“Texans need guns”

With at least 300 gun violence incidents in 2021…the last thing we need (anywhere in this country) is more lax gun laws.

But do not worry…..Texas gives a sh*t about this stat…..

Gov. Abbot made this claim at a signing of a new bill…..

Gov. Greg Abbott invoked not just the imagery of the Alamo when he signed a package of legislation relaxing gun control laws in Texas—he called on the head of the National Rifle Association to line up with him. The governor staged a bill-signing ceremony Thursday in San Antonio, a day after actually signing the bills, the Austin American-Statesman reports. One of the new laws allows anyone 21 or older to carry a handgun in public without a permit. Until now, a permit was required, as was training and a criminal background check. “There is a need for people to have a weapon to defend themselves in the Lone Star State,” Abbott said, per the AP. Wayne LaPierre, NRA boss, said: “People want to be able to protect themselves. And thank God that Texas is leading the way for the country.”

At the same time, demonstrators including Moms Demand Action protested the new laws outside the governor’s mansion in Austin. The other six measures, all of which take effect Sept. 1, per the American-Statesman, will:

  • Prohibit government contracts with any entity that discriminates against the firearm industry.
  • Keep hotels from enacting restrictive gun policies.
  • Grant people carrying handguns more choices on which holster to wear.
  • Take firearm suppressors off the list of prohibited weapons under the Texas Penal Code.
  • Decree firearms manufacturers and sellers essential businesses.
  • Bar state and local governments from enforcing new federal gun regulations.

The head of the Texas Municipal Police Association says the new legislation will make it tougher for officers to determine whether someone carrying a gun is allowed to, per Reuters.

Now that is what we need…..more and easy access to carry guns for morons with half a brain.

This will do nothing to help the spiraling upwards of incidents of gun violence and it is now Summer and it will only get worse.

Not to worry……

This will become the poster child for more GOP states to do something that means nothing to the livelihood of the people.

Let stupidity prevail!

This decision in the US Court of Appeals should go all the way to SCOTUS.

I am personally sick of seeing all these mental midgets that tote their guns like their penis and trying to look all macho and intimidating…..to me they are cowards pretending they are all that and feel they must run in packs.

But a recent decision by the Court of Appeals should do something about the insanity that mental midgets feel they have the right to do.

an en banc panel of the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that the second amendment right to keep and bear arms does not citizens include the right to carry a firearm, either openly or concealed, in public .

The court issued the ruling in the case of George Young Jr. V Hawaii, a lawsuit challenging a Hawaii firearm licensing law, which states residents seeking license to openly carry a firearm in public must demonstrate “the urgency or the need” to carry a firearm, must be of good moral character, and must be “engaged in the protection of life and property.” The court said, “There is no right to carry arms openly in public; nor is any such right within the scope of the Second Amendment.”

The majority opinion also states “we can find no general right to carry arms into the public square for self-defense.” The majority further argued that the second amendment applies to the “defense of hearth and home” and “the power of the government to regulate carrying arms in the public square does not infringe in any way on the right of an individual to defend his home or business.”

(americanmilitarynews.com)

Finally some justices with half a brain has stepped up….to do something to curb the insanity from morons with their guns.

The 7-4 decision said restrictions on carrying guns in public do not fall within the scope of what is protected by the Second Amendment.

“The government may regulate, and even prohibit, in public places – including government buildings, churches, schools, and markets – the open carrying of small arms capable of being concealed, whether they are carried concealed or openly,” Judge Jay Bybee wrote for the majority.

If you need your guns to feel safe then we do not need the police whose job is to protect the people from harm.

Like I said this should send the gun nuts into cardiac arrests and make them whine and moan….and in the end the NRA will step up and take this to SCOTUS.

My last thought….if you are an “originalist”….meaning that the Constitution should be interpreted in its original writing then the guns they wrote about were “MUSKETS”……

Just a thought.

Before I post on this situation I want all readers to know that I am a gun owner and I believe that there needs to be some sanity in our gun laws that we have today.

Now to the meat of this post……

A freshman rep from Georgia (that state not the country) who has been stripped of her committee assignments because of her hateful attitudes has offered up a bill the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA)……

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) kept her campaign pledge to defend gun rights by introducing the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) to defund all federal gun control enforcement and end funding for regulation and guidance issued by the ATF.

