Closing Thought–28Nov16

On “Political Correctness”……………

Let me say in the opening here that I am NOT a fan in the WaPo…..but from time to time they do offer some sage thoughts….

For several years now the Right has been employing a word game with opinions of anyone that does not agree with them….”political correctness”…..

A former Sec of the Treasury has offered up an op-ed on the subject……

I will never again use the term “political correctness.” Whatever rhetorical value the term may have once had is far more than offset by what has been unleashed in the name of resistance to it since the presidential election.

I have made no secret over the years of my conviction that the sensitivities of individuals or members of various group should not be permitted to chill free speech on college campuses. I have the scars to show for speaking out against overdoing the idea of microaggression, the regulation of Halloween costumes and the prosecution of students for taking part in sombrero parties – all of which have struck me as “political correctness” run amok.

I am sure that my Right readers will say that this is just a way to explain the opinions of those on the Left…..if so then it is a short cut because they have very little to offer as an argument…..

I am sure I will hear from them on this…..

I await the onslaught.

I Cannot Support Donald Trump–HH

I will admit that Trump has said a few things that I can agree with……but his social and economic issues just suck.

But one thing that he has that I cannot tolerate is the support he has received from hate groups like KKK, Neo-Nazis, etc…..

With his many appeals to nativism, bigotry, and bitter discontent, Donald Trump has enthralled far-right extremists with his campaign for president. According to an investigation by Mother Jones and the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute, since Trump officially announced his bid in June 2015 he has drawn effusive praise and formal backing from some of the country’s most virulent neo-Nazis, white supremacists, militia supporters, and other extremist leaders. They include the head of the American Nazi Party, three former Ku Klux Klansmen, four people involved in a recent armed standoff against federal authorities at an Oregon wildlife refuge, and at least 15 individuals affiliated with organizations described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as hate groups.

Trump has disavowed none of them.

He, Trump, may not be a fascist himself but he has the support of many of them and their representative bodies….our country has enough problems we really do not need these toads sniffing after our candidates.

These people have a right to their beliefs and the right to support whomever echoes their beliefs……but that does not mean that I must follow suit…..

I would NEVER knowingly support any candidate that has the endorsement of these groups….and that is why I could NEVER support Donald J. Trump.

Hate As A Pyramid Scheme

You know hate can be pretty darn lucrative…..hate sells and when it sells it becomes really profitable….I remember the pyramid schemes from years past…you know the ones where you join and work your way up to manager, supervisor or regional director….with each step you would get money from each person you had in your plan……

The reason I bring this up is that the old stand-by for racists and bigots alike….the KKK, the Klan, you know those guys in white sheets and face covers……someone did a bit of historical perspective on the workings of the Klan back in the 1920’s……

Even during its 1920s heyday, the Ku Klux Klan wasn’t a very effective hate group, according to an analysis by Harvard economist Roland G. Fryer and Steven D. Levitt, the latter of Freakonomics fame. However, the Klan was a “wildly successful” pyramid scheme, according to a Priceonomics blog post that rehashes the pair’s 2011 study of the group. In the piece, Rosie Cima writes that KKK leaders “exploited pre-existing, popular racism to make money.” For example, during a time when most in the US made less than $700 annually, the KKK leader in Indiana made some $200,000. He and other leaders managed it through clever marketing and the invention of all kinds of ways to make money off their own members—a classic trait of a pyramid scheme. For instance, the Klan charged members a $10 initiation fee, and Fryer and Levitt provide the breakdown:

  • $4 to the salesman (called a “Kleagle”) who recruited a member
  • $2.50 to the PR firm the Klan had hired to boost membership (it boomed)
  • $2 to the Klan’s self-declared “grand wizard,” William Simmons
  • $1.50 to a regional supervisor (the “Grand Goblin”).

