It’s An Eclipse Not An Apocalypse

Today is the big day and all eyes will turn to the sun and the possibility of witnessing a solar eclipse….but there are those among us that have seen some horrific things emanating from the eclipse….one such theory is that it is proof that the US is a ‘wicked nation’….to those people that believe my advice is stop drinking too much sacrificial wine.

Then there is yet another stupidity that the eclipse will be a human sacrifice event……

The internet is buzzing ahead of Monday’s total solar eclipse, with conspiracy theories about the rare celestial event spreading like wildfire.

Some are much more outlandish than others, however, with one particularly wild theory speculating that the phenomenon will lead to “a massive human sacrifice event.” Taking to the r/conspiracy subreddit, a Reddit page for sharing conspiracy theories about a multitude of topics and discussing them with others, Redditor u/wefellinloveinnyc expressed their fears surrounding the solar eclipse on Monday.

They cited maps showing the eclipse’s path of totality and that of previous American eclipses as well as the locations of major businesses like Tesla or other geographic features like fault lines as they relate to the paths of totality. “The April 8th ‘Great American Eclipse’ & Why I Believe They Are Planning A Massive Human Sacrifice Event” was what the user titled their post before launching into four paragraphs “backing up” their claim.

These idiots show just how ignorant the population has become….it is sad.

If you plan on viewing the eclipse then please follow all safety precautions.

Wolves In Priest Clothing

One of the biggest stories this past week was abuse cases in Baltimore.

Yet another scandal involving the Catholic Church…..sexual abuse, in cased you were confused….

This time it is the archdiocese of Baltimore and the number of cases is greater than 500….

Maryland’s attorney general released the results Wednesday of a four-year state investigation into the sexual abuse and torture of children by clergy members and employees of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The report covers the totality of 80 years of mistreatment, during which it says 156 members of Catholic clergy abused at least 600 children, CNN reports. From the 1940s through 2002, the report says, they “engaged in horrific and repeated abuse of the most vulnerable children in their communities while Archdiocese leadership looked the other way.” At a news conference, Anthony Brown pronounced Wednesday “a day of reckoning and a day of accounting.”

The investigation found that one deacon admitted abusing more than 100 children, the Baltimore Sun reports. Even after the Rev. John Joseph Mike pleaded guilty to abusing a boy, he was assigned to a parish in Clarksville. A victim wrote in his diary that Mike tied him up, suspended him from a basketball backboard in the parish gym, and whipped him 150 times. Hundreds of abuse survivors were interviewed for the investigation; the state report called the scope of the abuse “astonishing.” Brown met with advocates and survivors Wednesday to hear their accounts. “What was consistent throughout the stories was the absolute authority and power these abusive priests and the church leadership held over survivors, their families and their communities,” he said.

In many cases, the report says, the archdiocese knew of the abusers but did little to stop them. They often were transferred to new jobs, even after admitting to abuse, where they mistreated more children. When looking into abuse, the report said, police, prosecutors, and local news media often treated church leaders with deference. The attorney general said many of the abusers have since died or can’t be prosecuted because of statutes of limitations. “While it may be too late for the survivors to see criminal justice served, we hope that exposing the archdiocese’s transgressions to the fullest extent possible will bring some measure of accountability and perhaps encourage others to come forward,” Brown said.

When will the church start making these perverts pay for the crimes?

After all these religious types are sexual predators….plain and simple.

Warning:  Keep your children away from youth ministers.

Happy Easter

Enjoy your day….be well and be safe.

The Accuser Becomes The Accused

In the past all the abuse issues that the Catholic church as been dealing  with has the protestants condemning the church for allowing….basically covering up the abuses by the clergy…..

Personally I am no fan of organized religion basically because it is hypocrisy at its highest….the leaders lie and cheat….and that is where this post picks up…..

Now the Southern Baptist Convention is at the heart of a controversy…..

An outside investigation released Sunday by the Southern Baptist Convention found that survivors of sexual abuse were ignored, or worse, for decades by clergy. The almost 300-page report mostly addresses leaders’ handling of reported abuse, the Washington Post reports, but includes details on individual cases. “While stories of abuse were minimized, and survivors were ignored or even vilified,” the report says, “revelations came to light in recent years that some senior SBC leaders had protected or even supported alleged abusers.” Members expressed shock at the scope of the problem in the nation’s biggest Protestant denomination.

