Iran: What’s Next?

Just two days into the attack on Iran the reports are the leader has been killed as well as 3 American and 5 others seriously injured.

The justification for this attack was of course the nuclear thing, but I thought we destroyed that capability last year’s attack and the trusty BS to help the Iranian people to live free.

So what on?

According to Donald Trump, Iranians have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “The hour of your freedom is at hand,” he declared, as U.S. and Israeli warplanes pounded Iranian cities and the compound of the country’s supreme leader. “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will probably be your only chance for generations.”

Trump’s comments made clear that America is seeking regime change. After decades of high tensions, tough recriminations and one-off attacks, Washington finally decided to try getting rid of the country’s government altogether — and it thinks ordinary Iranians will rise up and finish the job.

The country’s population, after all, is clearly fed up with the Islamic Republic. Over the last decade, Iranians have repeatedly staged mass demonstrations against the regime. Those protests typically only go away after the government responds with horrific force. In December and January, for example, hundreds of thousands of Iranians spent weeks demonstrating — until Iranian security officials shot and killed thousands of them. But now, American and Israeli warplanes are attacking Iran’s military and security apparatus and destroying other government institutions. They have killed the country’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and many other top officials. The Trump administration seems to be betting that the Iranian people will soon take over the regime change process, resume protesting and successfully remove a greatly weakened government.

To gauge how likely that response might be, I spoke to political scientists and Iranian experts, all of whom would love to see “people power” usher in new leadership in Tehran. But they also expressed deep skepticism that even this massive air campaign could produce a successful uprising.

For starters, they told me, aerial bombing campaigns have a terrible record at fomenting regime change in any state. Second, Iran has powerful repressive organs with a lot of experience in putting down popular unrest. In addition, Iran’s bureaucracy has been expecting — and preparing for — American attacks for generations. And even if Washington does successfully fracture or defang the Islamic Republic, exhausted and shocked Iranians may be too frightened or focused on survival to flood the streets. The country’s political opposition remains weak, and it is famously fragmented.

Let’s be clear the US has never been a champion of democracy in Iran….it has always been about the oil….PERIOD!

It is too early to judge what will happen next…..for the airstrikes are still a threat and people will try not to wind up like the Palestinians.

Donny has made it clear that he wants more sacrifice from our troops….

Three US service members were killed in action during the joint attack on Iran, the Defense Department said Sunday, the first American casualties of the operation that began Saturday. “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends,” President Trump said Sunday afternoon in a video message, per the New York Times. “That’s the way it is.” Five others were seriously wounded, the Washington Post reports. US Central Command posted on X that several troops “sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are in the process of being returned to duty.” The military did not release the names of those killed or any details but added that their identities will be released 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

In the six-minute video, per the AP, Trump called the three service members killed “true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives.” He also said that “until all of our objectives are achieved,” combat operations will continue “in full force.” He did not specify what the objectives are. More than 200 have been reported killed in Iran since the US and Israel struck by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, per Axios. Iran was firing ballistic missiles and drones Sunday against American bases and targets in the Middle East. “Our response effort is ongoing,” the US statement said, per CBS News. “My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to US personnel in the region,” Trump had said Saturday.

I will be watching the events unfold.

“Peace President” Is At It Again

After some time of breast pounding the Idiot in the White House has started another war…..this time it is with our old nemesis Iran.

The US and Israel launched an attack Saturday on Iran, with the first apparent strike happening near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian media reported strikes nationwide, and smoke could be seen rising from the capital. President Trump said in a video posted on social media that the US had begun “major combat operations in Iran,” the AP reports. He said Iran has continued to develop its nuclear program and plans to develop missiles to reach the US.

