Personally I think that there is too much cash political elections….and apparently I am not alone….
A significant majority of Americans agree that there is too much money in the US political system and that the super rich have more influence over election outcomes than ordinary citizens, a poll published by Politico on Saturday found.
The poll comes after outside spending in the 2024 electionbroke records, with richest-man-alive Elon Musk pouring over $250 million into President Donald Trump’s campaign.

According to the poll, 72% of Americans agree that there is too much money in politics, while only 5% disagree. There is broad partisan consensus on this issue, with 80% of 2024 Kamala Harris voters and 77% of 2024 Trump voters also agreeing.
At the same time, 61% think that billionaires have too much influence on US politics. There was a larger partisan gap on this issue, with 75% of Harris voters and 55% of Trump voters agreeing
A total of 67% of respondents think that there is too much special interest money specifically in elections, and 53% see it as a form of corruption that should be restricted. There is also bipartisan support for the idea that special interest money is corruption, with 61% of Harris voters and 56% of Trump voters backing this position.
There is slightly more concern about money in politics from Democratic voters, with 49% of 2024 Harris voters stating it could outright buy elections compared with 33% of Trump voters.
It has been this way for far too long….it is time to stop bitching about and do something is my advice to the Dems in Congress.
The sad part is that they are just as empowered by all this cash as the Repubs….so there will be very little interest in turning a new leaf….there will always be something more important that they have to deal with on their limited agenda.
I am not saying to do not contribute but the money should go into a fund and be divided evenly among candidates….all candidates….this would help eliminate some of the special interests influence.
This will not solve the problem completely but it could help lessen the effect of all that cash.
I think the Dems are nowhere near saving this country from the chaos that Donny has created….but sadly we will just have to wait and see if they have a plan (I mean a real plan not some vague bullshit from their tiny minds).

Back in the early days of the 2008 election a couple of guys wanted to build a new independent party (dammit! I cannot recall what is was called)….their idea was to nominate a Dem and a Repub for a new independent ticket….it was a bomb and at best it was a political scam…..and now almost 20 years later another ‘well meaning’ billionaire has a ‘new’ idea.

The 70-year-old billionaire ended statewide speculation on Monday by announcing that he would not run for governor, reports Politico. However, Morgan does plan to launch a new state political party and will pay $100,000 to whoever comes up with its name. The contest rules will be laid out in the coming days. One that’s clear: Morgan can afford the reward: Forbes pegs his worth at $1.5 billion.
Morgan, who built the Morgan & Morgan injury law empire, has poured millions into successful ballot measures to raise Florida’s minimum wage and legalize marijuana, earning him the nickname “Pot Daddy.” The former Democrat, who is now registered as an Independent, previously flirted with gubernatorial runs in 2018 and 2024. In his Monday video, Morgan argued that “what ails us is the two-party system,” adding, “Most of us agree on most things, but if you put the D up and the R up, nothing ever gets done.”
Do not be fooled! This is just another political scam by a billionaire that is hedging his vote in case Donny is shown the door.

In an interview that aired on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer in May 2006, Unity08’s founders said that the group was formed in response to the polarization between the Republican and Democratic political parties. The group also cited a poll it commissioned from Princeton Survey Research and claimed that 82 percent of Americans think that the two major political parties are unable to address the country’s problems and that 73 percent of Americans are in favor of alternatives to the two parties.
The group’s status as a non-profit organization came into question when they asked the Federal Election Commission whether the group could defer registering as a political action committee until after its candidates for the 2008 presidential election were named. A draft released by the commission in July 2006 concluded that “Unity08 must register as a policy committee and therefore is subject to the reporting requirements and limitations and prohibitions.” In October 2006, the commission voted on the matter and declared that the group must register as a political action committee.

The Unity08 presidential ticket was to consist of two candidates that come from different political parties. This bipartisan team was to propose a bipartisan cabinet in an effort to end paralysis in government. Co-founder Doug Bailey explained “What we are trying to do is to create a forum for people who are in the middle who have been left out of politics.”

