Constants In The Media

Ever noticed that there are a few constants in American media reporting?  Brit royals do anything……..Pope is God………and Israel can do no wrong……just to mention a few.

For instance the reporting coming out of the Palestine……if a lone Palestinian stabs a pedestrian it makes the news….but when a Arab saves some Jews from angry protesters you never hear about it……and then there is the Pope……if he farts we hear about it or if he wipes his butt with $100 bills it is a major story…….and about now you are wondering what the Hell I am going on about…..am I right?

I can give you an example of both in one international story……by international I mean the rest of the world barring the US………

Pope Francis canonized two nuns from what was 19th-century Palestine today in hopes of encouraging Christians across the Middle East who are facing a wave of persecution from Islamic extremists. Sisters Mariam Bawardy and Marie Alphonsine Ghattas were among four nuns who were made saints today. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and an estimated 2,000 pilgrims from the region, some waving Palestinian flags, were on hand for the canonization of the first saints from the Holy Land since the early years of Christianity. They were canonized alongside two other nuns, Saints Jeanne Emilie de Villeneuve from France and Maria Cristina of the Immaculate Conception from Italy.

“Inspired by their example of mercy, charity, and reconciliation, may the Christians of these lands look with hope to the future,” Francis said.

  • Bawardy was a mystic born in 1843 in what is now the Galilee region of northern Israel. She is said to have received the “stigmata”—bleeding wounds like those Jesus Christ suffered on the cross—and died at the age of 33 in Bethlehem, where she founded a Carmelite order monastery that still exists.
  • Ghattas, born in Jerusalem in 1847, opened girls’ schools, fought female illiteracy, and co-founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Rosary. The order today boasts centers all over the Middle East that operate kindergartens, homes for the elderly, and medical clinics.

Francis praised Bawardy as having been “a means of encounter and fellowship with the Muslim world,” while Ghattas “shows us the importance of becoming responsible for one another, of living lives of service to one another.”

Two Palestinian women become saints and it was not a story worthy of the American media’s attention…….

The media seem to overlook this story in favor of one about something as mundane and pathetic as Mitt’s boxing debut……anyone that looks to the MSM for news is looking up the wrong tree……..

The American media is pathetic…..and that is ALL the outlets from FOX to CNN to MSNBC to ABC to CBS……NONE are worth our time!

But The Economy Will Collapse

Since my interests in politics began I have heard what harm things can do to the economy…..from civil rights to voting rights to women’s rights…….all the monumental changes in our society have been followed by predictions of doom…….

Great moments in American history have been predicted as the fall of the country or at least would collapse the economy…..some of these I can remember as actual talking points….yep, I am that old!

ISIS……Yet Another One Bites The Dust!

ISIS leader has been seriously injured and the number 2 dude is dead during an airstrike and now the leader of ISIS in Syria dealing with finances has been killed and his wife and laptop in US hands……

Last Friday night, US Special Operations attempted to capture a senior ISIS commander and his wife in Syria. The rare raid didn’t go as planned. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter today said that Abu Sayyaf fought back and was killed; the US troops involved were unharmed. They did manage to capture wife Umm Sayyaf, who is being held in Iraq. CNN notes that “Abu Sayyaf is not a name familiar to many ISIS watchers.” Carter gave context: “Abu Sayyaf was involved in ISIL’s military operations and helped direct the terrorist organization’s illicit oil, gas, and financial operations as well.”

NBC News reports that a young Yazidi woman had apparently been enslaved by the couple; she was rescued. The raid, which took place in al-Amr, was carried out on orders of the president, which were given on the “unanimous recommendation” of his national security team. The AP notes this is only the second time troops have carried out a ground raid in Syria……the first one did not go as well as this one…..

This is good news…..the leader can and will be replaced but the intel and the wife during interrogation could be a gold mine of financial data that could help dry up so of the monetary sources for ISIS.

This by NO means spells the end of ISIS but it does aid the fight considerably……

The Phony ‘Bad Intel’ Defense on Iraq « Antiwar.com Blog

The approaching election is once again bring up the questions that have been asked since 2003…..was the invasion of Iraq a good idea?  I know…..a subject that has been done to death……right?

I will continue to point out just how stupid the invasion was…..the death, destruction, chaos and wasted money…..all to kill a guy and get control of a huge oil field….sad part is that this will happen again…..and probably again……..

Of course those on the Right always use the tagline that it was bad intel that caused the invasion and anyone would have made the decision to invade with the intel of the day……personally, I think that is a little weak but it is effective…..after all the American people were naive enough to go along with the scheme and look at what that brought about……..

There is NO excuse for “Bad Intel”…………