The result, Cima notes, “looked much like a modern multi-level marketing company—with extremely stupid titles.” And it didn’t stop with initiation fees: the Klan leaned on members to buy robes (and robe cleaning), along with Klan-branded life insurance, accessories, bibles, and even candy. The Klan petered out as a genuine national force in the 1940s (the feds got them for back taxes). But small KKK groups are still out there, and, according to Vice, some are using candy as a recruiting tool rather than as a moneymaker. Residents of Cullman City, Arkansas, recently received KKK fliers packaged with Tootsie Rolls and lollipops. Authorities there are investigating the not-so-original scheme.

Like I said…..hate can be very profitable……god bless capitalism…..

Why Add Fuel To The Flames Of Hate?

I swear it appears to me at times that the media is just feeding the flames of religious hatred under the ‘guise’ of reporting the news.

By now everyone has heard the story of the foiled terrorism plot by that wacko in Boston…..he had decided to go after and behead police…..but there seems to be another plan before the police one was decided on……..

The man shot to death yesterday in Boston with a military-style knife originally planned to go after activist Pamela Geller, reports CNN. (She was the organizer of the Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas that drew an attack claimed by ISIS.) CNN quotes law enforcement sources who say that Usaama Rahim planned to behead Geller but got impatient and decided to go after local police because he saw them as an easier and quicker target. Authorities say that Rahim had been discussing his plans with a relative named David Wright, who has been arrested on charges of obstructing a federal investigation, reports AP. It’s not clear how the men are related.

“Yeah, I’m going to be on vacation right here in Massachusetts,” Rahim says in a recorded conversation with Wright, according to a court affidavit. “I’m just going to, ah, go after them, those boys in blue. Cause, ah, it’s the easiest target.”

Word has come out that this original idea was probably a fantasy not a real plan.

This report will just give much needed hot air to her hate filled balloon……it gives her yet another reason to go before the cameras of FOX and spout her CRAP!

The media did not have to report this part for they had positive proof that these people were actually going to go after police and try and behead them…….all they have done is make this hate filled c**t, Geller,  job of spreading hate much easier.

I question the motive behind this or anything the MSM does that makes spreading hate that much easier.

I am SICK of Americans trying to get other Americans to hate Americans……..

Texas Attack: It’s Not My Fault!

Yep every Tom,  Dick and Harry has heard about the attack on the ‘peaceful’ collection of cartoonists in Garland Texas…..if you have not then you have been doing something constructive and did not pay attention…..which means that you have not drawn a conclusion yet……..kudos to you.

The sponsor of this festival was American Freedom Defense Initiative (God I love these people…they give some quasi patriot name to their hate)…..anyway the president of this group Pam Geller has been spouting her hate for a couple of years now…..but of course she will defend on 1st amendment right……

Pamela Geller, whose group staged the Texas event that drew two shooters with alleged links to ISIS, is defiantly dismissing critics who accuse her of provoking the attack. The event featured cartoons lampooning Muhammad, and Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, sees it as a matter of free speech. If Muslim jihadists were offended, well too bad, she writes in Time. “Putting up with being offended is essential in a pluralistic society in which people differ on basic truths. If a group will not stand for being offended without resorting to violence, that group will rule unopposed, while everyone else lives in fear.”

If society caves to the rules about what can and can’t be said as dictated by these extremists, it sets a dangerous precedent that encourages more violence, writes Geller. She thinks, for example, that if international media outlets had run similarly controversial Danish cartoons back in 2005, attacks such as the one on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris would not be happening today. “This is a war,” she declares. “Are we going to surrender to these monsters?” Click for her full post. Or for an opposing view, check out a Salon piece that accuses Geller of being an “extremist” herself who is only making matters worse.

Personally you may hate as much as you, something at which we Americans excel, but when you turn that hate into an event then you 1st amendment rights should be called into question……

This woman, if I may call her that, and her group is an organization that I call “Hate For Profit”……..and I would imagine that now with her hateful prediction have finally come to truth she will make even more cash from like minded haters.

She is typical of a lot of the hate….”it’s not my fault”…….but that is inaccurate…..IT IS HER FAULT!  Hiding behind the Constitution to justify hate makes her a COWARD!  Period!

