The Real Political Power

This is a look at the real political power in American elections…..AIPAC.

A PAC that has buckets of cash to influence our elected officials in favor of everything Israel.

This PAC should be broken down for what it is…..foreign money in our system for the influence of corrupt politicians.

I believe that AIPAC is too influential and has its tentacles in all aspects of our government…..this can no longer be acceptable.

Any thoughts?

The Games Politicians Play

Midnight today could bring about the shutting down of the government…..and as usual the blame game has already started……the jockeying for position….the he said they did…..the game is afoot!

If he were a betting man, it doesn’t sound like President Trump would be betting on a short-term budget agreement passing Congress by Friday. In brief comments to reporters outside the Pentagon Thursday, Trump said there “could very well be” a shutdown. “We’ll see what happens. It’s up to the Democrats,” Politico quotes him as saying. That seems to be Mitch McConnell’s line, too. Politico reports—by way of GOP sources and an email from McConnell it viewed—that should the short-term funding bill the GOP is pushing not pass by the Friday deadline, McConnell plans to try to foist the blame for the ensuing shutdown on Democrats and their DACA-related demands, particularly those Democrats whose seat will be up for grabs this fall and who hail from states Trump won (there are 10, Politico notes).

The reported strategy is for McConnell to keep the Senate in session all weekend and arrange a slew of votes that could put Dems in a bad light, should they continually vote against things like the Children’s Health Insurance Program. If a shutdown does kick in at midnight Friday, the AP reports the impact would be evident but not paralyzing. Federal workers would be impacted and national parks could close, but essential things—Social Security payments, Homeland Security, the military, air traffic control, food inspection—would truck on. There could be an economic cost, though. In a great primer on what a shutdown could mean, the Los Angeles Times notes that the 16-day 2013 shutdown dropped Q4 GDP growth from 3% to 2.4%, per Standard & Poor’s estimates

This will be just another game that will feed the Twitter account and the media for a few days until a compromise is found….YAWN!

But let us say all falls to shit and the shutdown occurs……

The looming government shutdown has had one tangible effect so far: President Trump has put plans for a trip to his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort on hold, reports NBC News. “The President will not be going to Florida until the CR passes,” the White House said, referring to a continuing resolution to keep the government open before a midnight deadline arrives. Trump had been planning to leave Friday to attend an anniversary bash on Saturday at Mar-a-Lago, a celebration of his first year in office, reports Bloomberg. More on the shutdown, including a Friday meeting between Trump and Chuck Schumer, and its potential effects on everyday life:

  • Prospects: Things are “dicey at best” in terms of a deal, with Politico seeing a “seemingly intractable impasse” in the Senate. One huge sticking point is that Democrats want any spending plan to include protections for about 700,000 young “Dreamer” immigrants. Still, it’s possible the Senate could take some kind of action Friday to stave off the shutdown, if only for the short term. One positive sign: Trump invited Schumer to the White House, and the two were meeting Friday afternoon, per the Hill.
  • The effects: You’ll still get mail if the government shuts down, and Social Security recipients will still get their checks. Air traffic controllers and the TSA would stay on the job, so air travel shouldn’t be greatly affected, explains USA Today. But services deemed “non-essential” would suffer—for example, those waiting on a passport might be out of luck. The AP has a video primer.
  • The furloughs: An estimated 850,000 “non-essential” federal workers can expect to be furloughed, per the Week; the Washington Post has a detailed breakdown. Of note: Military operations and national security wouldn’t be affected, though civilian Pentagon workers would likely be sent home.
  • National parks: Stay tuned. Typically, they close during shutdowns, but the Trump administration is working on a plan to keep them open, if on a limited basis, reports CNN. “The American public and especially our veterans who come to our nation’s capital should find war memorials and open air parks open to the public,” says an Interior Department spokesperson.
  • Blame game: Trump and Republicans were aggressively trying to pin the blame for any shutdown on Democrats. “Democrats are needed if it is to pass in the Senate – but they want illegal immigration and weak borders,” Trump tweeted Friday. “Shutdown coming? We need more Republican victories in 2018!” Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan also went after Democrats, with McConnell saying their “fixation on illegal immigration” will be to blame, reports the AP.
  • The winner? Paul Kane at the Washington Post ponders which side would prevail in the “court of public opinion” and finds that it would boil down to a messaging game. If Democrats can make any shutdown “about Trump and his ability to govern,” they’ll triumph. “If Republicans can make it about immigration, the victory is probably theirs.” A poll by ABC News and the Washington Post is good news for Democrats: 48% say they’d blame Trump and Republicans for a shutdown, 28% blame Democrats, and 18% blame both sides equally.
  • The factions: It’s not just Democrats who would prevent the Senate from getting the necessary 60 votes on a plan, and the New York Times lays out the various factions at play. At least three Republicans are in the “no” camp as well.

