OMG! It Is Official!

Holy crap!  I got a good chuckle when I heard that a bunch of spineless Congressmen signed a petition to nominate Trump for the Nobel…..but it is not so humorous for it is official he will be nominated……

Republican lawmakers have nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Eighteen House members penned a letter Wednesday to the Nobel Prize Committee praising the president’s efforts to broker peace in the Korean Peninsula, reports the Hill. “President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons program and bring peace to the region,” the letter says. The lawmakers credit the president for the recent historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, in which the leaders agreed to rid the Peninsula of nuclear weapons and bring a formal end to the countries’ 68-year-old war. Although the countries entered into an armistice in 1953, they never signed an official peace treaty.

If the two countries can resolve their differences, Trump deserves the prize, Sen. Bob Corker told CNBC Wednesday, but the senator issued a caution. The Foreign Relations Committee chair said that North Korea has made several overtures in the last two decades, only to reverse course. In a separate interview with CNBC, retired Gen. Michael Hayden credited progress with North Korea to four things: “The president squeezing the [North] Koreans, the economic sanctions, the diplomatic isolation, the military demonstrations.” He added, though, that Trump’s earlier tweets about Kim, in which he famously called him “Rocket Man,” were not helpful. Trump plans to meet with the North Korean leader in the next month or so. If the meeting takes place, it would be the first time a sitting US president has met with a North Korean leader.

Obama got the prize for nothing and Trump has been nominated for nothing…..now if he, Trump, does broker an agreement then I say he gets the prize….but right now NO he deserves none.

He was a bully and then turned into a warm and fuzzy participant……so far right now it is a bit absurd…..

The nomination for the 2019 prize came in a letter from 18 of Trump’s Republican supporters in the House of Representatives to the Nobel Committee chair Berit Reiss-Andersen, which starkly resembled the narrative of fakery the President delights in. Trump, went the signers, should receive the prize “in recognition of his work to end the Korean War, denuclearize the Korean peninsula, and bring peace to the region.”

The Republicans seem to have things the wrong way around.  Rather than incite instability, Trump supposedly calmed the waters.  Rather than creating teeth-chattering fear amongst allies, he brought accord where there was disagreement.  “Since taking office, President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons programs and bring peace to the region.” He was the great unifier, bringing on powers such as China “to impose one of the most successful international sanctions regimes in history.” (Never let history get in the way of a good tale.)

The Holocaust was a barbaric event in the history of the world….the deaths and the mistreatment of Jews during WW2 was unconscionable….

The Holocaust Museum gives an award to persons who confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity……..and the Burmese leader of the democratic movement, Aung San Suu Kyi has been told that her award has been withdrawn……

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum gives out its prestigious Elie Wiesel Award to just one person a year, selecting “an internationally prominent individual whose actions have advanced the Museum’s vision of a world where people confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.” Now, the second person to ever receive the honor (Wiesel himself was the first, in 2011) has seen it rescinded. In what the New York Times calls “perhaps the strongest rebuke yet,” the museum on Tuesday informed Aung San Suu Kyi in a letter that it was stripping her of the award due to her response—or non-response, as she has yet to publicly say the word “Rohingya”—to Myanmar’s ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya.

The letter explains the museum has been “closely monitoring the military’s campaign against the Rohingya and your response to it,” and that it began publicly airing its concerns about what was happening to the Rohingya in 2013; subsequent visits to Myanmar and Bangladesh have followed. “We had hoped that you—as someone we and many others have celebrated for your commitment to human dignity and universal human rights—would have done something to condemn and stop the military’s brutal campaign and to express solidarity with the targeted Rohingya population,” the letter continues. The museum implores her to “use your moral authority to address this situation” and ends with words from Wiesel himself: “Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

I think this ward is one that is needed in this world today……however if the museum wants to give this award then it should make a strong statement against the state of Israel for its treatment of the Palestinian people…..the killings, the imprisonment, the land theft, the destruction of crops and homes…..the treatment of the Arab-Israelis as second class citizens.

The museum brings spotlight to the horrible treatment during the Holocaust and yet turns a blind eye to the similar tactics of Israel.  Until they address this then I cannot take them seriously.

I will be called an anti-semite for this but that would be inaccurate….I do not hate Jews…I hate the heavy handed tactics of the government of Israel.

One More Award

Saturday….the cold winter winds and I will stay warm and snuggley……

There is a wealth of awards these….for  music, for poetry, for movies, for just about anything you can imagine and now we have one more to add to the mix…..our Fearless leader has devised one just for himself…..