“I knew it was rotten, but it’s astonishing and infuriating,” said Jennifer Lyell, whose abuse case is included in the report. She once was the convention’s highest-paid female executive. Internal fights over how to handle abuse cases have gone on for years, and leaders have objected to comparisons with the abuse in the Catholic Church, arguing that the number of Southern Baptist cases is much lower. “This is a denomination (that) is through and through about power,” Lyell said, per the Post. “It is misappropriated power. It does not in any way reflect the Jesus I see in the scriptures.”

In an opinion piece that went up Sunday on Christianity Today, Russell Moore writes that “crisis is too small a word” for what the Southern Baptist Convention faces now. “It is an apocalypse.” Moore has been on the convention’s Executive Committee and called for the investigation; he was expecting bad behavior to be found. But “the investigation uncovers a reality far more evil and systemic than I imagined it could be,” he writes. Moore says he’s attended his last committee meeting and likens the leaders’ behavior to a criminal conspiracy. “It’s even more than just a crime,” he writes. “It’s blasphemy.” You can read the full piece here.

The SBC has decided to head off the bad news as best they can…..

The depth of the problem surprised almost everyone, but the themes revealed in Sunday’s bombshell report on sexual abuse and coverups within the Southern Baptist Convention are not new to Christa Brown. She says she was sexually abused as a child by a minister, and she has been fighting for decades to bring light to the issue. Prompted by a motion Brown posted on Monday, the SBC’s Executive Committee voted Tuesday to publish a previously secret database of people accused of committing abuse. Per the Washington Post, the committee also voted to issue a public apology and direct rebuke of former General Counsel August Boto.

“I’m grateful for what we saw today, truly. I am also waiting and hoping for real action and not just words,” Brown said, according to the Post. “Not words, not lament, not thoughts and prayers, real meaningful action that will help survivors.” The decision to release the list was made during a Zoom meeting of the 68-member board that serves as the administrative arm of the SBC. During the meeting, interim committee President Willie McLaurin said: “Now is the time to change the culture. We need to be proactive in our openness, in our transparency from this moment forward.”

The committee’s statement of apology focused on a 2006 letter in which Boto decried Brown’s use of “hyperbole, argumentative language, strident tones, [and] pejorative adjectives” and said “continued discourse between us will not be positive or fruitful.” That letter is seen as emblematic of a systemic, longstanding dismissiveness and hostility toward abuse survivors by SBC leaders. Per the Tennessean, the committee said in its apology that it “rejects this sentiment in its entirety and seeks to publicly repent for its failure to rectify this position.” According to Kentucky Today, SBC counsel says the list will be reviewed prior to release, “with names of abuse survivors, names of potential confidential witnesses, and uncorroborated allegations of abuse redacted.”

So sad that clergy use their position of power and influence to abuse….when caught they cry and beg…..but how much crying did these people do before they were caught?  And how long have they been preying on their flock?

I may be a bad person but their is no forgiveness from me…..ever.

Liberty University Has Made The News (Again)

It seems that Liberty U has become a hot bed for sexual deviants….first it was the sexual exploits of the founder’s son a school president, Falwell….then the school hires the sexual predator coach from Ole Miss…..from the professor who abduct a student to the rapes on campus…..and now more sexual exploits in the school…..

A professor at the conservative Christian Liberty University in Virginia has been accused of abduction and sexual battery of a student. William Atwell, an associate professor of American Sign Language, was arrested on Nov. 20 in connection with an accusation of sexual battery on Sept. 15 and abduction on Nov. 19. A spokesperson for the school said in a statement that Atwell has been suspended and the school is taking the matter seriously. Inappropriate sexual contact with a student is “something for which there is zero tolerance,” the spokesperson said, per NBC News.

The student reported the incidents to the school, which turned it over to the police. Liberty has been under fire in the past for how it handles accusations of sexual assault at the school. Twelve women are suing the school, CNN reports. The women, former students and staff plus one minor who was not a student, filed a complaint in federal court saying the school created a hostile environment and punished people who reported misconduct. Scott Lamb, senior vice president of communications and public engagement until Liberty fired him in October, has filed a lawsuit with similar charges, too, the News & Advance reports. Scott says he was fired in retaliation for coming forward, and the school has pushed back hard against the allegations.

Is this where right wing pervs go for an education?

A terrible record for a supposedly religious university….but then I never trusted a group that teaches junk science as fact.

A pack of hypocrites charged with of children’s future….

Closing Thought–27Sep21

Ever wonder why the promise of the prodigal son, Jesus, has not happened?

