The Games Politicians Play

I have been trying to point out as much of the pure manure that the politicians are spreading…..I do so with the hope that both sides will read it and start asking questions on why they are still in power……why they are so damn partisan…..and why they are ALL hypocrites…..

We all have heard the bitching by the Repubs and some Dems that the stim was a waste of time and money….that it has accomplished very little with the exception of driving up the deficit…..you know…the usual BS….

Thinkprogress.org has a great report:

ThinkProgress has investigated opponents of the Recovery Act, reporting throughout the year that many of the lawmakers who tried to kill the legislation have been returning to their home states to claim credit for popular stimulus programs. In a new research report, ThinkProgress finds that over half of the GOP caucus, 110 lawmakers — from the House and Senate — are guilty of stimulus hypocrisy. Among some of the key findings:

Top Republican Senate Recruits Are Stimulus Hypocrites: As ThinkProgress reported, Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE), a candidate for Senate, touted over $5 million in stimulus programs he voted to kill. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), the GOP nominee for Senate in Illinois, signed a letter urging Gov. Pat Quinn to provide “Recovery Act (ARRA) funding to expand the Illinois Community College Sustainability Network.”

GOP Leadership Leads The Way In Hypocrisy: Although he regularly slams the stimulus as a waste while in DC, McConnell has returned to Kentucky to take credit for stimulus programs, even taking time to request more funds. ThinkProgress attended two job fairs held by Cantor, where we found dozens of employers able to hire directly because of the stimulus. Indeed, even Boehner’s office released a statement boasting that the stimulus will create “much needed jobs.”

The Audacity Of Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds: Many opponents of the stimulus have been quite brazen with their ability to try to claim credit for the program. For instance, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) spent the morning of July 28th railing against the stimulus, yelling “Where’s the stimulus package? Where’s the jobs?” on the House floor. On the same day of his rant, Kingston’s office sent out multiple press releases bragging that he had secured hundreds of thousands in stimulus funds to hire additional police officers in his district. Other stimulus opponents, like Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) — who has called the stimulus a “trillion dollar debt bill” — have printed out jumbo-sized ceremonial stimulus checks to present to local communities to try to garner positive press.

Individually, over half of the entire Republican caucus has hailed nearly every aspect of the stimulus as a success — from infrastructure funds, to food programs, to education grants. But politically, admitting its success might harm the GOP’s chances in November. So with Republicans fixated on winning politically, they have focused on deceiving the public by calling the stimulus a failure, while pretending successful programs aren’t stimulus funded.

Some of us bloggers have been yelling about the hypocrisy in the Congress and now we can see that we were right….too bad others will not see them for what they are….HYPOCRITES!

I wish I could say that was all the silliness that there is to report…but that would be an outright lie….Yes, Irene there is more stupidity!

Stealing a page from President Obama’s transparency book, House Republicans on Wednesday asked Democratic leaders to hold an on-camera meeting with them on the economy and how to create jobs.

“Despite our differences, we believe that it is imperative for us to begin discussions and work together toward a shared goal of putting Americans back to work,” the House’s top two Republicans wrote in a letter to the House’s top two Democrats.

House Republicans want another chance to air their opinions and policy suggestions on public television with their Democratic counterparts.

Does anyone else see the stupidity of this statement and proposal?…..(insert long pause for reflection here)…….waiting….waiting….oh crap that is enough time…..

I believe that the two house of Congress are there for debate and CSPAN is there for transparency……this is just yet another BS move to look like they are being froze out of the process……it is BULLSH*T!…..plain and simple……the crap they want is already at their disposal and they will NOT use it…….

Someone once said, “stupid is as stupid does”….pretty much says it all…..for those that are saying the stupid crap and those that believe the stupid crap……

Boehner Pulls A Boner

Daily Agitator

First, I do not know why but every time I use the word Boehner…the word Boner comes to mind……

And then there are reports or stories that make one shake their head and ask why……

In the recent past I have heard the name John Boehner being batted around as a possible speaker of the House if the GOP ever returns to power…he does get lots of face time on TV especially on FOX News, after all he is the minority leader and should be the spokesperson for the Party in the House.

