as their budgets, power, and ideology were threatened by the prospect of peace between the two nuclear superpowers.

I know about this, because I was part of it. I helped Reagan create the economic base for bringing the threat of a new arms race to a failing Soviet economy in order to pressure the Soviets into agreement to end the Cold War, and I was appointed to a secret presidential committee with subpeona power over the CIA. The secret committee was authorized by President Reagan to evaluate the CIA’s claim that the Soviets would prevail in an arms race. The secret committee concluded that this was the CIA’s way of perpetuting the Cold War and the CIA’s importance.

As the American people go to the polls in November they should keep in mind that the world is ablaze and the next president can either throw fuel on it or find a way to extinguish it…….which will be best for the country…..the people not the industries?

I have been writing about neo-conservatism for years now and in all that time few people show that they understand just what it is to be a neo-conservative.

Most think that just by calling oneself a conservative is enough….not so……I read alot of stuff everyday and I came across this explanation in a blog called Lobe’s Blog….it is an excellent explanation of the phenom we call neo-conservatism……

Clinton: Business As Usual

The Iowa voting is over and out lady of the airways, Hillary, has won the contest by a narrow margin and now it will be on to New Hampshire….but what are those Clinton supporters really voting for?  Her gender?  Or her policies? Just what is the major attraction?

For me I feel it is an election for the very soul of the Democratic Party……with a successful Clinton campaign we will be facing business as usual….all over again.  Why?  She is the big money candidate and she will embrace that just to win while promising that it will not influence her ruling prowess.

But is that true?

Of course it is….look who she has on her team…..Bubba who is a master at selling influence though the Clinton Global thingy….but then there are others that see the same……

As my readers are well aware of…..I do not think much or her foreign policies….she may have been the Sec of State but her policies smack of neo-conservatism…..and again I am not the only analyst that see this…….

Personal opinion here…..but if we elect Clinton we will be electing the same failed policies we have had for the last 25 years….probably more….

This election is young….too young to predict the outcome….but if you listen to the news then you will see that it is obvious that Clinton is their choice…..and since most Americans get their opinions from their fave news outlet….then we can extrapolate that Clinton will be the next prez……

That is a damn good question.  Critical thinking is a thing of the past….today it is all along “party lines”….little “outside the box” thinking left.  We have proven that the thinking of today’s political climate progress is just not possible.

In my studies at university I was taught about the classical definitions of conservatism and liberalism…….there is nothing like them in American politics of today……basically we are confronted with the same coin only different sides of neoliberalism.

Neoliberalism combined with the disappearance of critical intellectuals spell a bleak future for Western democracy.

Battle Of The NeoCon Stars……..

We once had the Battle of the Network Stars and now we have the Battle of the Neo Cons…….and the later is the most humorous of the two……we have Rand Paul, Rick Perry and the most delusional of the neo cons, Dick Cheney all attacking each other over something that none of them understands beyond…they are right and everyone else is wrong…..a great foreign policy, right?

Iraq is a pile of manure and everyone has a plan for dealing with the situation…..let’s start with the Liar in Chief, Dick Cheney……most semi-intelligent people now realize that Rumsfeld, Bush, Rice and Cheney lied their fool heads off just so we could go to war with Iraq and even though there is few that believe anything this toad has to say he is still allowed to be some sort of expert interviewed by the MSM………….and his talking points are all the same…..

Invading Iraq was prudent.

George W. Bush waged the war successfully.

Barack Obama is responsible for the chaos in Iraq today.

America needs to wage war in at least three countries and spend more on the military.

Either he is the most delusional person I have ever covered or is an arrogant prick that is NEVER wrong……..my money is on the later.

Now we look at the duel being waged between Gov. Perry and Sen. Paul on foreign policy…….

We’ve got a few years yet before 2016, but two potential GOP candidates are already taking shots at each other in dueling foreign policy pieces. Texas Gov. Rick Perry got the party started with a Washington Post op-ed, in which he attacked Sen. Rand Paul for being “curiously blind” to the national security threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Paul, Perry argues in the piece, advocates doing “next to nothing” to confront the situation, whereas Perry would prefer to take action. That action, he writes, could include “intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sharing” as well as airstrikes.