It is promised by most of the WASP religions and yet nothing has happened….why is that?

It seems that some idiotic evangelical has the answer for the faithful….

If we want Jesus to come back, then apparently we’ll have to dig deep into our pockets, according to right-wing evangelical pastor Jesse Duplantis.

During a recent four-day, live TV event Victorython on the Victory channel, Duplantis made the bizarre claim that people aren’t donating to their churches generously enough, and this is the reason why Jesus has not yet made a reappearance.

“I honestly believe this — the reason why Jesus hasn’t come is because people are not giving the way God told them to give,” he said, “when you understand this, you can speed up the time.”

Who knew, the son of God was so money motivated?

Later on in the show, Duplantis further explained why if everyone called the number listed at the bottom of the screen to donate, “God the Father would say ‘Jesus, go get ‘em.’”

“I realized that I will not move people emotionally to give,” he said. “I’m gonna have people move according to the word of God. What is God saying to you?

“I really believe this, if people would call this number and put this victory all over the world, every available voice, every available outlet, God the Father would say, ‘Jesus, go get ’em.’ Because, you see, he wants to see us as much as we want to see him. … And so what is hindering all these things is because people are not doing in the financial realm — because we’re living in an economic world — what God’s called them to do.”

I have always thought that these toads were a greedy lot….but this is beyond the pail….

Just another reason I have NO use for organized religion, especially the Evangelicals….I want nothing to do with a religion that wants me to pay to pray or takes attendance…..

But that is just me….you do what the spirit moves you to do…..

That ‘Old Time Religion’

I usually do not post much on religion for to me it is a personal thing and should stay with the person….but here I will make an exception because of all the religious bullshit around this Covid thing and a lot of false and misleading info is coming out of them mouths of religious MORONS….it is pathetic and it is not helping.

But why do they choose stupid over knowledge?

From Darwin to COVID the church has been wrong. It’s really about fear among the Christian faithful when they turn away from science. Even scientific theory is dismissed out of hand by the church because of a fear that somehow science will prove that God does not exist. As the pandemic spreads from one church to another and global warming continues to be ignored by the evangelical movement, it is clear that practitioners of the current Christian faith have not evolved from their ancestors who condemned Galileo and Darwin.

This is why it has been so difficult to get evangelicals to accept things proven by the scientific community. You have probably noticed that many Republicans still will not confirm that climate change is even a thing. They almost certainly know better but are spineless, too afraid to alienate their hardcore Christian constituency, despite the clear ignorance behind the evangelical understanding of the climate crisis.

https://www.salon.com/2021/08/28/evangelicals-science-and-the-vaccine-refusal-is-built-on-deep-seated-fear/

What are white evangelical Repubs afraid of?

The belief that God controls everything that happens in the world is a core tenet of evangelicalism — 84 percent of white evangelicals agreed with this statement in PRRI polling from 2011, while far fewer nonwhite, non-evangelical Christians shared this belief. The same poll also showed that white evangelicals were more likely than any other Christian group to believe that God would punish nations for the sins of some of its citizens and that natural disasters were a sign from God. What’s more, other research from the Journal of Psychology and Theology has found that some evangelical Christians rationalize illnesses like cancer as God’s will.

Why Some White Evangelical Republicans Are So Opposed To The COVID-19 Vaccine

My question is…if God controls everything why does he not protect us from bullets or hunger or homelessness?

Somewhere in the myths I believe there is something written about ‘bearing false witness’ and these bigots charlatans break that rule on almost every occasion.

In 1980 when Reagan was running for the presidency I aid that it was a big mistake to allow the religious chattering class to become part of the campaign….good to see I have not lost my touch.

I am starting to have NO compassion for these idiots….for if you take health advice from a pastor then maybe God is deciding who lives and dies…..and you could be of the short end of that stick.

Closing Thought–12Aug21

I have NO time form religious charlatans….those poser that pretend to speak for god/Jesus…..most evangelicals are the worse of a useless bunch.

Charlatans like this ‘pastor’ on Covid…….

Speaking to a crowd of around 1,000 worshippers at the three-day America’s Revival event this Friday, right-wing preacher Joshua Feuerstein told the group to abandon masks and to forgo vaccines, since all they really need for protection is Jesus.

“Listen to me … and let me speak now to the cameras around the world to every pastor that’s watching this broadcast, to every Christian that has cowered in their home,” Feuerstein said. “I realize that for this last year, that maybe you’ve been fed fear … but the Bible says that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but a power and a love and a sound mind.”