The Golden Globes are Sunday, but President Trump has another awards ceremony he’s promoting, one scheduled for the very next day. Trump took to Twitter Tuesday to announce, in all caps, the “most dishonest & corrupt media awards of the year,” set for 5pm ET Monday. “Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!” he tweeted. USA Today notes the president has publicly mulled this idea before, noting on Twitter in late November that “we should have a contest” among the major TV networks and CNN (but minus his apparent favorite, Fox News) to see which outlet would receive “the fake news trophy.”

His attempt to shield Fox aside, a survey put out shortly after that tweet by Rasmussen, a conservative polling group, found 40% of voters wanted Fox to win this supposed prize—though CNN was the top pick among GOP voters, with 40% to Fox’s 24%. USA Today notes a December fundraising email from the Trump-Pence Make America Great Again Committee asked recipients to pick the “fake news story” they thought was “the worst” in 2017. “There’s no point in pretending that some journalists are anything more than peddlers of falsehoods and liberal propaganda,” the email read.

I am sure that Trump will attach his name to the award for he does so love seeing his name up in lights…..no matter how moronic it is…..his supporters ought to flock to the award and be something special for the mindless……

The last Sunday of the month and time for IST to award its “Assie”….

Mr. Robertson has won this award under another incarnation the “Anal-ocity Award”….. but this will be his first award as the “Asshat” Award….

 

Fox News host Eric Bolling has been suspended from his job for allegedly sending photos of his genitals to multiple female coworkers, but televangelist Pat Robertson believes that it is all part of a big conspiracy to bring down the right-wing cable news station.

Via Mediaite, Robertson this week went to bat for Bolling, whom he described as a “straight arrow” who could never be guilty of the actions he’s been accused of committing.

“He was on this program, he’s a dedicated Catholic, goes to mass every day, very nice man,” Robertson said of Bolling. “They’ve pulled him off the air because someone sent some pictures ostensibly over his name.”

Seriously?  He was framed?

MY thought is…yeah there have been NO Catholics that have been known to do stuff like this….Catholics are not capable of such degenerative acts.

The Definition Of “Hero”!

Our society uses the word “hero” as some sort of throw away description used to feign patriotism….

Then there are true heroes…..

Saving a life may be a common bucket-list entry, but it’s one that’s rarely checked off. James McCloughan could’ve done so 10 times over two days in 1969. Ignoring his lieutenant’s orders to evacuate Nui Yon Hill in Vietnam after shrapnel cut into his head and back and a bullet pierced his arm, the 23-year-old Army medic ran through “hell on earth” and “gave it his all and then … just kept giving,” President Trump said Monday, bestowing McCloughan with the Medal of Honor almost 50 years after that intense battle. Five of the 10 men McCloughan pulled to safety while surrounded by 2,000 enemies looked on as the 71-year-old took his “place among legends,” Trump said in his first time awarding the medal, per the New York Times.

Trump told how McCloughan had run into an open field to retrieve a wounded soldier as bullets rained. Over the next 48 hours, he went without food, water, or sleep as he saved nine more men and helped load medevac helicopters. He finally collapsed from dehydration as one of 32 men left on the ground. After returning from Vietnam in 1970, the Michigan native received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars, per Heavy.com. A meeting with Rep. Fred Upton years later, however, led to the recommendation that he also receive the nation’s highest military honor, bestowed with special permission by Congress. “Jim’s dad taught him a simple but powerful lesson: Never do anything halfway,” Trump said. “Jim took that lesson very much to heart.”

And that is a true HERO!  Anything else is a poser!

IST Asshat “Assie” Award–July 2017

That time of the month again……the last Sunday and time to award the monthly Asshat Award, commonly known as the “Assie”…..

Usually the award is given to a person…some have been from a political party, religious leader….anyway you get the idea…..this month IST went off on a different track.

One of the popular movies of the Summer is the one about the rescue of British troops trapped at the beach at Dunkirk in France in the year 1940.

This month IST will award the “Assie” to the newspaper USA Today…….it appears that they were concerned for the lack of diversity with the actors in the movie.

The cultural Marxists at USA Today may have reached the final extreme of self-parody in an otherwise positive review of the movie Dunkirk:

[T]he fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color may rub some the wrong way.

USA Today gives the movie 3 1/2 stars. It could have received four by taking advice from James Delingpole:

[I]t might have provided valuable comic relief if Amy Schumer or Rebel Wilson – or perhaps even both – had been cast as, say, two brilliant battlefield surgeons who insisted on staying behind with the troops when all their male counterparts had fled.

