What To Do About Egypt?

We all know the story…..Egypt erupted in revolution and Mubarak had to go….they had an election and the Muslim Brotherhood won…..then they had to go….and now the country is controlled by the army as it was in the 60’s…..but the question is….what to do about Egypt?

A recent poll was taken asking if the Prez was doing all he could for the Egyptian people…..50% said not enough…..12% said to tough……,showing that the American people want the Prez to do more to help Egypt in its time of need.

First, about 70% of the responders could not find Egypt on a map…….second, these people are defending the Brotherhood because they were elected…..just 2 short years ago they were on the Terrorist list……and why is Hamas, which is on the list, not given the same defense after all they were elected by the people….okay my soap box is closed for now….

Let me help a bit…….

map of Egypt

Most people are screaming for the cut off of US aid, about $1.5 billion, tyo Egypt to punish them for this coup……there is a problem there…..the US will cut a deal with Saudi Arabia or some other Oil kingdom to make up the shortfall to Egypt for future considerations….it will be a good propaganda talking point but in reality the Egyptian military will continue to get their aid….people need to stop and smell the fecal matter!

The American people, according to polls, wants the US to be more involved……what does that mean?  Egypt is for the people of that country and any attempt to influence them into doing what we want is tantamount to imperialism in the making….and that could be extremely devastating to Egypt as well as the US….look at Iran….we were actively involved in the making the Shah the leader and in turn a dictator….and how did that work out for us in 1979?

Let Egypt solve their own problems……..in the end the Egyptian people will get the government they deserve……whether you like it or not.  US meddling can only be harmful…..as it has been in the past.

Egyptian Restart?

Middle East Desk

While Americans were celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence the Egyptian people were declaring theirs, at least independence from the dictatorial approach of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood……..if you have no idea of what a speak then I suggest you read a newspaper and let that mind numbing Honey Boo Boo die a natural death…….

Once the Egyptian army ceased power and put Morsi under protection the war hawks in Washington started thumping their chest……people like McCain who condemned the army for their action….basically he has come to support the Muslim Brotherhood…..think about that people!  McCain and the Muslim Brotherhood?

Let’s go back about 15 years and the Muslim Brotherhood was high on the terrorist list…….because of their extreme religious beliefs and their embracing of terrorism as a political weapon……so now let us ask…..what happen for that to change?  It appears that since they participated in the general elections in Egypt after the fall of Mubarak…they have become a democratic institution and in being so deserves the support of people like McCain…….

Now with that said….I want to ask…..why does Hamas not deserve recognition other than being on that same terrorist list that the Muslim Brotherhood use to reside?

Hamas is an organization that represents the people of Gaza and yes they were democratically elected to the posts…..so why are they not worthy of support?

Easy answer….ISRAEL!

The Jewish state is controlling the terrorist list and in doing so controlling the US Middle East foreign policy……..because the Brotherhood participated in the elections does not give them a free ride….there are many democratically elected leaders that we do not deal with for whatever reason…..but when it comes to the Middles East….it is Israel that will dictate what and who we are to support…..this is why Israel can get away with murder and I mean it in actual terms…….

The US will play NO significant role in the events taking place in the Middle East as long as our policies are driven for the benefit of Israel and no one else…..

While You Were Watching……..

Inkwell Institute

While you were fretting over who won South Carolina and others were watching another debate that at best was described as Blah……blah….blah….no matter what spin your favorite cable channel put on it…………it is all worn out ideas and some red meat thrown to the angry beasts on the Right…….but while that silliness was happening…….there are things happening other than a bunch of psycho conservs slap fighting…..happenings that could have disastrous results…….

Day after day we are exposed to the constant media scrutiny of the bastards in Iran….their push for nukes and nuke power……candidates beat their chest on what they will do if elected to prevent Iran from acquiring this energy and this weapon…..all concerned are afraid that if Iran gets this capability that somehow terrorist groups will acquire the material needed to make a dirty bomb that could be used against us and our allies……….but quietly the US has been helping other Middle East “allies” to obtain the same energy that we want to deny Iran,  countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt….and speaking of Egypt!  A story has come out of the Middle East that has been somehow missed by all the US media organizations…

Have you heard this piece of info that was reported in Nature News?

The theft this week of radioactive material from a nuclear power plant under construction in Egypt has highlighted once again the dangers of nuclear looting in countries undergoing social upheaval.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that the material was taken from a laboratory at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant on the country’s Mediterranean coast. “According to the information we have, the items that have gone missing are low-level radioactive sources,” says an IAEA spokesperson.

The sources probably have a long half-life, and would have been used to calibrate radiation detectors, says Ronald Chesser, director of the Center for Environmental Radiation Studies at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. “They were small check sources, in the microcurie range,” says Chesser. “This is pretty low-level stuff, but it still is a concern that they are in unknown hands.” Calibration sources typically contain small amounts of an isotope — not enough to cause widespread contamination, but with the potential to trigger public panic if released.

At what point does it become a problem for the world……kinda like the problem we have with Iran and their push for nuke power…..but Egypt is an ally and we trust people who will agree with us on our foreign policy…..now there is the bottom line of our policy on who gets nukes and who does not…..

So by all means……sit and worry about who is a socialist and who is a racist or……who values are more American than someone else……and then rent “Sum Of All Fears” and keep in mind what happens…..