The Day Before Today

From the Desk of Chuq

In case you are confused that would be yesterday.  The media did what it always does….it chooses what will be news……no secret that I think very little of the MSM to me they are just a group of worthless propagandists.

Fir instance yesterday…..they reported on a shooting in Texas and the name of a new baby in the Royal family (I will not mention that fake report by FOX News that the rest of the MSM jumped on as fact)…….but let’s talk about these two news reports……..

First, the shooting at an anti-Muslim cartoon fest in Garland, Texas.  Nobody should have been surprised!  The group sponsoring the festival is a “hate for profit” group that pulls down about $3 million a year.  For years they have been spouting hate and the dangers of Islam…….they got the reaction they had hoped for….it provoked someone to talk action and thus their many years of prophecy arrives and they are now validated and the profits will rise.  Yep, this was news….but for the wrong reason……the MSM gets several days of milking this story for everything and the bitch in charge of the group gets a couple of days of massive bookings to help spread her message nationwide…….for the 2 groups it is a win-win scenario you are always hearing about…….

Second, the name of the Royal baby….why?  Most most intelligent people could care less….it is NOT news for anyone but the Queen.  About 200 years ago we fought a revolution so we do not have to care what happens to the royals.  No where in journalism, true journalism, should this have been a lead story…….it the grand scheme of things it is NOTHING!

The reason that I bring this up is that while the American MSM was focused on “reality” TV real situations were occurring……

First, the Saudis war with Yemen……..it has taken a turn that the US could well be drawn into and NOT in a good way….

Weeks of Saudi airstrikes against Yemeni cities have extended into the first deployment of ground troops over the weekend, with witnesses confirming Saudi special forces on the ground in Aden, backed by helicopter gunships.

Not making much progress that way, the Saudis seem to be bringing in the first of their ground troops. With massive numbers of troops massed around the northern border, this may just be the first of a full-scale war.

Since the US is a major ally to the Saudis….who will get called when things go South?

The second major story…..and one that you will most likely NEVER hear on any of the MSM outlets………

Israel has repeatedly denied reports of deliberate targeting of civilians during its wars in the Gaza Strip,  those claims were once again proven false today with the release of a new report by Israeli veterans NGO Breaking the Silence.

The report features testimony from more than 60 Israeli soldiers who confirmed that not only did they deliberately target civilians during the most recent invasion, but that they were explicitly ordered to do so.

Whoever you see there, you kill,” is how one soldier summed up the orders. He said soldiers were told the civilians “knew they’re not supposed to be there” and therefore they were to kill anyone who wasn’t an Israeli soldier on sight.

Western media will do all they can to make sure that this story never sees the light of day for they are always covering up any story that paints Israel in a negative light.

The Media makes me sick!  We NO longer have what they all say they are about….”fair and balanced” reporting….that is only a slogan that does not represent the truth in any form!

Enough said?

Always Looking For Good News

The world is choke full of bad news…..from starvation to pandemics to war to just plain stupid violence……so when I rad a piece that I consider good news I will always share it with my readers…and yesterday I saw a report that made me smile……

Tough times for the far right? The number of militias, skinhead gangs, and other extremist groups in the US dropped last year for the first time since 1999, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The hate-group watchdog found that the number of extreme-right groups dropped around 14% to 2,035, though it says the fall followed “four years of explosive growth,” reports CNN. The number of organizations classed as hate groups dropped 7% to 939—up from just 457 in 1999. “Patriot” groups dropped by 19% to 1,096, but there were only 149 such groups in 2008. The drop is owed to many factors, including internal squabbles, legal troubles, the improving economy, widespread demoralization at President Obama’s re-election—and the adoption of some extremist policies by mainstream politicians, the SPLC says. But despite the drop in numbers, the center warns that far-right extremists are still a serious threat, reports the Los Angeles Times. “The radical right is growing leaner and meaner,” a senior fellow at the center says. “The numbers are down somewhat, but the potential for violence remains high.”

Like I said good news…..but how long will it last?  We are not far away from another presidential election and the possibility of an up-tick in these groups could be on the horizon.