Also, it would definitely have added a new dimension had James Earl Jones been cast as the salty old Royal Naval officer called out of retirement for one last trip across the English Channel, or if Ice T and Snoop Dogg had been given the role of two aging rappers who parachute from a Dakota to administer weed to the desperate troops, or if Oprah appeared in a cameo as Queen Mary welcoming the returning troops after their desperate voyage.

Liberals regard the triumph of their ideology as historically inevitable. If they are right, future generations will learn from the movies that Monty was a Muslim of Somali heritage and Patton was a transsexual illegal immigrant from Guatemala. At least Rommel will stay white.

Really?  Shows when you do not know history then you say some incredibly stupid things……they want to change history for the sake of diversity.

Congrats to USA Today for winning the IST monthly “Assie”……I wish them luck in December as IST picks the “Assie” of the year for 2017.

TS Cindy has moved on…we are still getting a bit of rain from the storm…..my garden is now just a memory only thing that survived was the okra.  The Coast is trying to dry out but these intermittent showers is making that process difficult.

The last Sunday of the month and time for the awarding of the monthly Asshat “Assie” Award.

This month was a nightmare of ignorant statements by ignorant people…it was difficult to decide on the winner so I turned over the nominees to my granddaughter and let her choose the winner.

She spent a good portion of the day mumbling to herself and shaking her head before she presented me with the winner.

As I was writing this post a new nominee came to me….we all remember the horrible shooting of Rep. Scalise of LA……well it seems that some people do not have any respect or civility…..

A Nebraska Democratic Party official was caught saying he was glad House Republican Steve Scalise was shot in an audio recording posted on YouTube, first reported by Fox 42 News.

Phil Montag, a Nebraska technology chairman for the state’s Democratic party, said the following of Scalise in the audio recording of a conversation between Montag and several others:

“His whole job is to get people, convince Republicans to fucking kick people off fucking health care. I hate this motherfucker, I’m glad he got shot.”

I have NO patience with people like this……we already have too much derision in this country and statements like this do not help.  The DEM Party does not people that think like this.

If anyone deserves the award this month it is this douche…..

Congrats Mr. Montag!

Some good news to close out the day….

U.S. Representative Steve Scalise, the No. 3 Republican in the House of Representatives who was shot while practicing baseball last week, is no longer being held in the intensive care unit at the hospital where he is being treated, a source familiar with his condition said on Friday.

IST wishes him a speedy recovery.

Monthly “Assie” Award–April 2017

A rainy Sunday….time to kick back and set the chess board up for my granddaughter’s visit….a cup of Jamaican Blue Mtn and a couple of waffles…and relax……

It is the last Sunday of the month and time to release the IST monthly Asshat Award winner…..

There were many that could have won this award but I could not get past this one…all I can say is ……..unbelievable.

A pastor in the US has claimed a gay man was “cured” of his sexuality by eating a special cake cooked by “saved” ex-prostitutes and “anointed with prayer.”

Lance Wallnau, a Christian speaker who takes credit for US President Donald Trump’s election victory, was Periscoping last week when a viewer asked him to pray for her gay son.

“They baked a cake for the owner of the bar, who was gay, and very adamantly anti-Christian,” he said. “They basically prayed over the cake – it was an anointed cake.”

“The power of God hit him when he was eating the cake,” Wallnau claimed. When the man went back to the guy who had given him the cake, he told him he had had a “weird experience” when eating the cake.

Congrats!

But if you believe that gay is curable then I have a swell bridge I will sell you cheap!

Monthly “Assie” Award–March 2017

It is the last Sunday of the month and time to announce the monthly winner of the IST Asshat “Assie” Award.

March was a tough month for it was full of morons rattling off the most anal statements I have heard in awhile.  But after much deliberation we have chosen the winner.

US REPRESENTATIVE STEVE KING (R-IA)
His history of the spoken word says that he intended to say just what he said and it meant just what it means……it can be spun any way one desires but the fact is he is a typical racist bigot from the heartland.

He just could not hold his tongue…he opened that mouth and out fell a load of manure.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has long been a friend to the European far right.

King embraced language that is incendiary even by his corroded standards. In a tweet once again supporting Wilders — who is in the final days of his latest bid to become prime minister of the Netherlands — King said: “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.”

It wasn’t immediately clear who King meant by “somebody else’s babies,” but white nationalists have used similar language to suggest that America needs more white people of European descent, and fewer Muslim and Latino immigrants.

Congrats Rep. King for your award….an email of this post will be sent to his office in Washington.