The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) will:

  • Cut all federal funding from implementing, enforcing, or advancing any measure, law, regulation, or guidance relating to the lawful use, purchase, sale, possession, or transportation of firearms by any citizen of the United States for Fiscal Year 2021.
  • Prohibit any federal funds from enforcing or implementing regulations or guidance issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms promulgated after November 1, 2020.

“Throughout my campaign for Congress, I promised the people of Northwest Georgia that I would be the strongest defender of gun rights on Capitol Hill. The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) prevents the federal government from using our taxpayer dollars to enforce gun control on law-abiding Americans.

Our God-given right to protect our country, ourselves and our families shouldn’t be up for debate. I’m proud to introduce this legislation, endorsed by the American Firearms Association, that will defund the enforcement of tyrannical gun control laws.”

Congressmen Paul Gosar (AZ-4), Randy Weber (TX-14), Scott Perry (PA-10), Madison Cawthorn (NC-11), Thomas Massie (KY-4) and Chip Roy (TX-21) have joined Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) as cosponsors of SAPA.

(allongeorgia.com)

This is a waste of time.

The ATF is going nowhere.

It makes no sense because there is no gun control in this country regardless of what loonies like Greene have to say.

More GOP games is all this is.

Who Will Confront The Protesters?

By now everyone has seen those protesters that show up and times decked out for combat….with the tac gear, their assault weapon at the ready…most of whom are standing with their comrades (why is there is seldom one that protests by him/her self?)

Remember images like this from Ferguson, MO?

Police take up position over demonstrators who were protesting the killing of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014.

Did you see this in Michigan?

We see very little police presence at these “protests” (they are not protesting just lonely little boys wanting to play army….it is called “cosplay”)…..but who could confront them since the police seem timid to do so?

Personally I am getting weary of these toads trying to intimidate so they can have their way about things….I have more respect for garden slugs than I do for any of these twats and their guns.

I feel there are some out there that would stand-up to these spineless bullies……please show these fools for the macho psycho cowards they truly have become…..

I have a thought…..

The conservatives have the demon NRA……maybe there needs to be an organization that will be the opposite…..an organization that truly cares about the rule of law…..

Not to worry there already is a group……the Socialist Rifle Association…..yes you read that right…..

The Socialist Rifle Association is an educational organization dedicated to providing the working class with the information they need to be effectively armed for self and community defense. This includes all manner of community defense, from the right of the working class to possess firearms to the ability to be well versed in the fields of medicine, disaster relief, logistics, agriculture, and survival skills. Our goal is to provide an alternate to the mainstream, toxic, right-wing, and non-inclusive gun culture that has dominated the firearms community for decades. We seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and left-leaning platform for talking about gun rights and self defense, free from racist and reactionary prejudices, while providing a platform for the working class to obtain the skills necessary for all aspects of community defense.

Our members produce quality manuals and guides for teaching firearms safety, marksmanship, history, and mechanics; as well as unarmed self defense, emergency medical care, disaster relief, and hunting. Our local chapters will provide in-person training and workshops, using individual members’ skills to help address the needs of their community. We also encourage members to pursue certification and outside training in EMT and disaster relief, so they can provide critical services to their community in bad times.

If you are any of the following: working class, progressive, anarchist, socialist, communist, eco-warrior, animal liberator, anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, PoC, LGBTQ+, or anyone else who is interested in learning about firearms and modern self defense — YOU are invited to join the Socialist Rifle Association today!

https://socialistra.org/about/

Reads like this group is for the members and not the manufacturers….that puts them heads above the NRA in my book.

Let’s say members show up to protest against the NRA thugs…..how many cops will show up?  Any takers on that question?

Just the name alone will make the news and the ire of conservatives and the cops…..these protesters would be treated like criminals while their opposites are tolerated….

I say screw the consequences…stand up to the protesters with NRA backing…..and see just how cowardly they truly are…..

All that said I am pleased to see that at least someone has stepped up in Michigan…..

Three black men brandishing rifles escorted a Michigan lawmaker to the State Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday, just days after hundreds of angry and armed white protestors stormed the building to protest the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

Rep. Sarah Anthony told City Pulse that she didn’t ask for help, but was glad to have extra protection so she could attend an appropriations committee meeting without fear of being threatened.

“We were all just appalled by the lack of support and lack of security that I had, that other legislators had, and the fact that a lot of the demonstrators last week were adorning many racist, anti-Semitic signage,” Anthony told the local news outlet. “I think it just triggered a lot of folks, especially African Americans.”

