Send in The Clowns! (The Morning After)

And the real shame is that there is NOT a pill we can take to make things better…..we must live with the deformed entity that we have spawned……Congrats!

First of all, let us be completely honest…..the 2010 election was the voter punishing the party that they are disappointed in…to reward a party that they cannot stand…..there you are American logic at its best!

It is finally over!  The 20120 mid-terms that is….and we have so much to look forward to in the coming months and years…..but the most fun will be from the CLOWNS that Americans have elected for their representation in Washington…..I am talking about the silly ones…you know who they are…Angle, Miller, O’Donnell and Paul……The American voter is so pissed at Washington that they would throw away their vote by voting for hypocrites and just plain crazies….nice job….with every election you guys just keep proving my case……

Yes I said silly and crazy!

Send in the CLOWNS!

First there is Joe Miller of Alaska (this race has NOT been called at the time of this writing and Miller is running second to the write in candidate)…..who thinks that we should do away with unemployment benefits because it makes people lazy to the point that they will NOT look for a job……but yet….his wife collected unemployment payments from the state of Alaska……was she lazy?  Was she a sponge on society?

Next is Rand Paul of Kentucky…the son of Rep. Ron Paul with whom I agree on a few issues like taxes and war and foreign aid……but this is his son…..who believes that the Civil Rights Act was a waste of time and effort…that “free markets” would have solved the problem if given time……it had about 300 years and it was NOT solved…what makes one think that it would do so today?

Rep. Bachmann from Minnesota….though she is running for re-election and not a first timer….she is one of the clowns and quite possibly the lead clown….she has made statements like liberals are un-American….and her eyes…her eyes scare the living crap out of me…they are crazy eyes……

Then there is Buck of Colorado (this race also has not been decided and is too close to call….but most prediction say he will pull it out after a re-count and such)…..Buck has said some crazy things. He wants to abolish the Department of Energy and gut the Department of Education in a state that is a leader in education reform and the new energy economy. He believes women that women who have been raped or victims of incest should have no choices if they are pregnant…..

There is a few bright spots of the absurdity of the 2010 election…..several of the more scary of the candidates did not win….Nevada’s Sharon Angle or Christine O’Donnell (never fear…she is a perpetual candidate…she will try again)….this election may not pull the GOP more to the Right than they are now….but will they actually work with the Dems to save the American economy?  That is the $64 question!

These people are truly CLOWNS….that prefer to LIE to the voters in a way to get into power….I am not talking about exaggerations….I mean out right LIES!  There are several others but these will be the lead acts of the Tea Party in Washington……I understand the anger that has grown over your representation in Washington….but is electing Bozo the way to change things?  Or for that matter…Crusty?

Oh Boy! Here We Go Again!

2010 Mid-term Election Series

Lecture #11

Just as the election of 2008 was about change….so was the 2010 mid-terms…the American people impatiently wanted change and did not get it quick enough and they once again voted for change…..will they be disappointed yet again…..you bet your butt they will!

If you are a Repub I would not be thumping my chest like some sex crazed primate…..why?  As pollster Charlie Cook has said…..the GOP were not winners, but rather beneficiaries…….the people did not vote for them in particular, but rather voted against the ones in power at the time……

So….what can we expect from the new Congress in January of 2011?  They will work 3 days a week and spend  the other four raising money for their next election….they will work about 14 months total in that 2 year time frame…they will spend time on their knees in front of special interests begging for cash……so far not much change has come with the new crop of veggies…..

Today’s vote shows such promise, but the promise that the 2008 election showed was just the typical illusion of American political activity.  After the voting there will be the same song and a slightly altered dance in Washington….the GOP will be looking at 2012 and the general election….so the politics will be about securing a win for the GOP and the country will just have to wait another two years for it to be important anough for actions coming out of Washington.

If you think the the last two years have been silly or absurd……then you will just love the next years for partisanship and obstructionism will be all the rage…..the only difference will be that the Dems will have someone they can actually run against…..John Boehner  and his colleagues foolish promises will they push….it will be intersting to see how many jobs the GOP can pull out of its butt….

As I have said….”Here we go again”!

Are You Voting Today?

Today is the day the Repubs and Teabaggers have been waiting for for 2 years…the 2010 mid-terms…..for some voting is such a chore and if you are looking for a better way then I have an answer for you…..

Watch this and then tell me that we would not get a better crop of representatives with this method…..

Not only are they cute but they show a certain zest for politics…..I know the feeling…..

Voter Beware!

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Politics/Political Theory/Voting

Lecture #9

This is a re-post of one of my blog’s pages….I think it needs to be said again…..and again…

Tomorrow is the day…the day we vote for our senators and reps…the day we return the same caliber people to do the same caliber job for the country……a vicious cycle…..

