The Art Of Brainwashing

Last weekend I watched one of my favorite movies, The Manchurian Candidate (the original, not the sloppy re-make) and it got me thinking about a subject that we do not hear much about these days, brainwashing.

The story is some captured Americans in Korea were whisked off and were brainwashed to carry out a mission that they would under normal conditions would have never considered.

The Soviets and Red Chinese were the culprits in the movie but the technique was not unknown in the US.

Journalist Edward Hunter was the first to sound the alarm. “Brain-washing Tactics Force Chinese Into Ranks of Communist Party,” blared his headline in the Miami Daily News in September 1950. In the article, and later in a book, Hunter described how Mao Zedong’s Red Army used terrifying ancient techniques to turn the Chinese people into mindless, Communist automatons. He called this hypnotic process “brainwashing,” a word-for-word translation from xi-nao, the Mandarin words for wash (xi) and brain (nao), and warned about the dangerous applications it could have. The process was meant to “change a mind radically so that its owner becomes a living puppet—a human robot—without the atrocity being visible from the outside.”

It wasn’t the first time fears of Communism and mind control had seeped into the American public. In 1946 the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was so worried about the spread of Communism that it proposed removing liberals, socialists and communists from places like schools, libraries, newspapers and entertainment. Hunter’s inflammatory rhetoric didn’t immediately have a huge impact—until three years into the Korean War, when American prisoners of war began confessing to outlandish crimes.

When he was shot down over Korea and captured in 1952, Colonel Frank Schwable was the highest ranking military officer to meet that fate, and by February 1953, he and other prisoners of war had falsely confessed to using germ warfare against the Koreans, dropping everything from anthrax to the plague on unsuspecting civilians. The American public was shocked, and grew even more so when 5,000 of the 7,200 POWs either petitioned the U.S. government to end the war, or signed confessions of their alleged crimes. The final blow came when 21 American soldiers refused repatriation.

Suddenly the threat of brainwashing was very real, and it was everywhere. The U.S. military denied the charges made in the soldiers’ “confessions,” but couldn’t explain how they’d been coerced to make them. What could explain the behavior of the soldiers besides brainwashing? The idea of mind control flourished in pop culture, with movies like Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Manchurian Candidate showing people whose minds were wiped and controlled by outside forces. FBI director J. Edgar Hoover referred to thought-control repeatedly in his book Masters of Deceit: The Story of Communism in America and How to Fight It. By 1980 even the American Psychiatric Association had given it credence, including brainwashing under “dissociative disorders” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-III. Had Chinese and Soviet Communists really uncovered a machine or method to rewrite men’s minds and supplant their free will?

This is important to know because right now much of the ugly side of government is being deleted or altered….so some of this ugliness may disappear forever (if Trump has anything to do with it)

We need to know the lengths the government would have gone to to try and off-set any possible interference by foreign nations.

And The Game Continues

Here we go again….playing with people’s lives….again.

Our dear Clueless Leader is playing a horrible game of tariffs, pauses and exemptions….all in the name of his buddies making billions upon billions off of stock manipulations.

Lately the markets were sluggish so Donny pauses the auto tariffs for now….give the robber barons time enough for some transactions and the making of billions.

President Trump suggested Monday that he might temporarily exempt the auto industry from tariffs he previously imposed on the sector to give carmakers time to adjust their supply chains. “I’m looking at something to help some of the car companies with it,” Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office. He said automakers needed time to relocate production from Canada, Mexico, and other places. “And they need a little bit of time because they’re going to make them here, but they need a little bit of time. So I’m talking about things like that.”

  • The statement hinted at yet another round of reversals on tariffs as Trump’s onslaught of import taxes has panicked financial markets and raised deep concerns from Wall Street economists about a possible recession, the AP reports.
  • When Trump announced the 25% auto tariffs on March 27, he described them as “permanent.” His hard lines on trade, however, have become increasingly blurred as he has sought to limit the possible economic and political blowback from his policies. “I don’t change my mind, but I’m flexible,” he said Monday.
  • Detroit’s Big Three automakers have been lobbying the White House for weeks to have some low-cost car parts excluded from tariffs, Bloomberg reports. Ford, GM, and Stellantis have told the administration they are willing to pay tariffs on imports of finished vehicles and large parts like engines, but import taxes on other parts would drive up costs by billions of dollars and lead to layoffs.
  • Stocks in the Big Three jumped after Trump’s remarks, the AP reports. General Motors rose 3.6%, Ford rose 4.1%, and Stellantis rose 5.1%. The companies have complex supply chains and production processes that cross borders several times within North America.
  • he tariffs on finished vehicles took effect April 3, with tariffs on parts expected May 3. Officials in Canada say that since some parts go back and forth across the border multiple times, the Trump administration hasn’t figured out a formula for the parts tariffs yet, Global News reports.