NOW more Americans need to step up and show these soulless SOBs that they do NOT run this country….that we are still a country of law.

The big news of the day is that of Colt and the AR-15.

In a huge announcement the firearms manufacturer has stated that they will cease making the AR-15 for civilian markets…..

Gun-maker Colt is suspending its production of rifles for the civilian market including the popular AR-15, the company said Thursday in a shift it attributed to changes in consumer demand and a market already saturated with similar weapons. The company said it will focus instead on fulfilling contracts with military and police customers for rifles, the AP reports. “The fact of the matter is that over the last few years, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity,” Colt’s chief executive officer, Dennis Veilleux, said in a statement. “Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.”

Veilleux said the company, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2016, remains committed to the Second Amendment. He said the company is expanding its lines of pistols and revolvers. Despite a national debate on gun control, Colt’s decision seems driven by business considerations rather than politics, said Adam Winkler, a gun policy expert at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Given “the history of Colt being a completely disorganized, dysfunctional company that goes into bankruptcy and can’t keep anything going properly, my assumption is that this is a business decision that is being driven by their own business problems,” he said. Still, Winkler said the company’s decision risks alienating and angering its remaining customer base.

A bit of good news for those people that want the weapon taken from the consumer marker (I am one of those)……

Will this cease the deaths?

Not at all.

It will just limit the amount of weapons available.

Just One More Gun Post

Before I begin let me assure my readers that this is not some anti-gun rant…..just a short look back at history and scratch my head.

What got me thinking about this more was a photo of a guy at a coffee stand with is carbine slung over shoulder…..since I could not find the one I wanted I give you this one…..

If you need a gun to get a cup of coffee stay home and make your own.

I see these photos of people carrying guns at protests, parades and just strolling around a city to be named.  It got me thinking back to my younger days when I was a Leftist protester……

https://lobotero.com/2013/06/14/could-not-happen-in-days-gone-by/

I remember just what the conservatives thought in those days and they would have given themselves an irritable bowel if we had shown up with a gun….

Okay how about the Black Panthers of their day…..not the new worthless bunch?  They were always pictured with their guns…..

Image result for black panthers images

Image result for black panthers images

Remember those days?  Those were the days when conservatives were hot for some sort of gun control…..when black people openly displayed guns….the GOP lots their collective minds…..and the irritable bowel returned.

The images from the two mass shootings this past weekend — in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio — were, as with all mass shootings, devastating. No matter how many news cycles come and go, it is impossible to stay numb to the story of a woman in El Paso who was shielding her baby son so that her dead body’s fall broke his bones while saving his life.

But for the generation that came of age in the wake of the 1999 Columbine shooting, these horrors and the constant anxiety that they bring have begun to feel normal — even inevitable. There have been well over 2,000 mass shootings in this country since 20 children and 6 staff members of Sandy Hook Elementary School were gunned down six and a half years ago. That’s just about one per day. And if gun violence in the United States now feels as inevitable as sickness, old age, and death, any cure feels equally unattainable.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/joshuamanson/gun-control-history-race-black-panther-party-conservatives

Yes I am an old fart and remember those days (dementia has not set in yet)

My point is that conservs are freaking hypocrites…..all is good as long as it is white people doing the deed.

How many Black men do you see in an open carry scenario these days?

According to Dr Jonathan Metzl, a psychiatrist and sociologist at Vanderbilt University, white supremacy is the key to understanding America’s gun debate. In his new book, Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland, Metzl argues that the intensity and polarization of the US gun debate makes much more sense when understood in the context of whiteness and white privilege.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/08/racism-gun-control-dying-of-whiteness

Time for a change.

The longer we go….the more game playing we do…the more people die…..

The U.S. has the most guns per capita and the weakest gun control laws of any developed country. It is estimated that at least 30 percent of American adults own a gun, and an additional 11 percent lives with someone who does. Nearly 48 percent of U.S. adults grew up in a household with guns. Nearly two-thirds of Americans who own guns own more than one.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has been unrelenting in its efforts to influence lawmakers. Although the majority of Americans say that gun laws should be more restrictive than what they are today lawmakers, to a large extent, are deaf to these demands.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/08/07/us-culture-violence-killing-us-all

And the rhetoric goes on…..and on.

NRA–Is There A Future?

