Is Trump The Unifier?

Wait!  Wait!

Before you bust out into side splitting laughter I am not talking about what he is doing in this country which could NEVER be misidentified as unity but rather what is happening in Europe.

No my friends I have not partaken in the mushroom thing or hit the Irish whisky a bit too hard today.

As countries across the globe rewrite their trade rule books following the uncertainty posed by US tariffs, a new strategic report predicts that US President Donald Trump’s policies are just the medicine that the European Union needs to become a true single market, fuelling growth, productivity, and profits over the long term.

Although Europe won’t avoid a recession, coordinated fiscal support, likely monetary policy easing from the European Central Bank (ECB), and a renewed integration push “will soften the blow and boost long-term growth”. That’s according to a report by investment research company BCA, called ‘Trump The Unifier’.

“Ironically, Trump is doing more to advance European unity than anyone since Schumann, Monnet, and Adenauer,” Mathieu Savary, BCA’s Chief European Strategist, noted.

Despite the temporary 90-day pause on the 20% tariffs hitting EU goods exports to the US, BCA said a recession is definitely on the cards.

According to the report, the eurozone economy is plagued with uncertainty, weakening business confidence and deteriorating capital expenditure. These challenges arrive at a time when the region is already struggling, with GDP only growing a modest 0.1% in the final three months of 2024.

Tariffs and uncertainty are expected to push an already fragile economy into contraction for at least for two consecutive quarters around mid-2025.

The European Commission estimated tariffs could wipe out 0.2% of eurozone GDP by 2027. In a more severe scenario, if tariffs are permanent or if there are sustained countermeasures, this hit count amount to 0.5%-0.6% in three years’ time.

Could Trump and his moronic economic games be a godsend to Europe and the hope of some unity?

Europe is at a crossroads: suffer continued decline, which Draghi labels “a slow agony,” or regain its former status as a global power. One of the biggest obstacles will be to convince the different member states, including their publics, to take on the challenge. Draghi and others advocate for increasing the EU budget to prioritize large-scale investment projects such as digitization and issuing “common assets” bonds. However, countries like France, which has always seen the EU budget support for agriculture as untouchable, as well as Germany and the Netherlands, which are wary of taking on more EU debt, could be against both of these ideas.

European publics could be even more intractable when it comes to making the sacrifices required to reignite the continent’s economy. France’s much-needed pension reform has been so unpopular that it has effectively disabled the Macron presidency. Across Europe, as in the United States, the popularity of right-wing and populist anti-EU parties is growing. In France’s parliamentary elections, France’s far-right Rassemblement National (RN) won almost double the number of votes gained by Macron’s centrist National Renaissance party. In Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz “saw his Social Democratic Party forced into third place behind the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a far-right party. Overall, right-leaning parties in Germany took more than 45 percent of the vote.” More recently, Germany’s far-right AfD claimed its biggest electoral success since World War II, winning a regional vote in Thuringia and coming second in Saxony, two eastern German states. More years of slow growth and belt-tightening could increase public support for anti-EU populism.

Could Trump Be Good for Europe?

I hope Europe finds a way to use the Trump stupidity against him and locate the unity they truly deserve.

I would like to hear from my readers in Europe about this possibility.

Is US Running Out Of White People?

I recently read a fascinating article about the population changes coming….this story could send shivers up the spines of all those that hate diversity…..plus my favorite subject, a little history, thrown in….

Demographers project that whites will become a minority in the U.S. around 2045, dropping below 50% of the population. Between 2010 and 2018, the number of white children fell by 2.8 million, or 7.1%. In contrast, nonwhite children grew by 6.1%.

In 2018, the last year for which data are currently available, the proportion of people in the U.S. under 18 years of age was just barely more white than nonwhite. However, children under 11 were more nonwhite than white.

In almost one-third of U.S. states, nonwhite children outnumber all white children under 18 in 14 states — including Nevada, Hawaii, Georgia and Maryland — plus the District of Columbia. The link I tried to provide to document this led to factfinder.census.gov, which is currently unreachable. Is it too much of a conspiracy theory to think it’s among the thousands of government sites Elon Musk and DOGE don’t want you to see?

Not enough white people isn’t a new problem in America. When Europeans supposedly discovered America, there were already more people of color than Europeans. In 1526, a group of enslaved Black people escaped their Spanish captors during the San Miguel de Gualdape Slave Rebellion. They mixed with Native Americans in what is now South Carolina and Georgia. In 1565, Spaniards (not exactly white) brought slaves to Saint Augustine. In 1619, a British ship landed in Jamestown with enslaved people.

Though the indigenous population took a hit from the diseases carried by Europeans, including smallpox, they easily outnumbered white people when America was founded. The Black population drastically increased, not only from the Transatlantic Slave Trade but by a systemic pattern of forced breeding to meet the demand for labor. When the international slave trade was ended in 1808, it was because a sufficient number of Black babies were being born to meet the needs. The means to the end often involved rape and forced pairings. Thomas Jefferson didn’t need to explain that to George Washington when he wrote to tell him that if each enslaved woman had a child every two years, he would see profits increase by 4% annually.

