More Troops For The Fire

As usual an announcement was made that more troops would be sought to throw into the fires around the world….and as usual….NO one noticed.

ABC News is reporting tonight that the Pentagon has been quietly deploying special forces units across the Middle East, particularly in Yemen, and in several nations around Northern Africa, moves seen as a prelude to an escalation in attacks on al-Qaeda and ISIS-linked forces across the region.

Officials say that there is a sense that the Trump Administration is more interested in using special operations’ forces, and that they are particularly interested in attacking al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) targets in Yemen, saying the lack of a functioning government in Yemen justifies more US operations.

Troops around the horn of Africa and elsewhere across the continent’s north are also being deployed, and while the exact details on what they’re going to end up doing aren’t yet clear, those familiar with the situation say the deployed troops expect to “see a lot of action.”

“See a lot of action”….now there is an ominous prediction…..

  1. I try to support any president we have, regardless of whether I voted for the jerk or not. But these endless wars have got to stop!!

  2. The scary thing is we’ve heard for centuries that no battle plan survives intact after the first shot’s fired, or the first hour, or something like that.

The scarier thing is I can’t recall many plans being made at all–before the troops hit the ground–the past couple of decades. Let alone plans for ending things well.

Heaven help us all, especially the forces on the ground moving around to appease a wannabe military leader. Crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, and gritting my teeth.

    1. So very true….there is seldom an end game…..mission parameter only apply to the attack not the end….this is why NO war since WW2 has had a successful “peace”….chuq

  3. Though a bit grim, I did find some amusement in this… One of the responder’s comments, fortunately, brought this to mind, which pretty much explains the whole deal…

“Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.” — Douglas Adams, Last Chance to See

Humans refuse to learn the lessons of history, in spite of a great many of us warning the rest to do so.. But, to the fucking insane assholes who buy into hierarchal thinking, and delusional belief in their own adequacy, history teaches nothing, for they are able to reject anything that doesn’t fit their preconceived notions, or their belief in their own entitlement…

They’re ignorant, and completely lacking in those qualities which define their humanity, and, quite simply, don’t care who gets hurt by their ignorance.

    gigoid, the dubious

  4. There was another detailed report on the BBC last night about US ground troops fighting in Mosul. It seems that there are many more ‘boots on the ground’ there than you are being informed about.
    Regards, Pete.

      1. It is better than some other news channels, but I am aware of its shortcomings.. And unless they were using a film set and extras (possible, of course) there were US troops fighting in Mosul.
Naturally, it is also possible that I am delusional. Thanks for adding ‘with respect’, in that case.

      2. I suggest, with respect, you obtain your info from other sources than the TV…which is mind boggling stupid & reduces it’s watchers to programmed walking dead.

      3. You do not have too…check the facts for yourself…try tuning into Newsbud or Sibel Edmunds & James Corbett. We all here campaigned against the BBC & cancelled our TV license. Look who owns the BBC.They who spew out the agenda.

      4. OK, I’m bowing out in the face of your onslaught. I have obviously upset you in some way, and quite frankly I am too old, and life is too short, to keep harping on about the same old stuff.

      5. onslaught? I suppose truth could be considered an onslaught…I am too old to get upset…probably older than you…try this… & very good it is too. the world is the way it is…however I still do my best as a great grandmother for the kids. 🙂