Liberal bloggers also expressed frustration with Unity08 because they contend that the group promoted “establishment” centrist or center-right politicians in the molds of Joe Lieberman and Michael Bloomberg while at the same time doing little to promote the progressive values it would seemingly represent. Chris Bowers of the political blog MyDD called the group’s supporters “rich, center-right, ‘non-partisan‘ donors who trash progressives and never criticize conservatives in power,” and claimed that the movement has no grassroots support. Other bloggers also criticized the heavy representation of lobbyists among the organization’s officers.
It failed….why? Lack of funds for most people saw it for what it was a political scam.

On Saturday, data shared by The Kobeissi Letter highlights a stark divergence in wealth growth since 1976.
According to the post on X, the real wealth of the top 0.001% of U.S. households has surged roughly 3,500% over that period.
By comparison, the top 0.01% and 0.1% saw gains of about 2,200% and 1,200%, respectively, while the average household’s wealth increased by just 200%.
The post also noted a sharp rise in ultra-wealthy households, estimating that about 430,000 U.S. households now hold at least $30 million in net worth, including roughly 74,000 worth more than $100 million.
A large share of wealth at the top is tied to financial markets. “~72% of wealth for the top 0.1% is concentrated in corporate equities, mutual funds, and private businesses,” the post said.
In contrast, lower-income households have struggled to build wealth.
“The bottom 50% of US households had more debt than assets for nearly 2 decades,” the post stated, adding that their net worth turned positive only after 2020, aided by stimulus checks and rising home values.
Summing up the trend, the post concluded: “Asset owners are the only winners.”

Clinton: “The country will survive as much by the process, by the freedom to speak, the freedom to vote, the freedom to be active in politics as by any particular issue,” said No. 42. “And because it’s like it is, compromise is essential.”

There are many reports telling us what is happening with the politics around these elections….but sadly everything being said/ewwritten has all been so before….
First the voters attitudes…..
According to a recent study from the University of Notre Dame, voters who are comfortable living in the middle—neither agreeing nor disagreeing when asked about substantive issues relevant to upholding democracy—might be the largest group to blame for democratic decline in the United States.
These “democratic neutrals” are what the study’s co-authors consider some of the most dangerous voters in the current political environment.
Using three surveys of more than 45,000 voting-age Americans, the researchers found that about half of the U.S. population expresses an attitude of democratic neutrality—or an “unwillingness to support or oppose policies or practices that undermine democracy,” explained Matthew E.K. Hall, lead author of the study recently published in the journal Nature Human Behaviour.
“Neutrality towards democracy, rather than outright opposition, has enabled democratic backsliding among various Western democracies as elected officials leverage citizens’ neutral attitudes to pursue antidemocratic outcomes,” Hall and his two co-authors wrote in their study.
Basically it is a wait and see attitude…..and this type of thinking is what put us in the position we find ourselves today….this whole neutrality thing is total BS.
Because of this laziness we may miss the opportunity for change….
We have a leader who does nothing but expand a war department, make his friends richer and destroy what little democracy we have left.
And when we do change leadership at the top we get very little in return….the rich get richer, the masses suffer and corporations still write the laws….what part of that is change?

My state as well as many others are in this frenzy to keep voter fraud to a minimum….voters are having to jump through hoops to vote…..basically some of the measures are nothing more than a poll tax and a way to keep the vote to mostly white people….exclusion is the main objective.

President Trump is trying to put a tighter federal grip on how Americans vote by mail—and the fight is likely headed straight to court. On Tuesday, he signed an executive order aimed at limiting who can receive mail-in ballots, arguing it will curb what he called “legendary” cheating in absentee voting ahead of November’s midterms, when control of Congress is at stake, Politico reports.
“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary. It’s horrible, what’s gone on,” Trump said during the signing ceremony in the Oval Office. The AP notes, however, that a 2025 Brookings Institution report found that voting fraud occurred in only around four cases per 10 million mail ballots— 0.000043% of total mail ballots cast.
The order directs the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to compile a federal list of approved absentee voters. The Postal Service would be instructed to send mail-in ballots only to people on that list. It also directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate and prosecute “election officials, individuals, and other entities that violate the law by issuing or distributing Federal ballots to ineligible voters,” CNBC reports. The order threatens to cut federal funds from states that refuse to comply.
The move is expected to face legal challenges that could drag on past the midterms. Marc Elias, a leading Democratic voting-rights attorney, said he plans to sue, calling the order unconstitutional. “If Trump signs an unconstitutional Executive Order to take over voting, we will sue. I don’t bluff and I usually win,” Elias wrote on X. Officials in Oregon and Arizona also pledged to sue, accusing Trump of trying to violate their states’ right to run elections, the AP reports. “We don’t need decrees from Washington, DC,” said Tobias Read, the Democratic secretary of state in Oregon, which has voted entirely by mail since 1998. “My message to the President: We’ll see you in court.”

