Do You Feel Powerless?

All the programs and slashes and lay-offs some American are feeling like they are powerless against this onslaught on our society.

But I think that is what Donny and his gang of thugs want…..an American people that is powerless.

It is understandable to be worn down by the torrential downpour of Trump’s unique brand of dumbfuck fascism, but the way a lot of the press and public treats Trump’s executive orders functionally helps Trump by assuming he has more power than he does. Executive orders (EOs) are not laws. Just because Trump releases what amounts to an extra-long Truth Social post does not mean it is the law of the land, and assuming it is does Trump’s work for him.

Trump cannot unilaterally say that public sector unions are illegal the way he functionally did in his EO last night, and the AFL-CIO has said they will fight it. Article II of the Constitution states that it is the president’s job to ensure “the laws be faithfully executed,” and that’s what executive orders are at their core. They are a directive from the president to the civil servants working for them to follow (their interpretation of) existing laws, but they are not legally binding the way that the president signing a bill from Congress to enact a new law is. We should be fearful of Trump just openly declaring his intention to resegregate America in these executive orders, but treating them as the law of the land the moment he posts them is exactly what Trump wants us to do.

I understand that this is trending towards “but a dog can’t play basketball” territory, but I am dismayed by how many people who oppose Trump are taking him at his word that he is King. That assumption leads you to the opposite of resisting fascism and functionally you are supporting it. Jason Stanley, a Yale professor who studies fascism, said he is moving to Canada because he thinks America is about to become a fascist dictatorship. We are living in a fascist dictatorship. Masked thugs of the state are disappearing people off the streets for thought crimes. Congress has given all of its power over to co-dictators Trump and Elon Musk who are now publicly threatening judges who adhere to the constitution more than Trumpism. Fascism is here. Right now.

Some still think that they are safe….but are they?

Americans need to grow a pair and stand up for what this country is about and has always been about….until the current people came to hate our society and want to destroy it.

Are Dems In Trouble?

Recently Schumer helped the GOP put forward their archaic spending bill and the Dems in Congress were not happy even to the point of some calling do-nothing Schumer to resign….

Calls for U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to resign from his leadership post escalated on Friday after the New Yorker led nine other members of the Democratic caucus in helping Republicans advance a GOP stopgap funding bill to a final vote.

Those who stood with Schumer and Republicans for the 62-38 procedural vote—which required at least yes 60 votes—are Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine as well as Democratic Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Dick Durbin (Ill.), John Fetterman (Pa.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Gary Peters (Mich.), Brian Schatz (Hawaii), and Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.).

The Democrats agreed to invoke cloture on the continuing resolution (CR) in exchange for considering four amendments to it. Republican senators then swiftly rejected Sen. Jeff Merkley’s (D-Ore.) amendment to restore Internal Revenue Service funding, Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s (D-Ill.) amendment to rehire fired military veteran federal employees, and Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s (D-Md.) amendment to eliminate DOGE.

A bipartisan majority also defeated Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) amendment to codify DOGE cuts to United States Agency for International Development and foreign aid into law. Senators then passed the stopgap bill, H.R. 1968; the 54-46 vote was mostly along party lines, with Shaheen and King voting yes, and Paul voting no. President Donald Trump is expected to sign it.

Schumer seems content with the status quo regardless of what us peons want…..after all what does he have to lose?

The Dem loyal are getting fed-up with the dolts we put in Congress to help protect us from the ravages of the GOP….so far they are failing and few happy….

A large majority of registered Democrats and Independent voters who lean Democratic are frustrated with the party, see no clear leader of it, and want to see elected officials fight harder for working people and against Republican President Donald Trump, according to a pair of polls released Friday.

“Democratic voters are sending a clear message: They want leaders who will fight Trump and put working people first,” said Danielle Deiseroth, executive director of Data for Progress, the progressive think tank behind the surveys. “The base is tired of weak opposition and business-as-usual politics.”

“This level of discontent is unsustainable for a party looking to build back in the wake of major losses—at a certain point, Democratic leaders will need to show voters that they are taking a stronger stance against Trump, or step aside for someone who will,” Deiseroth added.