  • Trump said the US had launched a “massive” operation to “prevent this very wicked radical dictatorship from threatening America,” per the BBC. He acknowledged that there could be American casualties, saying “that often happens in war.”
  • “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people,” Trump said. “Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world.”
  • Trump appealed to the Iranian people to “take over your government—it will be yours to take.” “This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he said. “For many years, you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it. No president was willing to do what I am willing to do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let’s see how you respond.”
  • The New York Times reports that US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, say the campaign could last for several days and it will be far more extensive than the strikes that targeted nuclear facilities last year. The sources say dozens of US strikes are being carried out from bases around the Middle East and at least one aircraft carrier.
  • It wasn’t immediately clear whether the 86-year-old Khamenei was in his offices at the time of the strike, the AP reports. He hasn’t been seen publicly in days as tensions with the US have grown. The US has assembled a vast fleet of fighter jets and warships in the region.
  • An Israeli official tells Reuters that the joint operation had been planned for months and the date of the attack was decided weeks ago. In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for his “historic leadership” and said Israelis will need “endurance and fortitude” in the days ahead, with Iranian counterattacks expected, the BBC reports. “This murderous terrorist regime must not be armed with nuclear weapons that would allow it to threaten all of humanity,” Netanyahu said. Like Trump, he called for regime change, saying, “Our joint action will create the conditions for the courageous Iranian people to take their destiny into their own hands.”

How will this end?

The son of the Shah should be slobbering all over himself for he may get to be boss and make the Iranian people pay for what they did to his father.

Now there is Cuba…..should they be thinking ahead to a possible US strike and conflict?

The “Peace President” Is At It Again

Our self0identified ‘peace president’ has started more conflicts than he has hair on his head and now he is thumping his chest like some sex crazed primate to do it again with Iran.

The Trump administration is close to launching a major attack on Iran as it continues a massive buildup of military forces in the Middle East, according to a report from Axios reporter Barak Ravid.

Sources told Ravid that the potential US attack on Iran would likely be a massive multi-week operation, much bigger than the US operation to abduct Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. They said it would also be much broader in scope than the 12-day US-Israeli war on Iran that was launched in June 2025. Reuters also recently reported that the US was preparing for a sustained, multi-week attack on Iran.

Israeli officials said that the Israeli government, which is pushing for the US to pursue regime change in Iran, is preparing for the possibility of the attack starting in the coming days, and CNN later reported that the US military is ready to start the war as soon as this weekend. Other sources put the timeline a little later, saying the war would likely start in a few weeks.

“The boss is getting fed up,” a Trump adviser told Ravid. “Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks.”

The Axios report noted that there has been little public debate about the potential war amid the major US military buildup and said that Americans will likely be surprised by the scale of the coming attack.

All signs indicate that if the US bombs Iran, Tehran will not hold back in its response and could target multiple US bases and warships in the region, leaving open the possibility that the war could result in hundreds or thousands of US casualties. The conflict could also have a major impact on the global economy, as Iran could close the Strait of Hormuz, through which 31% of seaborne crude oil shipments passed in 2025.

The US and Iran held talks on Tuesday, and while the Iranian side said there was a “clear path” toward a deal, US Vice President JD Vance said that Iran was not acknowledging President Trump’s “red lines.”

Vance claimed the main US demand was that Iran must not pursue a nuclear weapon, but for many months, the administration had insisted the June 2025 US strikes on Iran “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear facilities, and there’s no sign Tehran can enrich uranium at the moment. Iran has also made clear it’s willing to enter a deal that would involve a commitment to low enrichment levels, and Iranian officials maintain they don’t seek a nuclear bomb.

The real goal of any US attack on Iran will likely be regime change or taking out Iran’s ability to fire missiles at Israel. President Trump said back in December, when he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Mar-a-lago resort in Florida, that he would support another Israeli attack on Iran if the Islamic Republic “continued” its missile program.

(antiwar.com)

I thought according to Donny we destroyed their capability to enrich when we bombed them last year so if it is true how are they pursuing nukes?

Did he lie to us?

Please do not answer that for the answer is too damn obvious.

I glad to see that Israel is pushing for us to do their dirty work for them…hop Donny hop!

We could be days away from yet another adventure in regime change….the neocons favorite activity.

A Return To Yesteryear

There has been massive protests in Iran and the neocons are drooling all over themselves and they want to return the son of the late shah to a leadership roll.

It’s getting a little old at this point, but as the Deep State log rolls for another U.S. attack on Iran, it is promoting a new Iranian national savior, one with a familiar name.

Here’s a graphic seen on X, much like others showing up on social media, championing Reza Pahlavi as “the legitimate national leader of Iran.”