Let’s go and start our weekend…..it is cold but warming so go out and make some fun…..peace out…..chuq

Psst! Little Girl Step Into My Office

Most of us Southerns know of Roy Moore and his 10 commandments debacle at the Alabama Supreme Court and his antics afterwards about LGBT issues.  He has been running to replace Sessions as the senator from the great state of Alabama and the scary part is he has a good chance of winning that race……that is until the latest news came out about his early life…..

The latest high-profile figure accused of sexual misconduct is a politician who has staked his career on morality. The Washington Post is out with a detailed report about Alabama’s Roy Moore, the state’s former supreme court justice who is now running for the US Senate. A woman who is now 53 says Moore initiated a sexual encounter with her when she was just 14 and he was a 32-year-old assistant district attorney. Leigh Corfman says that they did not have intercourse, but that Moore drove her to his home, stripped down to his underwear, removed her pants and shirt, and touched her through her bra and underpants. She says that when he began guiding her hand toward his underwear, she recoiled, got dressed, and asked to leave, at which point he drove her home. Moore categorically denies the allegations as “fake news” drummed up by Democrats.

The Post also talks to three other women who say that Moore asked them out on dates, sometimes successfully, when they were between the ages of 16 and 18 and he was in his early 30s and still single. The account given by Corfman is the only one that advances beyond kissing. “I wasn’t ready for that,” Corfman says of Moore’s attempt to guide her hand. “I had never put my hand on a man’s penis, much less an erect one.” She says she first met Moore outside a courtroom, when he approached her and her mother and offered to sit with Corfman while her mom went inside for a custody hearing. In his later career, Moore would twice be removed from his chief justice post for taking stands against gay marriage and his refusal to remove a 10 Commandments plaque. Read the full Post investigation, based on interviews with more than 30 people, here.

I always thought he was a pervert….but now I am more certain than ever.

The cowboy hat wearing gun toting son of a gun has more problems….the politicians in DC are starting to come out against this toad…..

Roy Moore was accused of initiating a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32 in a Washington Post report published Thursday. Three other women say he asked them out on dates while they were between 16 and 18 years old and he was in his 30s. Now Republican senators are calling for the Senate hopeful from Alabama to drop out of the race—with one big caveat. “If these allegations are true, he must step aside,” the Hill quotes Sen. Mitch McConnell as saying in a statement. “If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election,” Sen. Cory Gardner added.

I agree….time for this pervert get on his high horse and get the f*ck out of Dodge while he can……

But wait there is someone who is defending this person and it is the scum of the earth…….Bannon……

Minutes before the Washington Post on Thursday published a bombshell report detailing allegations by a woman who claims Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 14, the Steve Bannon-directed outlet Breitbart News ran a story that spotlighted Moore’s denials of the claims against him and attempted to “undermine the Post‘s credibility.”

“The story detailed some of the allegations, but with a distinct twist,” notes Business Insider‘s Maxwell Tani. “Breitbart included five paragraphs of denials from Moore, which were placed above many of the details of the allegations.”

Headlined “After Endorsing Democrat in Alabama, Bezos’s Washington Post Plans to Hit Roy Moore with Allegations of Inappropriate Relations with Teenagers; Judge Claims Smear Campaign,” Breitbart‘s piece more closely resembles a “press release” for Moore than a news story, argued the Washington Post‘s Aaron Blake.