I have given voting a lot of thought lately and my views have not changed over the years. I wanted to reassess my stand to see if that maybe something positive had happened and that I might be mistaken. I am Not!

With the general election approaching, ever so slowly, you would not realize it by the tap dancing candidates are doing. You would swear, if you just woke up that it was 2008 and the first of the primaries are long days away. Unfortunately, for your sensibilities it is a year away.

For decades we have been told that if you do not vote, then you have nothing to bitch about. Or that it is your civic duty to vote. We have been taught from the very first Civics class that it is all important to participate in the system. Do you agree? What has your participation accomplished? Do you truly feel that you are part of the system? Do you feel that you have gotten your money’s worth out of the slugs you have help put into office?

People need to ask themselves these questions, but only if they are willing to take a hard look at their own participation. If you vote, what do you vote for? The Party? Or possibly the person? How many really give two shakes in hell about the issues?

Alrighty then, with all that said let us take a look at the institution called voting.

Voting is a strong ideological tool. Having a majority of the adults vote in any given election is giving a legitimacy to the system that supposedly derives its power from those very people. The problem is that the people are not being represented, they are justifying the ruling elites who reinforce their legitimacy by claiming to be held to the highest standards. Basically, what most of these slimes are saying is that they through their representation are contributing to the material well being of the people. And for most Americans that is all they are looking for, is their material well being. That is one of the major contributors that lead to the War On Terror

The candidates that the American people are given as their future leaders are all popped from the same mold. Makes no difference on party affiliation; they are wealthy, self-serving and maniacal. And these are the people that we have to choose from at election time.

So you want proof? Look at the present administration; it is arrogant, self-serving and above all unconcerned with the will of the people. But yet it was returned for a second tour in power. Why? It played heavily on the fears of the people, which in turn, proved to be the best emotional issue to secure leadership through the mandate called votes.

The ordeal of voting is an illusion created by those in power, that there is actually a struggle for the positions in which the people decide the outcome. The only thing the American voter decides is which wealthy elitist will lead them. The entire system is programed so that only the wealthy elite can enter into the system and have the chance of leadership. It is acceptable because the voter, from childhood, has been lead to believe that is the way it must be. By the way, politics in the US is a monopoly, that only the wealthy can play.

Remember, voting does not determine policy, it only legitimizes those who actually control the state apparatus.

Voting is an illusion of popular rule, by the people, which is legitimized by popular elections. In other words, it is a scam, that the American people participate in freely and it is so well entrenched that they assume they have the power. They do not! All you need to do is just look at the last 20 yrs of politics–where were they ever in control?

Gays, God And Guns

College of Political Knowledge

2010 Election Series

Lecture  #7

Gays, God and Guns!  Damn!  I great title for a country song!  I can hear the chanting now!  They are there just muffled by the economy and the word….JOBS!

Now that the mid-terms are through, I expect to hear a lot more of the subjects that have been missing, though not completely, from the political discourse……2012 is approaching and these issues will probably make a huge comeback…Obama will be stealing our guns…he will be sinning for pursuing to legitimize homosexuality….and finally he will be coming for your guns…….it will once again be sad to hear this type of mental manipulation…..

For decades the GOP has used gays, God and guns to run their strategy in national and state elections…….and I look for them, if they are at all smart, to avoid these subjects and concentrate on the economy and jobs….these two are winners and the others are big time losers, at least in the country these days…..

I have watched some of the more…..vocal candidates (used a more polite term) show there asses in the waning days of the campaigns….some are reverting back to the “good ol’ days”………

Gays, God and Guns have been the corner stone of the ultra-conservs….but this time around they need to shut the Hell up if the GOP is too win a majority….Why?  These social issues will NOT play well with the electorate in this time of economic upheaval.

These issues will NOT go away…..they will just go into hibernation for the 2010 mid term elections….that is if they are smart enough to recognize their potential to scuttle their plans to regain Congress….

Gays, God and Guns will NOT go away……they are just side lined for a future roll out….nothing gets American political blood boiling like a good emotional issue…..and Gays, God and Guns is the best emotional issues they, the conservs, could have in the repertoire……..They will return….if you fear for these things…..never fear they WILL return!

UpDate:  In the closing days of the 2010 mid-terms…..they have RETURNED!  See nothing to fear…….questions about ones religion or God….referendums trying vigorously to demonize gays and of course the ever present…GUN issues and who will steal them from you….

Are Political Parties Really Necessary?