Because Pahlavi calls for more U.S. intervention in Iran including airstrikes, his champions are a midnight choir of failed voices from prior regime change calamities:  Richard Perle, Michael Ledeen, James Woolsey.  He is featured frequently in the warmongering of the Empire’s lapdog press, in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and on Fox News.

Pahlavi’s only claim to legitimacy is that he is the son of the late-Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi who was driven from Iran in the 1979 revolution.

https://original.antiwar.com/charles-goyette/2026/02/11/1953-redux-neocons-want-to-saddle-iran-with-the-son-of-the-persian-stalin/

Once again the US is ass deep in regime change….and as usual we have a leader in mind…..one that will be subservient to the US….just another control issue of oil.

The Iranian people’s desire is nowhere in the equation…..period!

This will return Iran to the days where the secret police (the Iranian version of ICE) will keep the people inline with brutality and the only winner in the overthrow of the Iranian leadership will be Pahlavi just as his father benefited.

Plus it will give Israel more leeway to focus all its energy on the elimination of Palestine in favor of some lousy idea of a Holy Land.

This will not bring peace to the region just a momentary lull until the next Iranian revolution.

Selective Memories

NOTE:  This is not necessarily about the current mash-up in Gaza just a few observations that I have made in my many years.

I would like to reiterate that I am NOT anti-Jew, personally I do not give a shit about their religious beliefs.

This post is more about the selective memories of the American people than it is about the current situation.

WARNING:  This post may include some offensive language that may offend the sensibilities of some readers….so if you are easily offended then maybe this post is not for you.

The date is 04 November 1979….US ally Iran has had months of protests against the policies and tactics of the Shah and on this date Iranian students stormed the walls of the US embassy in Tehran breaching them and taking 52 Americans hostage which were held for 444 days until their release on 20 January 1981.

Since that fateful day Americans have despised anything remotely Iranian.  (There so much more to that action than just a bunch of pissed off students)

To this day they, Iran, can do nothing right in the eyes of most Americans….for they are evil.

The date is 08 June 1967….during the 6 Day war when Israel was fighting against the combined forces of the Arab nations.

The US signit ship, USS Liberty, was patrolling in the Eastern Mediterranean….when suddenly the ship was attacked by Israeli jets and gunboats….the attack left 34 American sailors dead and 174 wounded.

Yet Americans ignore this murderous attack and support Israel in everything they do….why?

If you are interested, which you are not, I have a post the has articles about this attack….fucking read them and see what our good ally is capable of doing.

Remember The USS Liberty!

I to this day do not understand why Americans would rather ignore a barbaric murderous attack like the one Israel pulled on an American flagged unarmed ship.

A case of friendly fire?  NO!  This was no accident the cowards knew what they were attacking and who.  There is NO excuse for this action or the cover-up to protect an ally….NO excuse!

When we celebrate Veterans Day with the usual fanfare…all the thanks for your service and all….to me it is all just hollow gestures….for the ignoring the veterans of the USS Liberty diminishes all our vets and the American people are doing just that.

Of course the public can make excuses like ‘we did not know’ but that is a cop-out….they do not want to know….it is more important to show support for Israel than to honor fallen veterans who were doing their duty and serving their country in a time of need and were brutally murdered.

What is it that drives so many Americans to blindly, yes I said blindly, support Israel in all they do?

I know the answer….do you?

Please do not try to excuse this away for there is NO excuse for the men they killed and injured…..none whatsoever.

Again I apologize for the vulgarity of my tone….but this is something I feel strongly about….which if you read any of the reference material can understand my tone.

What Game Is This?

We all know that US assaulted Iranian nuke sites recently and the whole affair ended in a tentative ceasefire….but as with most things within Donny’s foreign policy world there are questions….

It was reported shortly after the US airstrikes that Iran had been alerted….time enough to move their enrichment process.

The after strike assessment run the gambit of BS….Donny says the sites were ‘obliterated then US intel disputed that claim and then everyone fell in line with Donny, whatever pressure he used, and the story now is they were heavily effected.

The Iran retaliated by an attack on the US base in Qatar….the report is that it was an ineffective attack….

