As the media circus continues on the shootings in Tucson, there have been many calling for some sort of gun reform…..and of course there are many that will run out and buy guns because the government will outlaw them….well, if you believe that then you are truly a Mental Midget!
Just like the crisis in education…..this has been a concern for as long as I can remember….it gets lots of press and lots of air time….but just what has been done to improve the education in this country? As usual, the Congress has done NOTHING!
What is that old saying? Oh yeah….talk is cheap!
We have known for sometime that the environment is in deep trouble….at least for the last 35 years…..and what has been done? Lots of talk, lots debate, lots of lies, lots of theater….but what, in reality has been done? once again….NOTHING!
And now with the Tucson shootings, we will have the circus again, but this time it will be about guns…..all the old BS will come out again……the government is coming for your guns, that it is stomping on the 2nd amendment, that NRA will protect you from the government, that…..well you probably have heard all the crap before and will hear it again and again and……what can we say…..no one is serious about making sure that actions like this will never happen again…..all the debate will do is give lots of fodder for the political campaigns to come….
With all the talk and debate (if you can call it that) will go on and on and in the end the same thing will occur……They Will Do Nothing! And doing nothing will almost guarantee that this situation will happen again and again……
Of course theyll do nothing, to do something would cost votes. And votes are far more important than improving the safety of americans.

Yes, it seems unlikely that they will do anything – in fact I doubt there is anything effective that they CAN do…
What is actually required (though it will of course never be 100%) is a more responsible attitude from ordinary folk and gun carriers in particular. But then (aside from the lunatics) ordinary folk are just that – ordinary – and the only way they will learn is if those in power set a better example. From the President on down through ALL the politicians, the senior bureaucrats, the junior bureaucrats, the justice dept, the police and in fact ANYONE in public life, a responsible and common sense attitude is VITAL (and this includes the media too).
I’m not for one moment suggesting any change to the right to bear arms, or free speech, or any of the rest – just the application of some common sense… surely that is not really so very much to ask, is it?
My vote would be to limit all assault weapons of all kinds…..no one needs a machine gun or a pistol that shots 31 rounds in 15 seconds…..if you are that bad of a shot….then stick with a shotgun….more coverage, less ammo….

Anyway, I know it’s a cliche, but it’s still true – guns don’t kill, people do! And there lies the source of the problem!
After watching the new rants on tv tonite, i change my opinion. They have done something. Idiots on the right have decided the answer to gun violence is more guns. Countless times i heard that more people should carry guns. Of course this comes from the party who thinks the answer to the deficit crisis is to stop the flow of money. Go figure….
Yeah, I know, it defies any sort of normal logic. Another answer might be to isolate these types all together and let them shoot the f*ck out of each other!
They tried that at Ruby Ridge, Idaho……and a mother and baby were killed…….but I like the idea of taking political enemies into the woods give them a gun and let them hunt each other and the winner gets to go to Washington……..
It’s probably a better system than the current one, don’t you think? At least you could guarantee that the winner would have SOME ability – even if it was only to be lucky!
I think dualing is how the right should determine nominations. Whoever lives gets to run for office.
I would prefer that they enter in a ring and bare knuckle fight until there is a winner…….at least we could televise that…….the censors would not be a problem…….
