Will It Come To Independents?

Bummer!  USA loses to Japan 3-1 in PKs!

We hear all the crap fed to us by the media….you pick the media, none of them offer a real analysis….they are telling us that the independents will make all the difference in the 2012 election….will Obama convert them or will it be the GOP nominee?

Alan Abramowitz dispels the idea that independent voters are the largest segment of the American electorate and will decide the 2012 election.

“Research by political scientists on the American electorate has consistently found that the large majority of self-identified independents are ‘closet partisans’ who think and vote much like other partisans. Independent Democrats and independent Republicans have little in common. Moreover, independents with no party preference have a lower rate of turnout than those who lean toward a party and typically make up less than 10% of the electorate. Finally, independents don’t necessarily determine the outcomes of presidential elections; in fact, in all three closely contested presidential elections since 1972, the candidate backed by most independent voters lost.”

I have been calling this BS for the last 10 years and it is good to see that people are starting to see what a pile of manure that is being fed to the public……media analyst use it because they cannot explain what is happening in the electorate and it is easier to make up something than to do the research…..

The independents are the biggest myth that has been perpetrated on the public by the media in the last couple of decades…….we are political animals and few of us are truly independent…..

Say It Ain’t So!

Please overlook the use of the word “ain’t”….all I can say is that I had a momentary brain fat!

I came across some news that should make a liberal smile and the radical right quote the title of this post…(it is nice to be quoted)……I found the good news while reading Alternet website……(it brought a smile to my face and before coffee)…..

Since October, Rush Limbaugh’s ratings have fallen by 33 percent and Sean Hannity’s by 28 percent, while Glenn Beck’s been dropped in several markets. Could this be indicative of a larger trend? This week Salon wonderedif their decline foretells a death whimper for the age of the extreme right talk show host.If true, this would also coincide with the public’s increasing disdain for the GOP’s economic policies, wrought by Paul Ryan’s unsustainable budget plan and last night’s unanimous vote to kill Medicare despite the wishes of their constituents. And while the extreme right pundits still enjoy a healthy amount of media coverage thanks to their willingness to drop outrageously racist, sexist, classist quoteables, it’s all countered by a recent surge of citizens getting behind boycotts, which helped result in Beck’s ouster from markets in New York, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. So, is there hope for an end to the windbag era? We can only hope. Read the full Salon piece here.

Is the sheep that listen to talk radio becoming more savvy of the political situation in this country?  Or is it just their listen, all of them over 60 years of age, like their Medicare, even though I do not like the idea of a single payer system?

And They Say There Is NO God!

For centuries people have been debating the existence of God or whatever your name is for some unseen omnipotent being that has some sort of control over the happenings on this tiny little f*cked up planet…..everyone has an opinion (I guess they are kinda like a/holes)….but finally there is PROOF!  So now we can put the whole thing to bed…..(that was humor in case anyone missed it)

Fox News host Glenn Beck may be in denial about his ratings decline, but the Nielsen numbers don’t lie: He’s lost one-third of his audience from this time last year, and has lost nearly four out of ten of his viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, the demographic advertisers most covet.

See!  There is a GOD!

The ratings sag seems to be spreading to Beck’s radio empire as well, where he suddenly finds himself off in key markets such as New York and Philadelphia. Beck’s daytime show was also recently yanked from four radio stations in Connecticut because the program’s increasingly inconsistent content had hurt ratings, according to the executive who pulled Beck off his stations.

It is good to see that I may have been a bit mistaken about the American people and their propensity to believe bullsh*t……maybe now we can get back to real issues and problems and solutions….I can only hope….but then I remember something Ben Franklin once said…..”He that lives upon hope will die fasting.”

UpDate:  While I held this post in my drafts more breaking news has come out about Beck and FOX…..

Fox News and Glenn Beck announced Wednesday that Beck will “transition off of his daily program” later this year.

Beck’s production company, Mercury Radio Arts, will instead work with Fox News to produce programs for the channel.

Yes…He Is An Idiot!

Did you know that if you believe in the “American Dream”, then you are a COMMIE!….I will give you a minute to absorb that…..why in God’s name would I make such an accusation?

It is NOT me that says such a moronic thing…but rather the darling of the radical right….one Glenn Beck, conspiracist extraordinaire…….he  made this assertion recently……on his cable show on FOX…..