“You have sound mind!” Feuerstein declared to the audience. “You don’t have to wear a mask! You got Jesus. You don’t need the vaccine! You got Jesus.”

https://www.rawstory.com/preacher-joshua-feuerstein/

If this is possibly true then I would like to ask why then if Jesus will protect these people why would he also not protect them from bullets and hunger?

Events are proving this is nothing but pure bullshit.

At what point do the people stop throwing their hard fought money at these posers?

The Flock Flees

For too long there has been a religious presence in politics that has brought about the culture wars….those issues that have NOTHING to do with this countries well being.

There are too many ‘pastors’ that try to influence politicians…not with blessings but rather with cash…..thus the culture wars continue.

This abortion of American society has been holding politicians by the cajones for about 40+ years……but that hold may be loosening….

For the first time in the United States, church attendance has dropped below 50 percent, Gallup revealed Monday.

It’s a warning that was issued when evangelical churches began loudly pushing far-right policies and supporting Republican candidates. While there are progressive and non-partisan churches that have risen above the fray, many of the loudest voices have been those promoting conservative policies.

“U.S. church membership was 73 percent when Gallup first measured it in 1937 and remained near 70 percent for the next six decades, before beginning a steady decline around the turn of the 21st century,” the report said.

https://www.rawstory.com/churches-losing-people/

And this…

https://www.rawstory.com/gop-religion/

What could make Americans flee from ‘church’….well there is an opinion why….

Because, while church membership is declining, people are still as hungry for the things of God as they ever have been. People are still seeking justice, forgiveness, hope, love and belonging. People are still desperate for mercy, for meaning, for second chances. People are still seeking the Holy, and the Holy One is still seeking people. So the problem isn’t with those outside the church, and it certainly isn’t with God. The problem — and it is a problem — is with us. The problem is that most of the church in America looks more like America than the body of Christ.

The church makes the news for all the wrong reasons — seminary leaders who passionately denounce Critical Race Theory but are silent about the white supremacy that forms their curriculum and institutions. Pastors who care more about not being called racist than learning how to meaningfully participate in racial reconciliation. Christians who care more about defending their right to buy a weapon than advocating to end police brutality.

I agree that religion spends too much time trying to force Americans to believe inn their vision of the ‘perfect’ society instead of working on the souls and the spiritual needs of their flocks.

Time for religious leaders to step back and only comment when asked….I have never asked but I am still bombarded with stuff that means little to me.

Covid-19 Charlatans

Sorry for the redundancy but these types of people chap my ass!

We have heard the stories of those pigs that are price gouging…..and those that are hoarding stuff…..but the worse of the worse are those religious types that are pretending to care about their flocks.

Like that idiot pastor in Louisiana that defied the isolation rule and pack his so-called church……and that has lead to the death of a parishioner….

A parishioner at the Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana has reportedly died from the coronavirus weeks after the church’s pastor defied his state’s ban on large gatherings to hold packed church services.

Local news station KALB reports that a coroner’s report of a 78-year-old parishioner of the church revealed that he had died after being infected with COVID-19.

“The coroner’s report lists the man’s cause of death as acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, and COVID-19,” KALB reports. “Acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia are frequently found in patients who die of coronavirus.”

(Raw Story)

By the way the pastor’s name is Tony Spell

Where have I heard that name?   Thinking…..thinking…..

Oh yeah…he is that religious clown that wants your stim check……

In a video posted to YouTube on Wednesday, the Rev. Tony Spell called on the public to get behind a new online challenge he is dubbing the #PastorSpellStimulusChallenge.

There are three rules to the challenge, Spell said in the video. The first rule is that it starts on Sunday. The second, he said, is for people to “donate your stimulus money.”

“Rule number three,” he continued, is to “donate it to evangelists, North American evangelists who haven’t had an offering in a month; missionaries, who haven’t had an offering in a month; music ministers, who haven’t had an offering in a month.”

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/493237-louisiana-pastor-donate-stimulus-checks-evangelists

These evangelists care more about cash than their flocks…and that goes for Falwell, Graham and any other money hungry religious leader.

First this fool can BITE ME!  Second…a man of GOD MY ASS!

These people are why Christianity gets a bad name…..they do not represent the teachings of Christ….only their individual GREED!

Stay away from charlatans like this “man” (I use the term “man” loosely) for the “flock” means nothing to them….they just see dollar signs not the faithful.