Yesterday there was a “spontaneous” rally in Washington against the Health Reform Bill that is being considered…..there were the usual suspects….references to socialism, nazis, and just plain hate for the president and Pelosi……I watched some of it on TV and thought it was a “white power” protests….the GOP really needs to find someone with a different color face to be in the crowd.

I have written many times on these “spontaneous” out pouring of hate, but today I want to talk about the leader of the GOP in the House……John Boehner got up in front of the 4000 or so protesters to egg them on….he had the usual babble and then he pulled out a copy of the Constitution and said “this is my copy of the Constitution and I will read from it” (paraphrase)….

We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness…….

(I will give a long pause here for contemplation)……..I realize that to be a member of a certain party you need an IQ check but this is moronic…..Boehner was holding the Constitution and reading the Declaration of Independence….you would have thought one of his fellow GOPers would have told him he was screwing up…..they did not….maybe they do not know the difference either….ever think of that?

These are the LEADERS of American governance and they do NOT even know the difference between the two documents….this whole things reminds me of something Plato said:

The penalty good men pay for not being interested in politics is to be governed by men worse than themselves.

The part that should scare the people is…. these are the people that are defending the Constitution….they say so in their oath of office….and yet they have NO IDEA what it actually says….. Do they still teach Civics in school?……

If HE, Boehner,  is the future of the GOP….then members should worry or at least run for the nearest exit….

Whose Idea Was It?

For over a week now there has been a war of words between FOX News and the White House…..which moron thought this would be a good idea?

Of all the issues that need addressing by the White House….they spend their time swatting at a fly, in this case it is FOX News.  The AP has touched on this situation:

White House unhappiness had been building. The president himself said there is “one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration.” Fox’s coverage of health care demonstrations over the summer, former administration official Van Jones and the community activists ACORN clearly knocked the administration off stride.

The White House blog attacked Fox commentator Glenn Beck for “lies.”

Several critics have questioned the wisdom of Obama’s approach.

“Whether or not you like Fox News, all of us in the press need to be concerned about the administration of President Barack Obama trying to `punish’ the cable news channel for its point of view,” wrote television critic David Zurawik in the Baltimore Sun.

The people voted for a man of vision and wisdom….but the kids play that they are doing now….shows neither wisdom nor vision……people voted for change, but somehow this is not what they thought change would look like.

I realize politicians think their sh!t does not stink, but petty name calling and childish little games is not what they should be involved in at this time or for that matter any time.  But come on dudes…you are giving their accusations and lies credence when you attack them outright…..do to FOX what you guys do to the people and their wants..IGNORE THEM!

“The Wicker Report”

Gulf South Free Press Editorial

Hey Mississippi….have you read your latest edition of the Wicker Report?  You know that little printed thing you get now and then from your Senator,  Roger Wicker?  And yes, I live in the state….ah go ahead make the jokes…most of them are sickeningly accurate anyway.

Well I have and found a couple of things that I want clarified.  So I have written him for that clarification…..and I wait…….

He had his report on health care reform…his first statement was that the “Focus on prevention, wellness and early detection”….all pretty good things but since the Repubs, and that includes Wicker are so concerned with tort reform and point to the doctors that are focusing on unnecessary test to cover their butts from lawsuit….would not his first statement be just a continuation of the very thing they want to eliminate?

Next in his section entitled, “What Wicker stands for” he states:

“Making health care more affordable for everyone”…..firast does this include those that are presently uninsured?  If so, how does HE and his Senate cohorts going to do this?  Second,  many employers that were recently polled and said that they expect increases in the cost of health care in the coming years if nothing is done.  So where is the affordability that Wicker wants?

His next point that he stands for, is “Allowing every American to purchase plans that Senators, Representatives and other federal employees have”….well that is cool…but is not that plan a government run health plan?  If so, I thought that the Repubs, of which Wicker is one, is against this sort of thing?