That should not be a surprise after all he, Bannon, is defending Trump even after the “Access Hollywood” tape was made public……the one where Trump talks about grabbing women by their hoo-hoo and all…..

Time for Moore to just ride off into the sunset on his high horse and disappear from the American collective memory……we have enough perverts in Washington….we do not need another.

Live from the holodeck!

I am not a techno geek but for some reason I keep finding all these technology stories that I feel the urge to share with my readers.  Hopefully this will entertain my regular readers…..and generate comments from those among you who have a handle on this technology thing.

Remember all those Star Trek shows and the elaborate scenarios that were played out on their holodecks?

I bring this up because of something I recently read…..

On February 5, political activist Hugo Poidevin attended a rally in Paris to listen to a speech by the French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon, a leftist politician with a penchant for cutting edge technology.

But Melenchon was not actually at the Paris rally – at least not in the flesh. He was delivering a speech in Lyon, nearly 400km away.

Poidevin, along with thousands of others, gathered in the French capital, facing an empty stage, in anticipation of what would be a first in French politics.

“Resistance!” the crowd in Lyon chanted, as Melenchon began to speak there.

“Where am I? In Lyon?” Melenchon said, rousing the Lyon audience. He snapped his fingers. “And now, in Paris.”

Is this the future?

It could help all those American politicians that are running like scared rabbits from their townhalls….they could do their thing without having to actually face the people.

Make America Good Again

Joy! Joy!  Yesterday was my doctor day and I am happy to report that I am here for at least another 2 months….some may dread my return and others rejoice….whichever is yours I want to thank you guys for all the time you spend with me here on IST…….

Let’s get busy!

How many times have you heard this from the conservs on the web?

They talk a mean game but not one of them has any idea how to do that …..without using military force.

It is a great slogan….and Trump-ster is using it as his campaign motto…..but so far the person using it has not giving one idea of how he will accomplish his promise.

I mean the net is crawling with people that write about what went wrong….usually it is all Obama’s fault….like so many other problems in this country…..but again they cannot point to the issues of Obama’s that has dragged the country down……other than “he is weak”…..and that is about as helpful as saying “the sky is blue”…..

Sad that you judge the greatness of a country by its ability to kill……its ability to wage war……if anyone had ever tasted war first hand then they would tell you that there is NOTHING great about it.

Democrat: Leather And Lace

Another Democrat bites the dust!

Remember a couple of years ago when the media and the rest of us were having fun at the expense of Anthony Weiner…..Weirner’s weenie-gate?

It seems the young lady that Anthony was texting and sexting…..the young lady that brought down a vocal opponent in the Congress…..she has struck again……

A porn star who’s no stranger to political scandals has been thrown back in the spotlight, this time for sexting with an Indiana state lawmaker. Sydney Leathers, who made headlines in the Anthony Weiner sexting brouhaha, tells Fox News she exchanged sexually explicit picture and text messages with Rep. Justin Moed, a Democrat who went by the pseudonym “Bitch Boy.” Leathers told Page Six last week that a politician replied to her ad seeking someone she could “financially dominate” but didn’t share his true identity. However, his name was accidentally included in packages of shoes and lingerie he sent to her, Leathers says. “I Googled him and found out he’s a lawmaker.” She now confirms the politician is Moed, who’s engaged.

“I am truly sorry I have hurt the ones I love most with my poor judgment. I am committed to rebuilding trust with my family and my community,” Moed says in a statement, per the Indianapolis Star. “I apologize to my constituents and to everyone I have let down.” Moed, who was planning to be wed in September, also sent Leathers money through PayPal and a “Fetish Fantasy Series Pink Leash & Collar,” according to photos obtained by TheDirty.com. Others show a man’s naked behind. Leathers says she never met Moed but his messages showed he was “into some really freaky stuff.” In one message, Moed reportedly said, “I am your property to do with as you wish.” Leathers says Moed was “displaying poor judgment by sexting me of all people,” but politicians “are human, after all.”