Donny has stated that Iran warned the US before the attack….

President Trump said Monday the Iranian government offered “early notice” about a series of missile strikes that targeted the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, downplaying Iran’s response to the U.S. bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend as “very weak.”

“I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured,” Mr. Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

The president did not specify how much early warning Iran gave or how the warning was delivered. But Mr. Trump’s message seemed to confirm speculation that Iran could telegraph its plans for retaliation in advance, giving the United States a chance to minimize the damage and avoid an escalation.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-iran-early-notice-qatar-attacks-us-base/

It is said that Iran told Qatar of the impending airstrike knowing the Qatari government would tell their good friend about it.

To me it was just a way for the Iranians to save face after all the harsh rhetoric they had uttered.

What is going on in US foreign policy?

Iran was warned then Iran warmed of their intentions….what page is this from in the foreign policy handbook?

After looking over the reports all I can say is WTF?

Is this the new foreign policy….tough talk and then behind the scenes making nice with however we are at odds with?

At least all of Israel’s efforts and those US airstrikes have stopped Iran’s nuke program…..or did it?

President Trump is not going to like the new interview from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Speaking to Face the Nation on CBS News, Rafael Grossi downplayed the damage done to Iran’s nuclear sites by US bombs.

  • Iran could start enriching uranium again, at least to a small degree, in a “matter of months,” said Grossi, per the BBC.
  • In his interview with Margaret Brennan, Grossi said it’s “clear that there has been severe damage, but it’s not total damage.” What’s more, “Iran has the capacities there; industrial and technological capacities. So if they so wish, they will be able to start doing this again.”
  • Gross’s comments sync with a leaked preliminary assessment by US intelligence, though the assessment’s conclusions have been aggressively disputed by Trump and defense secretary Pete Hegseth. Trump most recently asserted that Iran’s nuclear program has been set back years, if not “decades.” But Grossi’s contention is that diplomacy, not military strikes, is the only way to get a permanent solution.

Sitting and shaking my head.

Then there is the intercepted call on the damage….

Intercepted conversations among top Iranian officials indicate that the recent US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites caused less damage than the officials expected, contradicting President Trump’s claims of “obliteration.” Four people familiar with the intercepted Iranian communications anonymously shared the information with the Washington Post, prompting pushback from the Trump administration. “It’s shameful that the Washington Post is helping people commit felonies by publishing out-of-context leaks,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. “The notion that unnamed Iranian officials know what happened under hundreds of feet of rubble is nonsense. Their nuclear weapons program is over.”

The intercepted communications revealed surprise that the US strikes were less damaging than anticipated, with speculation about why the attacks did not inflict greater destruction on nuclear sites, the sources say. The debate over just how much damage was truly inflicted continues to rage; another Trump administration official said the intercepted communication was incorrect because the US destroyed critical elements of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including a key metal conversion facility, which officials claim will take years to rebuild. CIA Director John Ratcliffe told lawmakers the same thing during a classified briefing last week, sources tell the AP.

Apparently Donny’s definition of the term ‘obliterated’ and mine are different.

I Read, I Write, You Know

Those Conflicting Reports

Now that there is a lull in the Iranian conflict thing there are conflicting reports on whether the damage was as all encompassing as it was first reported……

Little Marco has stated the popular Trump line….

In the back and forth around whether Iran’s nuclear capabilities were “obliterated” as President Trump has said or just damaged, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is making a case for the former fate. The New York Times reports Rubio on Wednesday provided a “more detailed description” of why he believes the US attack set Iran back years, not just months, and it involves a conversion facility in Isfahan—which the BBC reports was twice hit by Israel before the US targeted it. It’s where enriched uranium gas was converted by Iran into solid materials, then metal. Without that conversion, “you can’t do a nuclear bomb,” said Rubio. In his telling, the facility no longer exists:

  • “We can’t even find where it is, where it used to be on the map. The whole thing is blackened out. It’s gone. It’s wiped out.”

The BBC flags new satellite images that show a structure in Isfahan that the Institute for Science and International Security had previously said was the main uranium conversion building does appear to have been “mostly destroyed.”