Classic Southern Thinking

I have many times wrote about how the so-called “New South” is not so New….Southerners are the biggest hypocrites around…..for one, they will not let go of their disastrous past, the Civil War to be more accurate……many of Beck’s ardent admirers are located in the South….beyond that, Southerners have fairly typical of most Americans believe what they want and disregard all else…..if it does not fit into their mental capacity then it is wrong or just not there…..

For instance…..from a report on ABC News…….

The Mississippi division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans had its first specialty license plate approved in 2002. The plate has remained the same for eight years, until this year when the group proposed five new designs to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.One of those designs features Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, a heralded cavalry leader who also is known for commanding a massacre of black Union Army soldiers at the Battle of Fort Pillow and for being a founding member of the Ku Klux Klan.

“It’s been said he disavowed the Klan later in life and that puts him in the same category as former Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black and former West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd,” said Greg Stewart, a Sons of Confederate Veterans member.

He disavowed the KKK later in life?…….Disavowed?

I am getting to my point…….these liars want the rest of us to believe that a man that hated so badly that he created an organization to inflict pain on other human beings….then saw the light and changed his mind….is that about it?

If you talk to most Southerns about what is happening in Egypt….they will almost always say that the Muslim Brotherhood is starting their push for world domination or something as silly……and trhay the MB is in league with AQ, even though the MB has “disavowed” violence and has condemned AQ as an abomination of Islam…….

Sorry dudes…if the MB is lying then so are the supporters of Forrest……..

Henry Ford may have said best……..”Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it.”

What Would The Founders Say?

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  International Relations

For three weeks the people of Egypt have been demonstrating their disgust with the government….mostly peaceful with the except of a couple of days when Mubarak sent in the dogs to beat the hell out of the opposition……for the most part the US has been doing what I consider the best thing…..staying out of it and working behind the scenes to keep it peaceful and to find a possible solution….but keeping in mind that it is Egypt and only Egyptians have a final voice on what that solution will be…….

But as usual there are those on the Right that are bitching about the Prez and his handling of the whole Egyptian situation….and some have even come down on the side of Mubarak who has kept the people under his thumb for thirty years while receiving billions upon billions of US foreign aid…..

All this reminds me of the lunatics on the Right how they are always referring to what the “Founders” had to say or think or meant…….okay then let us go with that……

Jefferson said that we Americans should export the “Empire of liberty”…….  meaning?

“We shall divert through our own Country a branch of commerce which the European States have thought worthy of the most important struggles and sacrifices, and in the event of peace [ending the American Revolution]…we shall form to the American union a barrier against the dangerous extension of the British Province of Canada and add to the Empire of liberty an extensive and fertile Country thereby converting dangerous Enemies into valuable friends.” – Jefferson to George Rogers Clark, 25 December 1780.

Meaning?  Jefferson thought and believed that it was America’s job and responsibility to spread freedom across the globe…….so if Jefferson considered it our job to spread democracy, why would the people that pretend to speaker for the Founders be so against the US doing just that?

By the US staying out of the fray we are doing exactly what Jefferson wanted…..we are letting the people of Egypt decide their own future with democracy….may I suggest that people like Palin, DeMint, Beck and the rest of the lunatics on the Right…….stop using the Founders in ways that they NEVER intended…….or learn moree about the Founders so that you are correct when you invoke their names……

If one is into conspiracy theories….I have one for you….the Right is on the support Mubarak bandwagon because they are running scared….if the people win and there is no Islamic revolution then their whole premise for the fear factor goes in the crapper and with that they have NOTHING!

Egypt is for Egyptians!  And Jefferson would agree with me on this (may be the only thing that he would agree with me on)………

What Could Be The Final Outcome?

Tunisia is still smoldering….Egypt is on fire…..the rest of the Middle East is tense…..should Mubarak go or should he stay?  Should the army jump into the fray?  What will happen at the end of the saga?

WaPo and Glenn Kessler gives us a look into the future (the possible future, that is)………

The Iranian outcome

Iran’s Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, like Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak today, was an anchor of U.S. power in the Middle East who maintained relations with Israel. He was socially progressive, with a largely secular approach. But when he was ousted in a popular revolution, a theocratic clique led by the long-exiled Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini seized power and smothered a movement originally led by students and moderates. Moreover, the outcome was deeply damaging to the United States, with Iran the major backer of anti-Israeli militants in the region.  (Not likely…there is NO one waiting to be the face of the revolution as was in Iran)

The Indonesian outcome

In 1998, President Suharto’s 32 years of authoritarian rule came to an end. He was another longtime U.S. ally whose departure was deeply feared in the White House. But in the end, the world’s most populous Muslim country made a messy and long transition to democracy – and remained a key partner of the United States.  (This one is more likely, as it is today…..but who knows for sure?)

The Romanian outcome

Romanian revolutionaries overthrew dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in 1989 – and killed him – but within months the military and Communist elite had engineered their survival, with the designated president, a former ally of Ceausescu’s, winning 85 percent of the vote in a May 1990 election

Egypt’s security services – army, paramilitary, National Guard and the like – are about 1 million strong. It is quite possible that the country’s ruling elite would slowly squeeze the life out of the opposition by making Mubarak a transitional figurehead and enacting a few cosmetic reforms that give the illusion of change. State control of the media would not be lifted, and elections would still be manipulated to ensure the election of a president beholden to the current power structure…….( This is the Middle East and the whole violent coup with the death of the leader is still quite possible…….the US may have a hand in preventing this….but then it will depend on how we handle any attempt to seize power)….

Like I said….this is the Middle East and anything is possible……there is someone waiting and hiding in the shadows and after today the culprit may be unmasked….who will it be?