With the Senate taking up the GOP voter suppression bill that is Donald Trump’s top legislative priority, we thought it would be good to take a closer look at the reason why Republicans claim that this legislation is needed: the supposed scourge of noncitizens voting.
People familiar with the debate know that it isn’t much of a problem at all. That’s because it is illegal for non-Americans to vote in federal elections, and since the upside of doing so, i.e., casting one additional ballot among tens of millions of others, stands in no relation to the downside, i.e., imprisonment and deportation, hardly anybody does it.
How rare is it that somebody commits this most pointless of crimes?

Including the 2000 presidential election, which is a great reference point not only because it’s a quarter century in the past but also because it was decided by 537 votes* and therefore any small factor could have made a huge difference, Americans have cast about 1.5 billion ballots in federal elections.
According to the conservative Heritage Foundation, aka “the Project 2025 guys,” aka “a bunch of guys who support voter suppression and are therefore really intent on finding evidence that noncitizens voting is a widespread problem,” exactly 100 aliens have been caught committing voter fraud.
In other words, according to these numbers, one noncitizen is caught trying to vote illegally for every 15,000,000 votes cast.
Or, to put it differently, if you wanted to randomly pick out a non-American at a polling place, you’d have a 1 in 15 million chance to be successful.
If you believe the wizards of propaganda we have a problem…..but it you look at the big picture then there is NO problem.
The problem we do have is that pundits are gaming the numbers to enact all sorts of silly and wasteful measures to limit who gets to have a vote in our elections.
In essence this is theft of an election….there is your fraud.
2026 is an election year and of course there is much talk about the possibility of a Blue Wave and the hope for a change in direction for this country.

Reports are coming out the that the young are not satisfied with the GOP or the Dems and are identifying themselves as independents….
More Americans than ever are stepping away from the two-party labels. A new Gallup survey finds that 45% of US adults identified as political independents in 2025, the highest share in more than three decades of telephone polling and up from 43% in recent peak years. Just 27% of adults called themselves Democrats and 27% Republicans. The shift is driven largely by younger Americans: Majorities of Gen Z and millennials, and more than four in 10 Gen Xers, now claim the independent label, compared with about a third or less of baby boomers and older adults. A big factor in recent swings is tied to unhappiness with whatever party is in power, which the AP notes may bode well for Democrats in the midterms.
All these independents, however, are not precisely in the political middle. When asked which party they lean toward, 20% of all adults were independents who favored Democrats, 15% leaned Republican, and 10% did not lean either way.
Combining party identifiers and leaners, Democrats held a 47% to 42% edge over Republicans in 2025, reversing a three-year period of GOP advantage and returning to a pattern last seen in President Trump’s first term. The Democratic edge widened over the course of the year, from parity with Republicans in early 2025 to an eight-point lead by year’s end.
On ideology, conservatives still outnumber liberals. Thirty-five percent of Americans described themselves as conservative or very conservative, 28% as liberal or very liberal, and 33% as moderate. However, the conservative lead over liberals—seven points—is the smallest margin going back to 1992. The biggest ideological shift has come inside the Democratic Party, where 59% now identify as liberal, up from 25% in 1994.

President Donald Trump has called on the federal government to “nationalize the voting” across the United States, baselessly claiming that major cities in swing states are conducting fraudulent elections. But one expert who Trump once hired to find proof of voter fraud says it’s almost nonexistent.
“The Trump campaign in 2020 hired me to look for evidence of voter fraud. And they asked me to review about 20 different claims of voter fraud that came into the campaign from everywhere around the world,” Block said. “Apparently, every one of the 20 claims they asked me to evaluate, I was able to show that they were false. And we did find small amounts of voter fraud, but never did we find enough voter fraud to have been able to change the outcome of any of the swing state elections in 2020.”
Block went on to say that despite Trump’s insistence that there was election fraud in Georgia in 2020, no evidence has ever surfaced proving him correct. He reminded viewers that some Trump associates – like former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani — were never able to substantiate any of their claims in court when asked to prove supposed fraud in the Peach State.
Since the election of the Orange Man from Florida the DNC has been struggling with their message…..is it possible they could find it before the next election?