Yet another Democrat caught with his pants down…….(Ironic, yes?)………Now with her latest victim taking it in the butt…….maybe it is time to ask the question………who’s payroll is she on?

Seems she may be targeting Democrats……if so that would make her a valuable asset for some of the more extreme PACs…..or possibly the more extreme media outlets also……I mean those institutions are NOT above sleazy tactics to make their point….and this skank seems to rank right up there.

The Disease of American Democracy | Perspectives | BillMoyers.com

About 14 days before we Americans go to the polls to make the wrong decision….something we excel at doing………

I have pissed and moan about just how unimportant the American voter really is…..that special interests are the key to moving legislation…..the voter is only important during campaigns and after they are a minor inconvenience that must be tolerated….in short, the people are of NO use to an elected politician…..

Have you noticed that the MSM has all but refused to point out problems in our system?  They feel compelled to analyze it until it makes most of us nauseated….but seldom a word that is negative…..why is that?

An excellent piece with some provocative thoughts……..

Read and sound off!

Will The Cowardice Ever End?

I have been bitching about the gutless, worthless Congress for years now…..these lazy do-nothings have work little in this past year…..they spend most of their time on their knees with donors (take that any way you choose…..both are equally valid)…….you would think these people would care what the people think….oh wait!  That is a joke in itself……..why can’t these people just do some work like the past Congresses………

When you crunch the numbers, Congress looks pretty lazy. The Washington Post finds that both chambers have been in session only about 40% of the time since 1978—the first year for which online records are available—and they’ve both worked full weeks simultaneously a measly 14% of the time. Taken individually, the Senate has spent 42% of the past 37 years in session, while the House has been in session 39% of the time.

That period covers 1,917 weeks, 601 of which the Senate worked Monday through Friday. As for the House? Just 362 weeks. This year so far, both chambers have been in session all week together … four times. They tend to avoid working on Fridays, Philip Bump notes. Meanwhile, the longest period both chambers remained in session was 13 days, while the longest time neither chamber worked was “several months,” Bump writes. But he does point out that just because Congresspeople aren’t meeting on the floor doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not working. See the graphs and check individual dates here.

Crap!  My bad!  These twats have worked little in the last 37 years……..could explain why this country is sliding down the drain, well the Middle Class that is…..it is disappearing and we can in part thank the Congress…….and yet we will re-elect a good portion of these thieves.

This is one of th4e reason that I stopped being an analyst of American politics…….it is boring…..it is shameful……it is pathetic.  There is not one person in Congress that is worth listening to for any reason…….most of them have voices that just irritate me……..they are just not worthy of me to spend much time analyzing their actions and words……gutless needs no explanation.

How bad does the country have to get before we wake up and retire these gutless individuals?

If Only In America!

By now everybody with a half brain knows that our Congress is about as worthless as tits on a boar.  Their approval rating is damn near zero and in some circles it is zero……and with that bad news for them….they change nothing….they keep playing the same game they have been playing for over 5 years….my opinion and yours means NOTHING to them.

The only way we can change this is by voting them out of office and guess what….we are not capable of doing that!  We have had numerous elections for the voter to change things and we just cannot bring ourselves to do that one simple task….replace the spineless Congress and try to start over…..it is beyond SAD!

The news of the day is that France president Hollande has basically thrown the present government out of office……..ahhhhh now there is a choice we could use….

France’s Prime Minister Manuel Valls presented the resignation of his government to the president on Monday, Francois Hollande’s office said in a statement.

The statement said a new government would be formed on Tuesday in line with the “direction he (the president) has defined for our country.”

Valls’ resignation gives him Hollande,  the power to set up a new cabinet.

Now there is an idea whose time has come in America.  There is something to be said for the parliamentary style of governance.

Since the voter cannot work up enough courage to do the right thing….then take it out of their hands….dissolve Congress and tell the voter to try again……I know it sounds a bit harsh but something has got to give for this country to move forward….if not we will be stuck in this cycle of stupid.

America can NO longer wait for the perfect statesman….we need action and we need it NOW!