So, think about what the American dream is. Got it? Unless you have read this book [Epic of America], you most likely don’t know what it is. This is a progressive book. This was written by a Woodrow Wilson progressive who was, oh, he was great. He was an advisor. Big progressive. The American dream, you think everybody gets a fair shake. Right? Yeah, no, no.

This is the actual definition of the American dream because it was a progressive that coined the term in this book. It’s that everybody gets a house and a car and a chicken in every pot. It’s that, well, you know, c’mon, a fair shake isn’t enough. It’s state capitalism.

On February 24, Glenn Beck said “most likely you don’t know what the American dream is,” that it is actually a progressive invention of the 1930s, and that it is currently being used by communists, unions, and other assorted bogeymen to cloak their radical intentions behind a term that is “warm and cuddly like bunny rabbits.”

See?  According to Beck if you believe in the American Dream then you are either a socialist or communist or some radical Leftist……you listen to his made up crap about Obama and his policies and nopw YOU are a commie because you believe that there is an “American Dream”….and you continue to listen…..

Now, will some one on the Right or a conservative please explain to me why NO one wants to call this moron out for is deliberate fear mongering and the out right lies?  Why is he allowed to continue to spread hate and discontent?  He has a right to speak his mind….but he does not have the right to make up facts to influence the mentally challenged…..

GOP’s Tuscon Point Man

Since the horrible situation in Arizona, the shooting of all those people, the GOP has been on a relentless trip to vindicate all the hate speech that has been leveled at Obama and the Dems in the past couple of years….terms like armed and dangerous, use your 2nd amendment right, need to reload, and all the gun violence symbolism……they are trying desperately to shirk their responsibility for these illustrations that they used to win elections and inflame the base……

Now the GOP has as point man for all the criticism, Gov. Pawlenty of Minnesota, he has taken to the airways and given the same interview no less than 8 times…the same talking points with very little variations….here are some of his talking points….

“There’s a term for that in politics. They say, “Go out and give them the red meat.” And so, it’s…think of that imagery of dangling raw meat in front of, you know, the predator. But all of us, in the case of the politicians, I don’t think we want to get to a point where we’re deterring or chilling free speech or passion or enthusiasm or the kinds of things that fuel grassroots politics…

Basically, what he is saying, at least in my mind, all the rhetoric of anger and hate is just isolated occurrences…..but words of hate and anger DO have consequences…..as I keep saying….it is NOT the intent of the speaker but rather the perception of the listener…….

Maybe instead to spending all one’s time trying slough off the responsibility they should turn now to sanity and rationality…just like yelling “fire” in a crowded room is NOT free speech,  maybe it is time to look at the lunatic talk that goes on and ask that a toning down of hate would be prudent…..

Yes, we cannot blame anyone but the person that commits the violence…..but on the other hand, he got the idea from somewhere!

2011 Anal-Ocity #1

A new year and a new batch of anal statements coming from people that should know better…..the first one is actually something said back in December of 2010 but the nominees were already being voted on and so we decided to make it the first one of the New year…..

This one is from an opinion writer for the Washington Times, Robert Knight…….he was writing on the possibility of the repeal of DADT……

Mr. Gates himself hinted at the answer: Training (i.e. brainwashing) could begin earlier. Think about that. Troops drawn from America’s heartland will be “trained” to appreciate sodomy – or else. Wonder if they’ll break out those little Maoist dunce caps while they’re at it?

Of course, this is NOT anywhere near the truth or in any way accurate……but when has one of these looney morons from the Right ever let truth and accuracy get in their way?

We have heard the darling of the Teabaggers use the term over and over…..but now she may have something there…..I have seen reputable media outlets say and print some really ridiculous stories…..but so far the most lame is this one from the Washington times:

Sometimes just the threat of a wacko liberal ruling is enough to drive policy. That seems to be the reasoning behind Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates warning Congress to homosexualize the military before the courts do it. He said it would be disruptive if a court acts, so Congress should order up the lavender tanks instead.

I don’t recall a single reporter asking Mr. Gates why, if ending the policy by court order would harm the military, it would be less disruptive if done by the lame-duck Congress. Mr. Gates himself hinted at the answer: Training (i.e. brainwashing) could begin earlier. “Green Is Universal”……..a catchy little phrase from NBC/Universal when they want to appear to be trying to solve our energy problem…..it appears once or twice a year….like any other of the major failures the US has and they want to talk about it……

Is that not the most putrid piece of garbage you have ever heard?

