The days of whine and roses are upon us…….we have 2 presumptive nominees and the campaigns will start their attacks on the ones they feel will be their opponents for the general.
To say that either of the two would be my pick would be a stretch…but then I did not have a horse in this race for you see I think the foreign policy will be the big issue that the new prez will have to face…..neither gives me much confidence…….
But I will say that I was somewhat impressed by part of Trump’s last major foreign policy speech……..most of it was his typical ramblings and the inevitable applause lines….but there was one thing that he said that stuck out…at least for me…..
“Instead of trying to spread universal values that not everybody shares or wants, we should understand that strengthening and promoting Western civilization and its accomplishments will do more to inspire positive reforms around the world than military interventions.”
His non-interventionist tone was very surprising…..and a bit optimistic……not that it would lead me to vote for him….but just maybe the tone from his opponent might soften a bit…..I mean if it is popular and would lead to more votes why would she not attempt to tamp down her neocon rhetoric?
Is it possible that the Times they are a changin’?
Or is all this so much bullsh*t…..political rhetoric if you want to be polite?
We know a politician will say whatever it takes to win an election…….