Paul took to Politico to offer a batch of what Slate calls “snappy insults” in return. If Paul is “blind” on ISIS, then Perry’s “new glasses haven’t altered his perception of the world, or allowed him to see it any more clearly,” Paul writes. He accuses Perry of getting his views so wrong that “I wonder if he’s even really read any of my policy papers.” The truth, he notes, is that the US is already involved in or considering the strategies Perry supports, and Paul has laid out a number of proposals himself. “If the governor continues to insist that these proposals mean I’m somehow ‘ignoring ISIS,’ I’ll make it my personal policy to ignore Rick Perry’s opinions.” Click for Perry’s piece, or for Paul’s piece.

The MSM sez that these two are practicing their foreign policy muscle ahead of the 2016 election…..to that I scoff!  neither of these men show me that they have any grip on the concept of international relations……it sounds like they are regurgitating talking points from the RNC.

Sorry, but unless you have a complete grasp on what the term “international relations” actually means then maybe they should shut the Hell up and go back to Obamacare lies……

Does Palin Know?

Poor Sarah cannot catch a break…..she invents words….kills a moose on TV…..clubs fish……writes books….and as much as I do not agree with her politics she just makes it way too easy for people like me to criticize her……..

Recently there was a horrible act committed in Tucson, the shooting of about 30 people to include a congressperson and the death of a 9 year old girl……this horrendous act has the media lathered up and accusations are flying around the airways and the blogsphere…..most of it is that the shooting was related to the bile language of the conservative talk radio and TV…..the illusions of reloading, crosshairs, arming the people and using the 2 nd amendment as a solution to the Dems and liberalism in Washington……..Sarah is NO different she has come out and call the media’s concern as “blood libel”….

In the eight-minute video, Palin says, “Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.”

Does she know or realize what she saying?  Does she know what blood libel is?  I know her feelings are hurt….but she should have remained silent…..

The blood libel is a false accusation that Jews sacrifice Christian children either to use the blood for various “medicinal” purposes or to prepare Passover Matzoth (unleavened bread) or for vengeance and mock crucifixions. It is one of the central fables of Anti-Semitism of the older (middle ages) type. The blood libel is a phenomenon of medieval and modern Christian anti-Semitism, but spread to the Middle East as early as 1775, when there was a blood libel in Hebron. A second blood libel occurred in Damascus in 1840 and one occurred in Cyprus in the same year. As the blood libel was the subject of folk ballads and literature, it was not simply a religious superstition in Europe, but a staple of popular culture, like most anti-Semitic prejudices.

She has to be handled better….or find some handlers that have at least a high school education……….you would think after the use of a non-existence word, refudiate……she would have learned….

Shall we return to sanity?  The elections are over and now we need to return to reality…….

Neo-conservative or as we call them today, NEOCONS….why?  Apparently we are too damn lazy to say the whole phrase and must shorten it for our personal ease…..

I have come to a point where I am sick of people calling themselves conservatives when they are not really…..they do not believe, for instance, they feel that American society is breaking down because of sexual liberation, multiculturalism, political correctness and a culture of dependency.  Neocons believe that other countries are envious of the democracy in the US….and that it is the US place in history to , basically, thrust democracy on others, willing or not…..G.W. Bush is a good example of neo-conservative thinking….he had a strong conviction to advance American values (whatever those are)….he had a ruthless pursuit of American interests, no matter the course and exploited the politics of fear to justify any and all actions…….

Okay let us look at this more simply…..the “new” NeoCons…the Teabaggers….have many of the same leanings as their predecessors……traditionalism, authoritarianism, social order, traditional values (there is that word again), strong state, these are the things that most of the “newbies” in Washington are yelling about…..it is there way or the highway and that will eliminate any compromise to get the country moving again……social order which will be tested if these people get their way in the next couple of years…..well you get my point here…..

My problem with this whole movement is that hey are incoherent in their policy stands….there seems to be NO ideology or said principles….they have attached themselves to anger to win a position in Washington…that does not bide well for the American people….no matter how angry the electorate is voting from anger in place of knowledge is just plain ignorant and self-defeating……

Gandhi was right when he observed:   “Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.”  Pretty much proves my point….at least in the recent past.