Let the conversation begin……here is a news flash for you guys……NO ONE is listening…NO policy maker gives a sh*t…..we have been having this “conversation” for 30+ years…..now what has that accomplished?  I know!  I know (he said raising his hand)………cars have been made more efficient by 3-5 mpg!

Now there is something your can tell your grand kids about…..

PAY ATTENTION!   NO ONE IS LISTENING!  Money talks and bullsh*t walks!  Talk is cheap! Do you now get the idea!  Can you grasp the concept of reality?

You can talk about every solution you can think of….but until we are willing to act on this then shut the Hell UP!  Cowards one and all…..they willing to talk but not to act……30 years of talking and you still sound like cheating husband trying to figure out what to say……you guys are pathetic!

There are times when the obvious does needed to be stated and this is one of those times….for years “Lefties” have been bitching about the political shenanigans of FOX News and now the WSJ has validated that concern….

A November 9 Wall Street Journalarticle sheds more light on the ongoing ethics problem involving Fox News personalities, who have relentlessly endorsed, raised money, or campaigned for Republican candidates or organizations.

The Journal reports that Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity — along with Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin — “are being paid to use their voices and faces to promote politically motivated groups.” The Journal also reported Fox News’ response to Beck’s actions:

“Because Glenn Beck’s Mercury Radio Arts agreement predates his agreement with Fox News, Glenn has certain radio obligations with which he needs to comply,” said Dianne Brandi, Fox News executive vice president for legal and business affairs.

Mr. Beck, whose radio program averages 10 million weekly listeners, has given paid endorsements on the show since May for FreedomWorks, a Washington, D.C.-based libertarian advocacy group that worked closely with tea party groups to support dozens of conservative candidates in last Tuesday’s election. As part of what are called “live-read” advertisements, Mr. Beck has urged listeners to join FreedomWorks–a group he also had expressed support for prior to the commercial advertising arrangement.

What to do…what to do?  Does anyone really think that they, FOX News, really are “fair and balanced”?  I just cannot believe my eyes!  (BTW, that is sarcasm)  Truthfully, I am waiting for the “witch” O’Donnell to get a gig at FOX……I mean every whacky out there has a voice there…Bachmann, et al…….so she needs to be offered a gig….you know they are whacky when Palin and Huckabee are the only sane voices on air…..

Recently myself and a couple of my readers had a conversation on the effect of the media on political stories……how the media is being used to further an agenda and helped to create this toxic atmosphere in politics.

Mind control?  Did someone say mind control?  Of all the words used by political philosophers, hegemony is one of my favorites….why?…it is an ugly little word that means the domination of one element of a system over others, that is the simple little definition…basically if looked at logically and rationally…it is MIND CONTROL!

Through the various eras in American history there have been a few hegemonic controls….the community and the workplace and the idea of patriotism and finally we come to the modern era, as I call it, the present and the control that the media has over the people’s thought process.

In the past, the not so distant past, if you control the media then you control the society…it was used as a propaganda tool….and not much has changed in the years.  Basically, it was first proposed by Antonio Gramsci back in the 20’s and 30’s…his thoughts on it were that the dominant class used its resources to mold the beliefs and opinions of the subordinate class.  And that boys and girls is the definition of HEGEMONY.

He was accurate…look at today’s society…..the media has helped manufacturer false needs that have turned the people into addicted consumers and the media has succeeded in neutralizing criticism by making it appear that there is free debate and argument….which in turn hides the indoctrination and control that they exert over the people.

Pick a subject….Any subject……now look beneath the ‘story line’….is there an indoctrination taking place?  How about from CNBC?  Or for that matter, FOX News?  The way that the American people talk and act…I am beginning to doubt that there is free will….and as scary as it seems…..NO RATIONAL THOUGHT!

Think I wrong, do you?  Think about the media and their reporting on the economy….the markets are up and everyone sees a recovery slowly approaching…..then ask your neighbor just how life is for him…bet it does not sound as rosy as the media paints……okay then think about the federal budget debt……everything we hear from the media is how there will be cuts in entitlements and such…..does it sound like they are preparing you for the inevitable?

So if you buy into the hegemonic thing….then the media is the absolute best place for the ruling class to use its influence to mold the public to their coming fate.  In essence, the dumbing down of the people to fit the agenda.  For instance, the Tea Party, a populist movement, at least that is what they would have us believe, but thanks to the media it is a movement fueled by opinion not knowledge…the media is setting the stage for the political agenda of the movement….a hegemonic control…..