Seriously?

The “stable genius” is playing an infantile game and making extra cash for the rich sycophants…..if it is so good then how much did you make off these games?

When all this silliness is gone can the economic outlook be repaired?

Watching the wild lines of the S&P 500, U.S. Treasury bond yields, and various foreign markets is how I’ve spent most of the past week. This felt familiar; I’d spent much of 2017 doing the same, following the vagaries of the first Trump administration and tracking the markets’ reactions like a nurse checking a patient’s heart rate.

But despite that familiarity, this isn’t the same as last time. I actually wish it were. This time, there’s no coming back from this quickly. Whoever is elected the 48th president won’t be able to easily rebuild what Donald Trump is busy destroying. Countries can and will move on without the United States. Their firms will establish new supply chains and pursue other markets. Even if the U.S. were the ultra-dominant trading partner it used to be, the credibility of the nation’s promises, its treaties, its agreements, and even its basic rationality has evaporated in just weeks.

The Us after this debacle of ignorance may never be the economic anchor of the world that it has enjoyed for so many decades.

And we owe it all to the idiot  Donny and his minions of doom that he lets run the country and the economy.

This Panama Thing Is Getting Out Of Hand

Well to be honest a lot of the policies of the brain dead prez and his amateurish morons that do his bidding is getting out of hand…..but Panama is really a fool’s errand.

Trump has been fixated on the Canal Zone for awhile now….

He has made some claims….

The mention of Panama in his inaugural speech is not the first time he has focused on the Central American nation and its transoceanic canal.

On Christmas Day, Trump posted on social media that the “wonderful soldiers of China” were “lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal” – a claim which was swiftly denied by officials in Panama City and Beijing.

At the time, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino described the claim as “nonsense”, stressing that there was “absolutely no Chinese interference” in the canal.

Trump has also threatened to take the canal back by force, citing “exorbitant” fees being allegedly charged for US vessels to pass through it – another claim rejected by Panamanian authorities.

Following Trump’s inauguration address, President Mulino again stressed that there was “no presence of any nation in the world that interferes with our administration” of the Panama Canal.

The strategic waterway, which handles about 5% of global maritime trade volume, is operated by the Panama Canal Authority, an agency of the Panamanian government, not Chinese soldiers.

With all the lies and BS the US is sending troops to the Canal Zone for ‘training’….but that excuse smells fishy.

Why?

There is a Chinese company, not state owned but by some billionaire, and if that is the excuse that Donny is using then maybe he should pay closer attention…

A Hong Kong-based company has agreed to sell most of its stake in two key ports on the Panama Canal to a group led by US investment firm BlackRock.

The sale comes after weeks of complaining by President Donald Trump that the canal is under Chinese control and that the US should take control of the major shipping route.

Through a subsidiary, CK Hutchison Holding operates ports at the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean entrances to the canal.

It said that it would sell its interests as part of a deal worth $22.8bn (£17.8bn).

K Hutchison, founded by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing, is not owned by the Chinese government. But its base in Hong Kong means it operates under Chinese financial laws. It has operated the ports since 1997.

The deal includes a total of 43 ports in 23 countries around the world, including the two canal terminals. It will require approval by the Panamanian government.

If this is truly the case and these ‘ports’ are controlled by American company why all the chest thumping?  Why the need for extra troops in Panama?  What is the point of these lies?

At what damn point do you people start paying attention to the lies spread by Little Donny and his band of morons?

This is pathetic…..since you do not pay attention you are letting this ignoramus get away with such crap.

For the sake of our nation please try to get off Instagram and paying a little attention to the manure spread.
