Closing Thought–09May18

Pres. Trump has jumped on the problem the US us having with opioid abuse….Trump’s big deal is that he thinks people that push opioids should be put to death and abusers should be getting massive jail sentences……this, according to him, will alleviate our opioid problem…..

Seriously?  Is that all it will take?

Criminalization of drug use and possession has had almost no impact on actual levels of drug use. However, the criminalizing of drugs does practically ensure a cycle of criminality and greater prison sentences. As outlined in a January memo, Attorney General Jeff Sessions wants longer mandatory minimums despite their destructive impact on the United States. At this point, it’s evident that the War on Drugs is a frantic grasp for control in a broken system.

But enacting longer prison sentences does not help reduce the misuse or abuse of drugs. Instead, it worsens it. Thankfully, there are policy alternatives to the status quo. Legalizing drugs would allow us to focus on treating drug addiction and breaking the pattern of being labeled a “criminal.” If there is no victim, there is no crime—and that’s why the War on Drugs is a war on addicts.

As usual Trump has lots of opinions but little grasp of the causes and the effects……in other words he has NO idea about policy just of the mind that comes with the IQ of under 50.

  1. I think most people currently addicted initially got hooked by doctors. Those are your #1 gateway opium “pushers.”

Trump gonna start jailing doctors and shutting down hospitals? No… he’ll just focus in on minorities and the poor to fill the pockets of his base. This was a foregone advent – private prison operators were some of his biggest supporters during the campaign. He owes them big time. Owes them millions of cages filled with human beings at your expense and mine.

    1. The people who will be in those cages probably are the ones who need to be there. Better to have them in the cages than running loose on the streets to make other addicts out of our sons and daughters.

  2. Reagan started the war against drugs decades ago and as you can see it accomplished nothing at all except spending a few billion dollars … wasted dollars …. because the problem has never been defeated and has been getting worse with each passing year. We have lost that war on drugs and we should stop wasting time and effort on it. Dealers should never see the light of day again and users should get one chance to be treated and get themselves clean and straight or else be sent to something like a leper colony from which they can never escape to be able to corrupt others with their habits again.

    1. Actually it was Nixon…..over crowded prisons….don’t think that it is the answer….there will always be a drug problem…chuq

      1. Druggies are the very pits of the Human species and need to be permanently separated from any prospects of their polluting the rest of the social order with their filth.

      2. They are sick and I could be as a pit of humanity for I have to take drugs everyday damn day…like an addict I have no choice chuq

      3. There is a big difference between people who are forced to depend on their legal prescriptions to have a quality of life and the trash on the streets and down in the pits of human offal who slog down their illegal substances for no other purpose than to experience whatever deviated mental state it is that they experience when under the influence. They are like a cancer on the species and need to be removed from any potential for infecting the innocent. You do not belong to that class and neither do I. If we need our meds, we are legitimate. They are not legitimate, they are not justifiable. They are trash and they need to be cleaned up or disposed of.

      4. If the sons of bitches keep on harping about opioids those who actually need pain medication will not be able to get any at all.

      5. My pain management doctor has already started making it difficult….counting my remaining pills….new test for wine or beer drinking which is not outlawed if your have a management doctor….and it will only get worse….and if my pain is still there I will go in search of relief…..I hate to put it that way but the pills let my function daily chuq

      6. John I have 4 missing toes and a leg that has enough metal for a small refrigerator….aspirin does not work…thanx for the link….chuq

      7. Acupuncture is getting to be pretty big on the pain management scene now that we have the burgeoning opioid crisis so you might want to check it out with your pain management specialist and see if it might be available to you too.

      8. After all that you have suffered, you certainly need the best that you can obtain. Let me know how it goes.

  3. Maybe somebody ought to consider getting their facts straight before revealing their hatred of the President in such glowing mis-statements as attributing an IQ to him of less than 50 —– Donald Trump graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1968, with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and anthropology. Mensa doesn’t accept SAT scores from after 1994. However Mr Trump was a student at Wharton when it was possible to derive an accurate IQ core from known SAT scores. Given the usual requirements for admission to a top school like Wharton, I estimate that Mr. Trump has a 156 IQ at the minimum.

The standard description of this level of intelligence is “Genius — Exception intellectual ability and capable of looking beyond known facts.” However, the percentile rating is more revealing than the raw score. A 156 IQ is at the 99.9905490555 percentile. That means that Donald Trump is smarter than 99.99 percent of the people on planet earth. Not only does Trump qualify for membership in Mensa but he could join the Triple Nine Society.

    1. The son of a rich man…a man that had bone spurs to get out of service….by whose word…..a genius would be better informed…..then why is he not a member that would be perfect than saying :I am a really smart person”…my hatred is not greater then yours for Obama…but
you are somehow more accurate? As you are so found of saying…”what goes around comes around”…

      1. You do exceptionally well. I am not so good at entertaining folks. I seem to be a lot better at raising their blood pressure. LOL

  4. Not to your post.. but given what’s unfolding.. it seems Netanyahu has been playing us since he tried the end run in addressing Congress to get no-deal support when Obama was pushing the Iran deal. He suddenly reveals the Iranians have been lying.. when we already knew that long ago… then Trump kills the deal… now it’s a shooting war between Iran and Israel… and they expect us to defend them? All this sounds like real shit, chuq… and we have an asshole President. UGH!
I need more blood pressure meds. 🙂

    1. I read something tht tells the whole story….
“Israeli officials have been talking up an Iranian “attack” on them for several days, and have been striking Iranian targets in Syria nearly every day since then. Nominally these were preemptive strikes, but it also seems they were determined to provoke a reaction from Iran, and finally have.”
WE will have to “protect” Israel….the typical Israel bullshit. chuq

  5. The REAL drug dealers aren’t these small time nobodies that would be replaced -not just before being convicted- but even before they get booked! The REAL drug dealers here are Big Pharma. They deliberately started this opiod epidemic with their intentionally over-hyped, over-prescribed, addictive narcotic. They lied about it being non-addictive from the very get-go and intentionally targeted Hillbillies as test subjects. The addicts are their victims, not the problem.

When are we going to figure out that corporations selling addictive products …especially ones lying about their safety…are entirely responsible for the problem their product creates? (See: Cancer sticks) Actually, they’re far more responsible than Pablo Escobar is for the destruction his drugs created. Because Big Pharma pitched their dope as “safe” and paid off the government to agree. Who would reasonably expect their life to be put in turmoil over a “safe, non-addictive, medicine”?

These motherfuckers need to be exposed. The execs responsible need to pay and their corporations need to be executed.

Man, I need another prescription for “medicinal brownies”. Bigly!!!

    1. Sadly corporations will get a slap on the pee pee and pay a fine…..I will get prison time….justice equal and fair (sarcasm)….chuq
