The Ghosts of Vietnam Should Haunt Us – but Don’t – The Unz Review

40 years ago the War in Vietnam came to an ugly end……the fall of Saigon.

Most of us that served in Vietnam have scars of some sort……some are deeper and others not so much….nonetheless there are scars…….that haunt us in our dreams, our thoughts and our lives.

I would like to believe that our experiences in that war made us a better person…..we remember what war was like and there is a significant portion of the population that have no idea…..and for that reason this country has made some bonehead decisions internationally……decisions that have been costly…..but who is keeping score?

For one…..I AM!

I think that the ghosts of Vietnam should be on the minds of everyone making life and death decisions for our military……..

Afghanistan: The Next Frontier

Looks like today I will be spending my time trying to debunking some of the fear and misinformation that the media and others are trying to make into some new talking points and spread around like peanut butter…….we have been bombarded with lots of ISIS activity in the last couple of days…..do not get me wrong….ISIS is a barbaric organization that deserves nothing short of total destruction…..they are miserable enough that we can do away with them on their own actions….no need to make sh*t up.

A  couple of weeks ago a suicide bomb went off in North Afghanistan and before the debris had finished falling from the sky ISIS has been blamed for the attack……

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan (AP) — A motorcycle-riding suicide bomber attacked a line of people waiting outside a bank Saturday in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least 35 and wounding 125 in an assault the country’s president blamed on the Islamic State group.

The accusation by President Ashraf Ghani, following local media reporting the Islamic State group’s Afghan affiliate claiming the attack, would mark a major escalation in the extremists’ nascent campaign of violence in the country.

I said then that it was too easy.  I seriously doubted that it was an ISIS affiliation because most of their affiliates are in North Africa and Middle East, mostly Iraq and Syria and Libya……there are some media sources that want this to be ISIS……..the UK’s Guardian reported……..

Afghanistan is bracing for an upsurge in violence as spring begins with a new maverick force emerging: militants associating themselves with Islamic State.

A statement that is not founded in reality…..there was and is nothing to suggest the ISIS has branched out and into Afghanistan.  Soon, headlines in both Afghan and international media announced that ISIL had just pulled off one of their largest attacks yet outside the Middle East. This came on the back of months of speculation about ISIL’s reach in Afghanistan, with militant groups flying the feared black flag being spotted from Kandahar in the south to Kunduz in the north.

As usual blame everything on ISIS and your wishes will be granted.  Instill fear and your hopes will be fulfilled.  All this speculation was for American audiences….fear buys a lot of help.

Keep in mind….when you need militarism then you invent a threat to justify policies and budgets.  Fear is a money maker.

ISIS: Take Me To Your Leader

About a month ago I wrote that the head honcho of ISIS, a dude named al-Baghdadi, had been seriously injured in an airstrike.  I did also comment that it was not a confirmed report and that I would watch for confirmation.

Last week I got that conformation……UK’s Guardian was reporting that al-Baghdadi was not doing well and that he was suffering serious spinal injuries from a coalition airstrike……and again I stated that the full report was not confirmed and may be hearsay or wishful thinking…..

But over the weekend this report came through…….reported by an Israeli source…..(their info is not as trustworthy as one would expect.)…….

Abu Alaa al-Afri, who is said to be the acting leader of the Islamic State after leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was reportedly gravely wounded in an assassination attempt, is a mysterious figure on whom very little credible information is available.

He was al-Baghdadi’s second-in-command, and even before al-Baghdadi’s reported incapacitating injury, al-Afri had a dominant role in the terror organization’s leadership. But beyond that – very little is known about him.

Al-Afri, a former physics teacher whose age is unknown, was born in the city al-Khidr, some 80 km south of Mosul, the strategic Iraqi city under Islamic State control since last summer.

Like al-Baghdadi, al-Afri has been a member of al-Qaeda – the organization that later spawned the Islamic State – for years. In 1998 he went to Afghanistan, and later made his way up the ranks of al-Qaeda. He was loyal to the organizations’ Iraqi branch leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Okay if report is accurate…..we have a new leader of ISIS who is smarter, and with good charisma which will make him more dangerous than his predecessor…..

ISIS: Attack On Texas

Opinion from the fingers of Chuq

Garland, Texas was the scene of the newest terrorist attack in the US……the media is doing what it always does……speculating and misleading…..and will give the purveyors of hate a national stage from which to preach and the hate group that set up the cartoon fest has been validated….and now word has come to light that it was an ISIS operation……

Personally I think it has little do actually do with ISIS….it was lone wolves and terrorists wannabes…..but I am not alone in my disbelief of this being an ISIS operation…….

While ISIS sought to claim credit for the weekend attack on a cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, officials say this is almost certainly false, and that the attackers were probably lone wolves attacking on their own.

Homeland Security Chair Rep. Michael McCaul (R – TX) said the evidence pointed toward the attack not being directed by ISIS, “but rather inspired by them,” calling it a “textbook case of what we’re most concerned about.”

For decades so-called terrorists have been claiming responsibility for attacks that had little to do with them…….it is a propaganda tool….it is that simple.

To me these guys were wannabes because that showed NO training at all…..I mean the only other person hurt in the attack was a security officer who was shot in the ankle (someone needs to explain how that happened……I am sure it will be an interesting tale)…….

This was a lone wolf operation from start to finish carried out by amateurs…..to speculate that this is somehow a coordinated attack is misinformation and disingenuous…..

Americans are so afraid of the words “Muslim” and “Islam” that they will believe any scenario that feeds that fear.  But what this story will do is feed the fears and give more clout to the hate mongers that get rich off that fear.

The Texas attack over the weekend helped prove one point….Hate Begets Hate!

Hate For Profit pays off….it takes some time but eventually with enough hate…..their stances will be validated…..as it was in Garland, Texas……with validation comes an increase of donations and such…….hate has always been profitable….

Texas: Are You Fracking Kidding Me?

I have found a few articles in the last couple of days that leads me to believe that Texans elect the most batcrap crazies in the state.

All the uproar about fracking and the damage it could possibly do has been all over the tube for a couple of years…..we have minor earthquakes, rotten water and pollution…..the big debate is what to do about fracking….is it really worth the dangers it could impose?

It appears that Texas has found a way to settle the debate……..

Texas moved Monday to ban its own cities from imposing prohibitions on hydraulic fracturing and other potentially environmentally harmful oil and natural gas drilling activities within their boundaries – a major victory for industry groups and top conservatives who have decried rampant local “overregulation.”

The bill last month overwhelmingly cleared the House, which  Republicans control by a 2-to-1 margin, and passed the GOP-dominated Senate almost as easily Monday – sending it to Gov. Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign it into law.

To all my readers and followers from Texas…..I apologize if it appears I am picking on Texas…..but I still cannot get over all the BATCRAP  CRAZY stuff you guys are doing…….

Hopefully you can find a cure for the condition……..if you do please4 pass it on….I live in Mississippi and we are pretty much trying to out batcrap crazy Texas……