Finally, Wicker moved on to the things that he opposes about health care reform:

Wicker is against increasing the cost of health care….we have already covered this……all concerned have said it WILL go up with there is not reform.  So Sen. Wicker, what is your idea for holding it down?

He is against “limiting the treatment options available to patients”….what a great idea…but what about all the reports that say insurance companies are doing just that and that they are getting away with it?  If there is no health bill, how will Wicker and his band of merrymen do to control this?

Wicker neglected to mention that a national survey of doctors shows that about 73% say that the country needs some sort of public option or that a national poll showed that 63% of the people favor a public option….so my question is, where are all these people that the GOP says is against the option as a solution?

Plus he quotes stuff from the Lewin Group on Health care….but he fails to mention that the group is funded and operated by the insurance industry.  Personally, if you want me to side with you…then give me all the facts and I will make up my own mind.  I do not appreciate cherry picking facts just to make your position….you were elected to represent the people not your political ideology.

It is a good idea to inform the public back home, but if you do not tell the whole truth and only one small sliver of information….then you are not telling the truth and are doing nothing to help the people understand a complex issue.

Mississippians, you voted for this man….should you not be getting the whole truth on any issue from him?

Those Darn Pesky “Death Panels”

Holy crap!  It is now official…Death Panels have been eliminated from the Senate’s bill.  In a statement about the “panels”:

We never had “death panels” in the plan. Those, such as Sarah Palin, who say we did are liars trying to derail our compassionate plan to get health insurance for all Americans. This is all part of a right wing conspiracy to deny health insurance to the poor. It’s all a lie! There are no death panels! But we just took a vote to eliminate them from the plan.

Okay I am looking at the quote……I believe I would have pick a better way of stating whatever it is he is stating.  To me how can you eliminate something that you say was not there?  Or are they making sure that no such language is ever in the bill?  That quote can be used both ways and will be taken out of context…I can almost bet on that.

The wording will give credence to the idea that there were “death panels” in the original bill…If you would like to check it out….it is HR 3200 pages 425-430, that way one does not have to read the whole 1100+ page bill….just trying to help…..

It is amazing what will be said to lather up the base……lies have always worked better than the truth…..why?…..few people believe the truth.

2009 Anal-Ocity

It has been a good year for anal statements and as we near the end of the year they seem to get more moronic.

I was wondering when she would pop off again, oh my bad…..Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota….

I was also wondering when someone would try and connect health reform to the Constitution….my wait is over…..

It is not within our power as members of Congress, it’s not within the enumerated powers of the Constitution, for us to design and create a national takeover of health care. Nor is it within our ability to be able to delegate that responsibility to the executive.

Ms. Bachmann made this statement on Hannity’s show on FOX News.

Thinkprogress.org points out her mistake:

Had Bachmann bothered to read Article I of the Constitution before going on Fox, she would have learned that Congress has the power to “lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises” and to “provide for….the general welfare of the United States.”  Rather than itemizing specific subject matters, such as health care, which Congress is allowed to spend money on, the framers chose instead to give Congress a broad mandate to spend money in ways that promote the “general welfare.

As usual conservatives will NOT let the facts or the truth get in the way of their opposition to this president.

2009 Anal-Ocity

There are some statements that have a ring of truth in them and then there are those statements made by nut cases that have been elected by a well informed electorate (sarcasm).  The newest anal statement comes from an Oklahoma state representative, Sally Kerns,  who has presented an ” Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation of Morality” which states:

we believe our economic woes are consequences of our greater national moral crisis; and WHEREAS, this nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery;

If you think about it I guess you could make a case for the economic woes being related to religion in a way.  But her assumption is just ridiculous.  Now if she would have used words like GREED or AVARICE, or ENVY,  then I might have agreed with her, but sorry my sexual decisions have NOTHING to do with the economic crisis we are facing.

SHE IS A MORON!