Or could this be the beginning of a country of harmony?  Love is out of the question, so I will settle for a little harmony…..maybe then the people will become more important than ideological bullsh*t.

Just saying.

On The Best Seller List

My weekend begins….I get to spend some quality time with my lady and my daughter and that makes it a wonderful time…..so keeping with tradition I will post on anything but politics……enjoy……

Many books have made the “best seller” list over the years….books like “Eat, Pray Love”, 50 Shades of Grey”, The Bible….on and on….and then there is a surprise every now and then….a sleeper best seller, if you will…..but of all the books published this one just caught me off guard……maybe 90 years ago it would not be surprising….but today!……

(Newser) – If you look at the politics and current events section on iTunes’ book store you will, as of this writing, see Hitler’s face staring back at you out of the 3 and 4 spots. Mein Kampf has been a nothing short of an e-book blockbuster, on both iTunes and Amazon, even though the physical edition is a rarity that hasn’t made the New York Times bestseller list since its US release in 1939. The phenomenon isn’t exactly new, but it’s getting talked about thanks to an in-depth post from Chris Faraone at Vocativ.

Faraone’s theory is that Hitler’s polemic is benefiting from what he terms the “50 Shades phenomenon.” People might not want to be caught reading 50 Shades of Grey on the subway, or buying it in person, he reasons, but they’re curious about the content—which is why the Romance Writers of America says its genre sells a disproportionate number of eBooks. User reviews suggest similar motives are at work for Hitler readers. That may make sense, but Jewish leaders are concerned. “While the academic study of Mein Kampf is certainly legitimate,” the head of the World Jewish Congress tells ABC, “we think that responsible companies shouldn’t profiteer from the sales of hate books.”

Sorry…just cannot see that piece of bound toilet paper as a best seller…..how about you guys?

A Very Successful Con Job

I always like to hear about a good con job, especially political ones….you know like the con job that tax cuts will create jobs and increase revenue…..or that national health care will create death panels….just to mention a few….I recently saw a report that leads me to believe there has been a ten year successful con job perpetuated on the American people….

Since the attack on 9/11, a day we observe as Patriots Day….today….has started a deluge of misinformation by a number of sources to foment hatred of Muslims….if you have watched any news organizations shows then you will recall at least one such report of the creeping sharia law or some such …….

But a recent report from the Center for American Progress,  has shed a little more light on what is really going on….with the help of “think tanks” and so-called “experts” the American people have been bombarded with tons of misinformation…..

The 130-page report, ‘Fear, Inc.: The Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America’, identifies seven foundations that have quietly provided a total of more than 42 million dollars to key individuals and organisations that have spearheaded the nation-wide effort between 2001 and 2009.The network also includes what the report calls “misinformation experts” – including Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy (CSP), Daniel Pipes of the Philadelphia-based Middle East Forum (MEF), Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, David Yerushalmi of the Society of Americans for National Existence, and Robert Spencer of Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) – who are often tapped by television news networks and right-wing radio talk shows to comment on Islam and the threat it allegedly poses to U.S. national security.

“This small band of radical ideologues has fought to define Sharia as a ‘totalitarian ideology’ and legal- political-military doctrine committed to destroying Western civilization,” the report said. “But a scholar of Islam and Muslim tradition would not recognise their definition of Sharia, let alone a lay practicing Muslim.”

Nonetheless, the group’s messages receive wide dissemination by what the report calls an “Islamophobia echo chamber” consisting of leaders of the Christian Right, such as Franklin Graham and Pat Robertson, and some Republican politicians, such as presidential candidates Representative Michele Bachmann and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.

This report was released on August 26, 2011 and was NOT covered by any media….I guess we could blame Irene for the lack of attention and by the time the hurricane had run its course…..the report was not considered newsworthy…..

I read the report and just wanted people to know that NOT everything you hear about Muslims is the truth….that some have this desire to have Americans hate someone or something……even if those they hate are Americans….and that my friends…is the truly sad part!