By the time America achieved independence from the British in 1776, several areas including some states like South Carolina had a majority Black population, mainly enslaved people. Before there were police forces, there were slave patrols to capture runaways and protect plantation owners from revolts. There was a fear of rebellion throughout American history, before and after slavery. Jefferson talked about having a “wolf by the ears.” Lincoln wished to deport the freed slaves to Liberia and Central America. Heexperimented with deportation on Cow Island near Haiti, which had disastrous results.

Is news like this driving the GOP and especially Little Donny in its push to re-write history?

I think diversity is what makes this country great, well great before the magic Sharpie.

Trying to change the outcome of history is a fool’s errand…..but look who we voted into office….one of America’s biggest fools.

US Will Decide On Ukraine Peace

More frightening news out of Little Marco’s State Department…..concerning any peace deal between Ukraine and Russia….

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that President Donald Trump will decide if ending the war in Ukraine is possible sometime in the coming days.

“We’re not going to continue with this endeavor for weeks and months on end. So we need to determine very quickly now, and I’m talking about a matter of days, whether or not this is doable in the next few weeks,” Rubio told reporters in Paris.

President Trump made ending the war in Ukraine one of his top campaign promises. Since taking office in January, his staff has engaged in several rounds of high-level talks with Russian and Ukrainian officials.

“The president feels very strongly about that. He has dedicated a lot of time and energy to this… this is important, but there are a lot of other really important things going on that deserve just as much, if not more attention,” Rubio said.

Trump and Rubio have stated that Russia is not engaging quickly enough in the diplomatic process. The president and secretary of state have both threatened new sanctions on Russia in recent weeks if the Kremlin does not agree to a deal to end the conflict very soon.

Moscow appears to be unwilling to accelerate the pace of talks on ending the war in Ukraine. Earlier this week, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the issue was “so complex that it’s unrealistic to expect immediate results.”

Following the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, US-Russian relations sank to a historic low point, with almost no contact between Washington and Russia during that period. Early rounds of talks between US and Russian officials focused on returning to a normal diplomatic relationship.

While Trump and Rubio have placed blame on Moscow for the lack of progress towards a peace deal, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly declared that Kiev would not surrender any territory to bring the war to an end.

Additionally, Kiev is moving closer to signing a deal to allow Washington to recapture some of the money spent on Ukraine aid by seizing profits from sales of oil, gas and rare earth minerals. A top Ukrainian official said a memorandum of intent was signed on Thursday, and the deal is expected to be inked next week.

It’s unclear if the arrangement includes security guarantees for Ukraine, but Rubio told reporters the issue came up during his talks in Paris.

The US will decide?  The war is between Ukraine and Russia the US has NO right to determine what or when the war will end….that is for the two combatants to decide all the US should be doing is offering any assistance they may need to come to a peaceful conclusion of their hostilities.

If Zelenskyy (why two ‘yy’ s?) had any balls he would tell the US to sit and stay out of the process.

But he owes too much to the West for him to assert himself like that.

So there you have it….the US decides who and when they will fight.

Kinda pathetic in my book.

Then there is a report that Putin may be willing to halt the invasion….

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was willing to halt his invasion of Ukraine across the current frontlines to reach a peace deal with President Trump.

If true, the position would mark a significant concession from Russia, which has maintained that any peace deal must include the recognition of the four Ukrainian Oblasts it has annexed as part of Russia, including territory that’s not under Russian control.

The Financial Times report said that Putin made the offer during recent talks with President Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, in St. Petersburg earlier this month. After the meeting, Witkoff said he believed a peace deal was possible.

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that the US has made a proposal to Ukraine and its European allies on a potential ceasefire deal that would involve freezing the battle lines and the US recognizing Crimea as part of Russia. The peninsula has been under Russian control since 2014.

European and Ukrainian officials are expected to meet and discuss the US proposal on Wednesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that Ukraine would never recognize Crimea as Russian, signaling he may not support the US proposal.

Zelensky also said that he would be willing to negotiate directly with Russia if a ceasefire was reached. His comments came after Putin suggested he was ready for direct talks with the Ukrainians.

What back door promises are being made to Putin for this change of heart?

Is this something or is it just a delaying tactic?

What kind of deal did Putin and Trump come to?

Is the NATO thing the fire that made Putin perk up?

The Kremlin said on Monday that Moscow welcomed statements from US officials that ruled out Ukrainian entry into NATO.

“We have heard statements made at various levels in Washington that Ukraine’s NATO membership is ruled out. This is something that brings us satisfaction and aligns with our stance,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to TASS.

Several high-level Trump administration officials, including President Trump himself, have said that any peace deal to end the war in Ukraine would not involve Ukrainian membership in NATO.

Russia sought a guarantee from the US that Ukraine wouldn’t join NATO before it launched its invasion in February 2022, but the Biden administration refused to engage with Moscow on the issue. During short-lived peace talks in March and April of 2022, which were discouraged by the US, Russia’s main demand was for Ukrainian neutrality.
