“He Is The Chosen One”

I try to stay away from posts on religion but from time to time I read something that makes me sick and just have pass it on to my readers.

I keep reading this Christian and that who say that Trump is somehow the “chosen one”…..even prominent politicians like Rick Perry….

President Trump took a ribbing over the summer when he referred to himself as the “chosen one.” Trump later called the remark sarcastic, but it appears Rick Perry disagrees. In an interview with Ed Henry of Fox News, the energy secretary said Trump was indeed “the chosen one,” reports the Hill. “God’s used imperfect people all through history,” he said. “King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect.” Perry said he gave Trump some information on those Old Testament figures during a conversation about a month ago. “I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one and I said, ‘You were.'”

Perry elaborated on the point: “I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.”

Or that anyone that opposes Trump is in league with demons…..

…pretty standard fare among Christian right opinion leaders and politicians. But at roughly the same time, we got an indication from two other prominent Trump fans that it’s not enough to endow this strange and heathenish figure of manifold wicked ways with the cloak of divine sanction; his critics must be cast in the same apocalyptic drama as instruments of demonic forces. Seriously. Veteran adviser to Republican presidents on matters moral and spiritual, Peter Wehner, scathingly writes it up for The Atlantic:

During his November 21 interview with [Franklin] Graham, [Eric] Metaxas, a Salem Radio Network talk-show host, asked the son of the late evangelist Billy Graham, “What do you think of what is happening now? I mean, it’s a very bizarre situation to be living in a country where some people seem to exist to undermine the president of the United States. It’s just a bizarre time for most Americans.”

Who but a demon would want to impeach Trump?  https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/opinions-who-but-a-demon-could-impeach-gods-chosen-one/ar-BBXkciD

Then there is the Trump supporter that answered a question like this….

“If Jesus Christ gets down off the cross and told me Trump is with Russia, I would tell him, ‘Hold on a second. I need to check with the President if it’s true.'”

But watch the video for yourself…

I am not a religious person by any stretch of the imagination…but I still cannot see how anyone that is a “Christian” could even think  along these lines…..

For me there is NO room for the religious readers in politics….they should stick to hell fire, brimstone saving souls or just singing….modern religion has proved that they are not the way to a better country for all its people.

I am leery of anyone labelled the “Chosen One”….it has been BS for centuries and probably the same today.

  1. I don’t know how to respond to that kind of thinking and those type of statements, except to say that I disagree. Appeals to logic are not helpful as this is beyond logic.

  2. This is one of the traits of authoritarianism. For the cult to bond together, it must unify around a singular leader or figurehead elevated to omnipotent status. Only then can its directives be carried out without dissent. The leader or figurehead becomes the supreme authority in all matters – relieving followers of the responsibility of exercising their own personal ethics, morals, and judgement. Obedience is maintained through the ideological doctrines, rituals, and loyalty oaths disseminated throughout the group. Captive audiences are held by the use of propaganda and the control of information. Fear is exploited to demonize outsiders (typically along ethnic lines) and contrary ideas. When external threats are perceived (both real and imagined), group solidarity is mobilized into aggression – often militarily.

Historical examples are numerous and obvious. It is always antithetical to democracy and the rule of law. Religion isn’t the cause, but it is the willing or unwitting pawn. In Nazi Germany, Hitler first embraced the Catholic Church and then later turned on it. You see, to the autocrat, no power can be higher than his own – not even a god.

  3. These aren’t Christians, these are cultists. And this type of blindered, fellating belief, will endorse any and every act by this POTUS to disregard the Constitution and the ideals that the Republic was founded upon.

  4. The Trump thing is indeed a cult of personality … just the same as the Obama thing, the G.W. Bush thing, the George Herbert W. Bush thing, the Truman thing … and all the other presidents …. all were cults of personality — that is why they get elected by majority numbers … more people vote for personality than for any other thing … this is the result of a lot of public relations work … advertising hype …. No president in this modern age is elected on abilities or experience because the Presidency has always been an on-the-job training exercise at best inasmuch as anyone who gets elected as President does not come to the job with any experience because the job itself is unique … unlike any other … and as far as being “The Chosen One” he absolutely was the “Chosen One” …. chosen by voters to be President …. not in a religious sense. But speaking of the religious sense … America (Often hyped as a Christian nation, built on Christian Principles … with “In God We Trust” on the money …. we definitely need a little Christianity in our government …So screw the secularists …. It is the secularists who have stripped God from the National Paradigm and thus set this country up for eventual annihilation. Yes, this is nothing more than my opinion … just like most everything written about politics is somebody’s opinion. (It’s an American thing.)

    1. The nation is indeed built on religious principles but Christ is not mentioned anywhere in the founding documents…..and screw sectarians. chuq

      1. Great observation, Chuq — but there mentions of God aren’t there and if it were not for God there would be no Christianity, right?

    2. Plus none of that has anything to do with proclaiming anyone the :Chosen One”…..he is NOT the 2nd coming and to pretend he is by justifying BS is just sad. chuq

      1. Your conclusion here is not relevant to people unless they do believe in the 2nd coming. Of course he is not the 2nd coming but he is the chosen one among the voters who elected him.

      2. In politics there is often nothing but confusion — as an example, “The impeachment farce.” Totally confused. LOL

  5. Cults all have the same attributes.

Trump is a cult leader with millions of cult followers..