Closing Thought–03Jan19

Before I begin….I am a gun owner and believe in the 2nd amendment….however I do not think that the NRA speaks for us gun owners…it is about making money and control of the rudder of government….us owners are nothing more than a tool to gain their desire of control……

I read an article before the holidays about the NRA and how it may be losing its strangle hold on the message…..

Good news for humanity: the NRA is weakening. The gun-lobbying group is in “deep financial trouble,” Fortune Magazine reported, and warns that the NRA may not be able to keep going. “The group says it is under such financial distress because New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has convinced a number of financial service providers, banks, and insurance providers against doing business with the gun-advocacy group. As a result, the NRA claims that it will be forced to end its magazine publishing and television services, and will be forced to curtail rallies and potentially shutter some of its offices.”

Governor Cuomo got a lot of credit for what, in reality, took an entire movement comprising hundreds of organizations. (For many reasons, business magazines tend to downplay the powerful role of social movements in economic shifts.) The reality is clear to those who have been following the Parkland students and movement groups like #NotOneMore and Everytown for Gun Safety: their strategies are working and the governor is a welcome ally.

https://www.counterpunch.org/2018/12/13/the-end-of-the-nra-business-magazines-tell-activists-the-strategy-is-working/

The National Rifle Association (NRA) said it is facing financial ruin because of a “blacklisting” campaign headed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, according to a lawsuit filed by the gun rights group.

The NRA said it may no longer be able to produce its magazines, run its video streaming service or hold rallies because the state of New York has caused “irrecoverable loss and irreparable harm” to the organization.

https://www.newsweek.com/nra-going-bankrupt-group-claim-it-will-soon-be-unable-exist-due-financial-1057187

Again this is not about our rights or gun control…it is about unbridled political power…..especially any abuses of our trust….and to my thinking the NRA has violated all trust that I gave them in the past.

Let it join the DoDo!

I Wanna Talk Gun Control

I was tired of the total speculation around a nomination……and totally weary of the moronic babbling of Our Dear Leader……the Whine of the elderly GOP…….and the false confidence of the Democrats….in short I am  tired of the news in general.

So let’s talk about something that is a forgotten topic these days….Gun Control.

To start the debate there are a couple of discussions on the subject…….

https://www.debate.org/opinions/should-we-have-gun-control

https://www.debate.org/opinions/is-gun-control-effective

https://gun-control.procon.org/

That ought to get the blood bubbling a bit……and even might draw some out of the shadows to insult and harangue……

Now that everyone is awake……here what I really wanted to write about……the whole debate is basically a battle of statistics……most times the stats used can be misleading…..

The academic debate over gun control consists mainly of a war of statistics. New studies come out every few weeks, and as a result, both sides are constantly locking horns over the validity or invalidity of this-or-that study in this-or-that country.

For those who aren’t formally trained in data analysis, this debate can seem impossible to navigate. How should untrained laypersons go about interpreting the findings of statistical studies?

https://theantimedia.com/misleading-statistics-gun-control-debate/

How was that?

Did the pressure rise a bit?

Me?

I am pro gun and we will leave it there but to me that does not mean the same thing as it does to a NRA toadie.

That was fun.

Besides the important stuff is not asked…..like….where is Rudy?

Turn The Page!

Is There An Answer For Gun Control?

Oh boy this title oughta get the juices flowing from one of my readers….of course because I am what some mental midgets call a “liberal” (BTW a term most on the Left detest) they will immediately assume that this is some sort of Leftist diatribe on how to get everyone’s guns……if that is the case then stop here and make a comment that I will tear apart…..or continue to read and see what this post is about……

Babies, concert goers and high school students have been killed in recent mass shootings, but the grip of the NRA and the gun manufacturers on Republican politicians remains firm. In fact, the NRA, gun manufacturers and Republican politicians are hard to distinguish. The gun industry gives millions every year to the NRA in the form of grants and millions more in the form of advertising in NRA publications. In some cases, a percentage of the sale price of guns and ammo goes directly to the NRA. Politicians receive a similar kickback. In the course of their careers, Sen. John McCain has received nearly $8 million from the NRA; Sen. Richard Burr, $7 million; Sen. Roy Blunt, $4.5 million, Marco Rubio, $3.5 million, etc. All of them together, with compliant Republican presidents, have succeeded in creating a Supreme Court willing to change the plain meaning of the Second Amendment from sanctioning a “well armed militia,” to endorsing a nearly universal right to be armed.

If you read the entire article I would like to hear from you…….please let me know your feeling on this……