The article describes incidents such as lawmakers physically struggling to navigate the Capitol or missing votes due to illness, but then running again anyway. One former member tells of an older colleague who, when asked why he doesn’t retire, simply asked, “Well, what would I do?” The power struggle is playing out in races across the country.
In Maine, 77-year-old Gov. Janet Mills, hopes to become the oldest freshman ever elected to the Senate in her primary campaign against 41-year-old oyster farmer Graham Platner. In Massachusetts, Seth Moulton, 47, is challenging Sen. Ed Markey, 79, while in New York City, 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani ran against and defeated 67-year-old Andrew Cuomo and 71-year-old Curtis Sliwa for mayor. While some of the older Democrats are stepping aside—for example, ex-New Hampshire Rep. Annie Kuster and Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith—many aren’t. And some, like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, are seen as actively working to keep younger candidates from gaining power. “While the olds may think they are saving us by sticking around, what they are often doing is denying the future itself just when Americans most keenly long to be reminded that there is one ahead of us,” Traister writes.
So new ideas are in short supply.

This time analysts are saying that the Dems, who have been struggling with messaging, have found the hook they need…..and that message is economics.
Democrats say: “They’re spineless,” Cathia Krehbiel, 48, of Indianola, Iowa, said of her party’s leaders. “I just feel like there’s so much recently that’s just going abhorrently wrong. And they speak up a little bit and they roll right over.” Overall, roughly one-third of Democrats described their party negatively in the open-ended question. About 15% described it using words like weak, or apathetic, while an additional 10% believe it is broadly ineffective or disorganized. Only about 2 in 10 Democrats described their party positively, with roughly 1 in 10 saying it is empathetic or inclusive. An additional 1 in 10 used more general positive descriptors. Jim Williams, a 78-year-old retiree from Harper Woods, Michigan said he typically supports Democrats but is disappointed with the party and its murky message. He feels much worse about the Republican Party, which he said “has lost it” under Trump’s leadership. “All he does is bully and call names. They’ve got no morals, no ethics. And the more they back him, the less I like them,” the self-described independent, said of Trump.
Trump was furious. “In just 6 months, I cut costs, especially Energy and Taxes, Tremendously. Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren, on CNBC, said costs have gone up,” he wrote on Truth Social, using his long-standing offensive nickname for the senator. “She is just angry that I blew up her terrible Presidential Campaign. Call her out!!!”
Trump’s wrong. Prices are going up on just about everything. “Government data, including from the Commerce Department this week, show that prices rose in June on items heavily exposed to tariffs, such as home furnishings, toys and appliances,” The New York Timesreported over the weekend. That’s Trump’s Commerce Department. He may be trying to cook the books in other areas—notably by firing the federal official tasked with collecting (recently disappointing) jobs data—but he can’t hide the fact that the economy is getting worse.
In the coming 2026 midterms and the economy the way it is there should be an open door for a Dem win…..but is it?
The 2026 midterm elections should, by all rights, be good for Democrats.
That’s because midterms are almost always good for the party that doesn’t hold the presidency; that party has gained House seats in all but four midterms since the Civil War.
However, there is a sizeable “but” that comes along with that right now.
It’s looking like Democrats could squander at least some of that opportunity, if they don’t do something about their brand, which is historically awful right now.
That doesn’t mean they’ll lose the midterms. But it could mean they won’t take full advantage and grow their numbers as much as they could.
Me? I think if anybody can find a way to lose then the Dems are that entity….their messaging for decades has been sub-par for decades….a lot can happen between now and the election and if a way can be found then the Dems will have their asses handed to them…..yet again.
Why?
Well the top Dem senator candidates are just a repeat of the past….old farts with heavy corporate ties….so much for looking for new blood.
That is why Dems are running scared because of the rise of the Progressives…..