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Government/Political Philosophy/2010 Election

Lecture #6

This is a re-post of an article from my idle blog called “Revolutionary Independent”….I thought that it was somehow appropriate in this season of party politics and elections and campaigns……

I was asked this in one of my lecture on political philosophy, these days it is called political theory, by a student who said that he did not know what or why we have them in the system……a good question in these times of political chaos in the US……there are movements and then there are what we call parties……most of these are just a meeting place for politicians….

Enough beating around the bush……political parties?

The origins of political parties in the United States of American can be traced to the debates about the ratification of the Constitution. The Federalists, who supported ratification, and the Antifederalists, who opposed ratification, became the first two major political parties in the United States.  Basically, it is two camps on a political issue.

One of the most common–and practical–definitions of a political party is “a team of political office seekers.” Securing elective office for its members is, in fact, one of the most important objectives of a political party. Toward this end, political parties actively recruit candidates to run for office, organize volunteers, hold party conventions and other meetings and raise and spend money to support the party and its candidates.

Parties also represent the broad values or goals stated in their party platforms. While not all of the members of a party adhere to every “plank” in their party’s platform, people who affiliate with a political party usually support most of the party’s positions–at least more than they support the positions of the other party.

But there is a rub here…..American political parties do NOT have an ideology or a set of “real” principles…..that is because of several issues within each of the major parties….1–wide array of opinions….trying to be all inclusive, 2–they are interests based….patronage and special interests control the parties, 3–there is an absence of any form of party government–there is no true leader but many spokespersons, and finally, there is NO third party that will help form a cohesion within the two major parties…….basically, both major parties suffer from massive internal strife, thus making these parties tend toward centrists thinking…….

The American political system has, with a few brief exceptions, always had two major political parties. Third parties, such as the Reform Party today, arise from time to time and win a few votes. Sometimes a third party member is even elected to a significant political office, such as Jesse Ventura, who was elected Governor of Minnesota in 1998. But the American system of elections tends to work against third parties. Because votes are cast for members of Congress in single-member districts on a winner-take-all basis, third party candidates are almost never elected to the House or Senate.

Before a third party can be considered a legitimate party, it must at least “contest” elections at every level, meaning it must field candidates for every office from President to city council (or at least Congress). More importantly, its candidates must win a handful of these elections. While it is not impossible for a third party to transform the political party system through its own electoral success, history is not on its side. More often than not, third parties that experience some initial success end up fading after one (or both) of the two major parties “steals” its issues.

Now with that under our belt….are political parties necessary?

The simplest answer is that….they are NOT necessary but that they are needed….why would I say that?  They are needed because most Americans use them to decide where to put their votes…..they do not attempt to focus their attention on the whole picture just on a single issue….like guns or marriage or yada yada……

Americans for the most part are independent politically….however with that said, they are single issue voters and because of that they look for the candidate that most is in line with their thinking….and that means political parties.  Americans seem to do very little research into the issues…they will check out a candidate but they are looking more at his/her personality and not specific stands on issues….the Political Wire had a good report on a recent poll that illustrates what I am saying……

A Bloomberg National Poll finds that by a two-to-one margin, likely voters in the midterm elections think taxes have gone up, the economy has shrunk, and the billions lent to banks as part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program won’t be recovered.

The facts: The Obama administration cut taxes for middle-class Americans, has overseen an economy that has grown for the past four quarters and expects to make a profit on the hundreds of billions of dollars spent to rescue Wall Street banks.

Said pollster Ann Selzer: “The public view of the economy is at odds with the facts, and the blame has to go to the Democrats. It does not matter much if you make change, if you do not communicate change.”

The American people need to spend a little more time researching the issues so they can make a valid and accurate statement with their vote….this cannot be accomplished watching reality TV or the World of Poker contest or the UFC…I am probably talking to myself….but nothing ventured…nothing gained….

Is This The Politics You Want?

From the VOMITORIUM

The 2010 mid terms are a wealth of crap!  There are candidates on both sides that if their IQ ever gets to a 100, I suggest they sell and start over….I have never in my 40+ years of political observations seen such a wide array of morons, idiots and perverts running for office…..

I mean we have had all sorts of attacks, personal ones especially, this candidate is a witch…that one is gay…that one is sexually active….this one is a rubber stamp…this one…..well you know on and on and on and……..all total CRAP!

But this one is my fav as far as stupidity goes…….

Vote for Him and He’ll Kill Your Dog http://pwire.at/cdK569

It just gets worse the closer we get to election day, Nov. 2, 2010……the sad part is that some of it is working on the voter….does that surprise you?  Really?  To me it makes perfect sense because the population is so concerned with gossip and mindless dribble…..a society that makes stupidity like Jackass..the movie a hit….or reality shows like Jersey Shore…a hit….or Dancing with the stars a must see TV program…..and a society that thinks poker is a sport……appeals to an electorate that has an IQ that matches their shoe size……WE ARE DOOMED!