Just how serious are the voters?

There is an election next year and will the Dem loyal do the right thing or will we keep sending lay-abouts to the House?

Then there is the coward of the Party who is on-board with these tariffs….

Congressman Jaren Golden occupies an unusual place on Capitol Hill: He is a Democrat who supports President Trump’s tariffs. “My biggest worry is that they’re going to do this and lose faith and political will and back away,” he tells Axios, adding that he would vote no on a pending House measure to try to kill the tariffs. In an interview with the Portland Press Herald in Maine, Rep. Golden defended tariffs as a tool to revive manufacturing in his state, even if they do cause short-term pain. “I have a lot of confidence that I have a lot of constituents that understand this trade-off,” he tells the newspaper.

The Hill describes Golden as a moderate who has been known to buck his party, including last month when he voted in favor of a Republican bill to avert a shutdown, thus becoming the only House Democrat to do so. On tariffs, Golden has introduced his own measure to impose a 10% across-the-board tariff on imports. Trump did that and more, though Golden is not going to criticize. “I’m not ready to say that he overshot with this,” Golden said. “I’m not ready to say that 20% or 25% is too aggressive compared to some of the practices that we have faced from places like China.” He also shrugged off the stock market turmoil, telling Axios that “the vast majority of Americans have no stocks.”

Moderate my ass!  He proves just how little some Dems care about the working class.  He is an idiot.

Schumer will face the party….Will the vote bee like normal…lots of harsh words and little action?

New Drone Strikes?

For the past decade drone strikes have been a way for the US to assert its dominance over the rest of the world by using drones to do their dirty work….Yemen, Syria, Somalia, etc….and now the Trump Administration is considering a new target….No it is not Iran (for now)….

They are considering using drones against Mexican cartels.

The Trump administration is considering launching drone strikes against cartels in Mexico in an effort to stem the flow of fentanyl and other drugs through the southern border, NBC News reported on Tuesday.

The report, which cited multiple former and current US officials, said the discussions were still in the early stages, but the administration has taken steps toward taking military action against cartels, including designating them as “terrorist organizations” and stepping up CIA drone flights over Mexico.

The report said that the Trump administration would prefer to launch drone strikes against cartels in cooperation with the Mexican government but is not ruling out launching unilateral military action, which would significantly rupture US-Mexico relations.

In response to the report, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected the idea of any unilateral US action. “We reject any form of intervention or interference. That’s been very clear, Mexico coordinates and collaborates, but does not subordinate itself. There is no interference, nor will there be,” Sheinbaum said.

The Mexican leader added, “While this idea hasn’t been formally proposed, we’ve made it clear that it wouldn’t address the root of the issue. What truly works is ongoing attention to root causes, arrests driven by intelligence and investigation, coordination, and zero tolerance for impunity. We categorically reject any such actions, and we don’t believe they will happen. There is a strong, ongoing dialogue on security and many other matters.”

The Wall Street Journal reported in February that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth had threatened Mexican military officials that the US could take unilateral military action in Mexico. The report said Hegseth threatened action “if Mexico didn’t deal with the collusion between the country’s government and drug cartels.”

While the Trump administration wants to reduce the flow of fentanyl, opponents of turning the drug war into a hot war have warned it’s unlikely to have that effect. Daniel DePetris, a fellow at Defense Priorities, pointed out in a post on X that if the demand for fentanyl still exists in the US, then cartels or other criminal organizations would still be willing to manufacture the drug and smuggle it across the US border.

“If demand for the drug is still high, the cartels—or independent criminal syndicates—will have a financial incentive to continue manufacturing, even if it comes at the risk of death (these guys are already risking death by being in a cartel). There is a lot of money to be made,” DePetris said.

Military action against the cartels also comes with a risk of bringing a hot war to US territory since the organizations are known to have a presence inside the US and also possess advanced weapons that could even be fired across the US-Mexico border.

Let’s be honest drone strikes have killed more civilians than bad guys….so is using them against Mexico a good idea?

I guess in some warped thinking it would be better for the use of drones than a once consider using the US military in an invasion type operation.

But this idea like the use of military personnel should be scrapped.
