First Debate Approaches

26Jun19 will be the first Dem debate of the 2020 cycle…..and the DNC has set up conditions that must be met before the candidate would be allowed on the stage for the first debate…..so far out of the 20+ candidates only 13 have met the qualifications……

The first Democratic debates for the 2020 election take place June 26 and June 27 in Miami, with each night featuring 10 different candidates on stage, reports ABC News. The field is currently larger than 20, and the party will decide next week who makes the cut, based on polling and fundraising thresholds. An analysis by Politico puts 13 in the mix already, because they’ve met both thresholds: Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Beto O’Rourke, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Julian Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Jay Inslee, Marianne Williamson, and Andrew Yang.

After that, things get a little unclear. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Montana Gov. Steve Bullock isn’t on the already-in list, because both Politico and ABC had previously reported that he was. However, the Democratic National Committee announced Thursday that it would no longer use two ABC News/Washington Post polls—one of which had Bullock meeting the necessary threshold—in its reckoning. Others on the cusp (some have met either the fundraising or the polling threshold, but not both) include Bill de Blasio, John Delaney, Kirsten Gillibrand, John Hickenlooper, Tim Ryan, Eric Swalwell, Seth Moulton, and Wayne Messam. The DNC will resort to tiebreakers if more than 20 qualify.

I find it interesting that a couple of the more recognizable names have not made the cut….and this week is the deadline.

I am thrilled that my choice for a Dem candidate, Tulsi Gabbard, has made the cut and will appear in the debate….I am looking for her to be slighted in some way or another…..after all she is NOT mainstream.

I look for the ones that do not make the cut to cut and run (drop out) from the election….if they cannot make the debate stage they will most likely not be able to fund raise and that will drive some out of the race.

And yes, I will be watching the debate to see who is genuine and who is a fake…….I have my thoughts right now but I will wait to see if I am accurate….I will give them all a chance to impress me…..

Then after this debate and the DNC will play more games trying to rig who the candidates will be…….https://lobotero.com/2019/05/30/only-certain-dems-are-welcome/

  1. Good luck with those. Bad enough here, with all the contenders who want to take over from May as Prime Minister. I hate them all! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.