Then there is contradictory reports by the DIA….

Unhappy with the leak of a preliminary assessment of the damage done to Iran’s nuclear facilities in a US bombing that disagrees with his own, President Trump plans to restrict the classified information his administration shares with Congress. “We are declaring a war on leakers,” a senior White House official told Axios on Wednesday. Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Marco Rubio, national security adviser in addition to being secretary of state, angrily objected to the leaking of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s initial assessment, which they say was meant to counter the president’s claim that the targets had been “obliterated.”

Then there is Donny who got butt hurt because of a leak….but hey leaks are a thing in DC it is an institution….personally I think leaks help keep the public informed otherwise there would be no info doled out to us peons.

But that is just me.

I am still wondering what game is being played with this whole affair.

Does anyone have an idea as to what?

How Did It Happen?

That is the ceasefire that is struggling right now come together to try and stop the insanity…..I am so glad you asked….

One name is emerging as a key figure in helping President Trump secure a ceasefire between Israel and Iran—the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. A rough chronology, from various reports.

  • On Monday afternoon, shortly after Iran’s relatively low-key retaliation against the US, Trump called Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and secured a pledge to a ceasefire, reports the New York Times.
  • Trump then spoke with the Qatari emir to ask for help in getting Iran to agree as well, reports Reuters. Al Thani spoke with Iranian officials by phone and did so, according to the account.
  • When both sides agreed, Trump announced the deal on Truth Social, and it caught many administration officials by surprise, per the Times. However, three in the loop were Vice President JD Vance, envoy Steve Witkoff, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. All three had been using “direct and indirect” channels to convey messages to Iran, according to the account.
  • Rubio also reportedly spoke with Qatar’s prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, who is also believed to have helped sway the Iranians, perhaps in tandem with the emir.
  • Axios reports that Trump actually began pushing in earnest for a ceasefire on Saturday, after American bombers hit Iranian nuclear sites. The president instructed Witkoff that day “to communicate to the Iranians his desire “to negotiate a deal to end the war,” the report says. Iranian initially rebuffed him, saying it planned to retaliate first.

Thank you to all involved to help this insanity de-escalate.

But how did Donny accomplish this after the rocky start?

A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran appears to be holding after it got off to a shaky start, and President Trump publicly urged Israel to stop the bombing.

Trump announced the truce on Monday night, which was followed by heavy Israeli attacks on Tehran. Iran then hit back with several waves of ballistic missile strikes.

“[Iran] violated it, but Israel violated it too,” Trump told reporters on the White House lawn before boarding Marine One to go to the NATO summit in The Hague. “Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before, the biggest load that we’ve seen. I’m not happy with Israel.”

When Trump announced the ceasefire, he said it would take effect in 12 hours. “When I say, ok, now you have 12 hours, you don’t go out in the first hour and just drop everything you have on them. So I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either, but I’m really unhappy if Israel is going out this morning because of one rocket,” Trump said.

“We have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f–k they are doing,” the president added.

(antiwar.com)

Great job but I am a bit suspicious….but that is my nature….my bad.

On another front….after the airstrikes on the Iranian nuke sites we were told that they were ‘obliterated’…..hold the phone!

The US strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran were not as successful as President Trump claimed they were, according to details of an early intelligence assessment leaked to outlets including CNN. Trump said the Saturday strikes “completely obliterated” nuclear facilities but according to CNN’s sources, core components of Iran’s nuclear program, including its stockpile of enriched uranium, survived and the US strikes only set the program back “maybe a few months, tops.”

  • Sources tell the Washington Post that the Defense Intelligence Agency report, based on the Pentagon’s early assessment of damage, also concluded that many of the centrifuges Iran uses to enrich uranium survived the strikes on the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan sites. Sources said the strikes collapsed the entrances to two of the sites but did not destroy underground buildings.
  • Experts who looked at satellite photos earlier called the strikes “incomplete.” Reuters reports that the Trump administration told the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday that the strikes had “degraded” the program.
  • The assessment could change as more intelligence comes in, CNN notes. The White House said it rejected the report. “This alleged assessment is flat-out wrong and was classified as ‘top secret’ but was still leaked to CNN by an anonymous, low-level loser in the intelligence community,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “The leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump, and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program.”
  • Classified Iran briefings for the House and Senate were postponed on Tuesday. Democratic Rep. Mike Quigley, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, tells the Post that many lawmakers believe the hearings were delayed because the administration is embarrassed by the early intelligence reports. “They don’t delay briefings that have good news,” he says.

