Veterans March

As Veterans Day approaches our veterans need to come together and start demanding their rights and benefits….even if it means shutting down the DC machine.

I have given my readers an idea of how they could do this…..by taking a page from American history…..

America has a long history of crapping on their veterans…..and the society as a whole is not much better.

In case my post was too long and you would like to know about the Bonus army then a short video may help…..

This is what our veterans need……a demonstration that they will NOT be ignored any longer…as it is now they are nothing more than political props to be trotted out during campaigns and then pushed aside when no longer needed.

Begin with a MARCH!  But do not end there!

 

Veterans are numerous and with organization they can win their case with DC…..remember veterans have a proud history of demanding their rights and benefits…..granted the government over-reacted….but that is what you want….the more they act to more the news will focus on you and your problems and solutions…..just do it!

Time for Veterans to band together and demand the benefits and the entitlements they earned fighting senseless wars for politicians and oligarchs…..

It is also time for this country to be reminded of our veterans and all they do so others can stay home and snuggle with their loved ones…..Veterans deserve better than they get!

Not all heroes wear the uniform of war.

In the United States, however, we take particular pride in recognizing as heroes those who have served in the military.

Yet while we honor our veterans with holidays, parades, discounts at retail stores and restaurants, and endless political rhetoric about their sacrifice and bravery, we do a pitiful job of respecting their freedoms and caring for their needs once out of uniform.

Time for veterans to stop depending on elected officials that care more about the cash they can raise than the vets they can help….veterans need to depend on themselves like they do on combat…..no one knows better than the person next to you in the “trenches”…..

Saying “Thank You” does not feed their children or repair their bodies….time for all Veterans to strike a blow for their broken promises……DO IT NOW!

Once again we have gone from the 80+ range to the low 50s….we all hope for some moderation…..50s+ is perfect weather…cool enough for a light jacket and warm enough for the need for a heater does not exist…..Mo is loving the weather she spends her time chasing birds an squirrels…..damn!  I wish I had all that energy.

World War One ended 11 November 1918….and began America’s Grand Strategy……

On November 11, 1918, World War One, the Great War, ended. Amid the chaos that followed—revolution, the fall of empires, and rise of nations—the United States attempted to build a rules-based world which favored freedom. American power had won the war, and President Woodrow Wilson was trying to shape a peace along the lines of what we now call a rules-based or “liberal” world order. Wilson’s Fourteen Points, presented the previous January, challenged the imperial, balance-of-power system of the European powers (on both sides) which had started the war, and at the same time took on Lenin’s revolutionary alternative. Wilson’s ideas were a rough draft of American Grand Strategy in what has been called the American Century.

Originally, Veterans Day was called Armistice Day to celebrate the end of World War One……we should remember the day for what it was…..

Those of us of a certain age may remember that Veterans Day used to be called Armistice Day – the day the guns fell silent in war-torn Europe at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. The Great War, the Global War that we now call World War I, had reached a ceasefire. In the months and years that followed, the victorious allies would rearrange the boundaries of much of the globe, uprooting peoples and nations in a fragile peace that set the stage for World War II.

This year marks the centenary of the Armistice and a reminder that the old is ever new. In 1821, John Quincy Adams, Secretary of State and future president said our young republic would be the friend of liberty and independence everywhere, but the vindicator and champion only of our own. America, said Adams, “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy.” Otherwise, she might gain an empire and, in the process, lose her soul.