A Constitutional Conservative?

College of Political Knowledge

Professor’s Classroom

2010/2012 Election Series

Lecture #4

After a series of primaries, the never ending primaries and elections, I was watching FOX News and heard Sarah Palin answer a question about the latest primary in Alaska….

In an interview Wednesday, Sarah Palin told Fox Business that while it makes sense that Massachusetts might “put up with Scott Brown,” the new Republican star senator wouldn’t last in Alaska.

“By the way, is Scott Brown on notice? I mean, he’s gone along with the Pelosi-Reid message for the past couple of votes,” the anchor asked.

Palin nodded. “Well, you know, take the consideration, though, that’s Massachusetts, and perhaps they’re not going to look for such a hardcore constitutional conservative there, and they’re gonna put up with Scott Brown and some of the antics there,” she said.

And her answer got me thinking about what a “Constitutional Conservative” really is…not some bastardized definition to fit a certain issue but the whole thing….first of all, it is over-used and seldom understood….this from the Foundation of Constitutional Conservatism…….

The foundation of Constitutional Conservatism stems from four simple ideas, expanding from one core principle — a return to the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Both major parties ignore the Constitution when it suits them, and this must not be.

  1. Textual interpretation of the Constitution — The Constitution is not a “living document”.
  2. Fiscal responsibility — If you spend more than you take in, you’re in trouble. All levels of government must balance budgets each year.
  3. Charity — It is not the role of government to take care of people. Each citizen has a moral responsibility to help those less fortunate.
  4. Personal responsibility — It’s time society stops allowing “victims” to shift the blame somewhere else — it’s not the twinkie’s fault[3].

NOTE: The complete article on Constitutional Conservatism is available as PDF.

I am not advocating anything here….I just want people to start talking in realities and leave the political sensationalism in the toilet where it belongs…..

So when people call for a return to Constitutional Conservatism and in the same breath call for part of the Constitution to be repealed….are NOT constitutional conservatives….shall I repeat that for those that are having a hard time grasping the idea…..those people calling for a return to constitutional conservatism call for the repealing of parts of the Constitution are NOT constitutional conservatives!

Shall I go on or have I done my part in making the point?

Our “Pledge To America”….(Yawn)

From the VOMITORIUM

There has been a “Contract with America” and a “Road Map for America” and now we have their “Pledge To America”…..This is just a re-tool of the 1994 document…..apparently, they hope that NO one can remember back 16 years ago…well…they failed on my part….I recall the games that have been played and believe me this is a game and the only loser will be YOU!

For a breakdown of the document, check out “Pledge to America: The New Republican Agenda,” by CBS News Senior Political Producer Jill Jackson. Below are some highlights, and the full document is at the bottom.

Jobs:

– Stop job-killing tax hikes

– Allow small businesses to take a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their income  (This is a good one…since they are NOT talking about real small businesses of 25 employees or less, but rather the multi-million dollar corporations that can claim the title thanx to the massive tax code.)

– Require congressional approval for any new federal regulation that would add to the deficit

– Repeal small business mandates in the new health care law.

Cutting Spending:

– Repeal and Replace health care

– Roll back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels before TARP and stimulus (will save $100 billion in first year alone)

– Establish strict budget caps to limit federal spending going forward

– Cancel all future TARP payments and reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Reforming Congress:

– Will require that every bill have a citation of constitutional authority

– Give members at least 3 days to read bills before a vote

(None of these will reform Congress…it is more of a delaying game than a fix…besides sounds good in the bites they release to the media….a game)

Defense:

– Provide resources to troops

– Fund missile defense

– Enforce sanctions in Iran

(Now here is the telling part of this “Pledge”……3 little mentions to the industry that depends on the GOP for its massive profit from lucrative contracts…this one was purposefully avoided)

Buried somewhere in the 21 pages was the traditional GOP stands….

The GOP pledge reiterates the party’s opposition to abortion rights and gay marriage, and promises to keep trials of suspected terrorists off U.S. soil and in military, rather than civilian, courts. Republican leaders are also vowing to boost funding for a missile defense shield and allow state and local law enforcement officials to enforce federal immigration laws.

There you are…the “new” ideas from the GOP….the only problem is that it is a re-hash of the 1994 “Contract With America” and another re-hash of the same “Contract” was last year’s GOP “Roadmap For America’s Future” and now we have their “Pledge”…

This should worry the Repub faithful….why?  There is NOTHING new in their ideas…it is the same lame, vague promises they always make and somehow never get to the point where they implement them…..

Personally, I want to see new ideas…..anyone and I mean ANYONE can re-hash from the past…..IMO, it shows a serious lack of imagination or will to actually make things better in Washington…..