Only time will tell….if the reports are true then how long will it be before Israel starts their push for more US involvement?

Anyone want to venture a guess?

I Read, I Write, You Know

Is It A Ceasefire?

Yes the US had hits on Iran’s nuke facilities and the world braced for the possible retaliation after all the tough talk….and then….

Iran has made its first retaliatory response to the US airstrikes—it fired a barrage of missiles at an American military base in Qatar on Monday, reports the Wall Street Journal. However, Qatar said it had successfully intercepted the missiles, or at least the first round of them. Sources tell the New York Times that Iran warned Qatari officials about the strikes in advance to minimize civilian casualties—and the attack came shortly after Qatar shut down its airspace.

Iran confirmed the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base after explosions were heard there. An announcement on Iran state TV boasted of “a mighty and successful response by the armed forces of Iran to America’s aggression,” per the AP. The base, headquarters of US Central Command, is the biggest American military installation in the Mideast. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties there.

After attack analysis…..

The Pentagon says it has no reports of injuries or deaths at its military base in Qatar after Iran fired a barrage of missiles, reports the Washington Post. And the AP notes that Iran made a point to say that it used the same number of missiles as the US dropped on Iran, which the outlet sees as a “likely desire to de-escalate.” Whether that’s an accurate read remains to be seen, but a few other details suggest that Tehran kept things relatively contained:

  • The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, reports that Iran gave Qatar a head’s up about the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in order to limit casualties. Qatar says it was able to intercept all the missiles, and the nation also shut down its airspace as a precaution.

After the smoke and dust had cleared Dear Clueless Leader announces a ceasefire…..

President Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social on Monday that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire, ending what he called “The 12 Day War,” an announcement that came amid heavy Israeli attacks on Tehran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi said in a post on X that there was no “agreement” on a ceasefire but said Iran would cease counterattacks on Israel if Israel stopped its strikes, which has been Tehran’s position.

“As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around. As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations,” Aragchi said.

“However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later,” he added.

https://news.antiwar.com/2025/06/23/trump-says-iran-and-israel-have-agreed-to-a-ceasefire/

One note here….Neither Israel nor Iran immediately confirmed Trump’s announcement that they had agreed to a ceasefire.

Tit for tat warnings?

The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, reports that Iran gave Qatar a head’s up about the attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in order to limit casualties. Qatar says it was able to intercept all the missiles, and the nation also shut down its airspace as a precaution.

I am sure that Qatar shared that info with the US.

Then there was a report that the US told Iran of the upcoming airstrike….

Vice President JD Vance raised major questions about the success of the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities after suggesting that Tehran’s near-bomb-grade uranium was moved before the attacks.

Israeli sources were quoted as saying that Iran moved as much as 880 pounds of uranium enriched to 60 percent purity from a secure nuclear storage plant in the ancient city of Isfahan.

“Iran has made no secret that they have protected this material,” Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told CNN.

Announcing the raids, the president said the nuclear sites at Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz were “completely and fully obliterated.”

(thedailybeast.com)

The physical sites may have been obliterated but the material remains….where was the success?

The situation is still fluid in my opinion and subject to stupid thinking.

If the ceasefire is a reality then I say bully for not escalating this to the breaking point.

Here is a closing thought….the hope was the attack would cause a popular uprising against the standing government in Iran….so far that has not happened….

However, this strategy has already backfired. Instead of provoking division, namely between opponents of the Iranian government and its backers, the attacks have galvanized national unity across ideological lines. Millions have taken to the streets in cities across Iran including Tehran, Mashhad and Isfahan—not only in protest of foreign aggression, but in defense of Iran’s sovereignty. Even longstanding critics of Iran’s government have closed ranks, recognizing that the existential threat posed by US-Israeli aggression transcends domestic political grievances. Iranians around the country are now even assisting security forces to counter and dismantle espionage networks working with Mossad inside Iran. This convergence of sentiment, seen in everything from volunteer enlistments to mass mobilization efforts, underscores a recurring lesson of imperialist miscalculation: external pressures often consolidate, rather than fracture, national identity.

Does not look like ‘regime change’ is in the wind….for now….

Captain Clueless And The World Of Tomorrow

It is done!

The US jumped into the Iran/Israel mash-up and by all accounts (I do not believe half of what they sat because they are constantly lying to the people) it was a success on hitting the Nuke facilities…..now we wait for the retaliation.

When and if it comes what will it look like?

Things could get messy fast.

Now the waiting game begins. How will Iran respond to attacks on three of its sites, including Fordo, seen as the crown jewel of its nuclear programme?

Trump appears to be hoping the US strikes force Iran to make greater concessions at the negotiating table, but it seems unlikely that a nation unwilling to talk while under Israeli attack will be more inclined when American bombs are also falling.

And while Trump seemed to be implying that the US attack was a singular, successful event, if that’s not the case, then the pressure to strike again will grow – or the president will have taken a serious political risk for minimal military gain.

At first I think it will be cyberattacks…..

In the wake of President Donald Trump’s “massive precision strikes” on Iran, concerns have been raised both for Americans in the region and at home.

A principal area of worry is cyberattacks by Iranian state actors, including targeting the banking system or energy grid.

A recent Department of Homeland Security bulletin warned: “Iranian government-affiliated cyber actors will probably prioritize retaliatory attacks against Israeli targets in the short term but may target U.S. networks due to their perception of U.S. support for Israeli strikes.”

The bulletin urged domestic critical infrastructure entities to “immediately” assess and shore up their security. Such attacks have already infiltrated U.S. water and wastewater systems, according to the non-profit think tank Center for Internet Security, which briefed law enforcement on Friday.

The possibility of retaliation against our troops could be in the early stages of planning….

Iranian forces themselves have previously targeted American interests, hitting U.S. bases in the Middle East, for instance, after top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani was killed in an American airstrike in Iraq in 2020.

And in the summer of last year, the Justice Department also separately charged a Pakistani man with ties to the Iranian government for allegedly seeking to carry out political assassinations. Authorities told ABC News that among Asif Merchant’s targets were Trump and other current and former U.S. officials.

Then think about the Strait of Hormuz…..

Iranian media reported on Sunday that Iran’s parliament has voted to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to the US bombing of three Iranian nuclear facilities, a step that could significantly impact the global oil markets and economy.

Esmaeil Kowsari, a senior Iranian lawmaker, said it was now up to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council whether to go through with closing the waterway. “The parliament has come to the conclusion that it should close the Hormuz Strait, but the final decision lies with the Supreme National Security Council,” he said.

Roughly 18 million barrels of crude oil — about 20% of the world’s consumption — move through the Strait of Hormuz each day, making it a vital choke point for global energy trade. According to Newsweek, some experts suggest that closing the strait could raise oil prices by 30% to 50%, potentially leading to a $5 increase in gasoline prices per gallon.

This action would be my first guess if Iran retaliates.

Finally the scary part of this whole thing….

Medvedev responded to the US strike in social media posts, including on his English-language channels, on June 22 by claiming that US President Donald Trump has started a new war.[7] Medvedev also claimed that the United States failed to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities, that Iran will continue to work towards the production of nuclear weapons, and that several unspecified countries are ready to “directly supply” Iran with nuclear warheads. The Kremlin typically leverages Medvedev to amplify narratives intended to stoke panic and fear among Western decision makers, particularly through nuclear saber rattling.[8] Medvedev’s veiled threats thus do not represent a significant rhetorical inflection. CTP-ISW continues to assess that Russia is constrained in its ability to provide direct support to Iran due to its war in Ukraine and has likely resigned itself to providing diplomatic overtures for the time being, showcasing the immediate limitations in the Russo-Iranian strategic relationship.

Of course this could very well be vague chest thumping but one that needs to be watched closely.

Just a couple of scenarios but the situation seems to be fluid right now so anything could happen at any time.
