The Next War

I have spent most of my life studying war……management and resolution and I am always on the lookout for the next conflict that could suck the US into yet another prolonged war.

I have written several papers on this subject and likewise I am always looking for others opinion on the next war…some think it is a boring endeavor….well maybe for them but not to me.

Recently the Trump admin issued their new national defense strategy….in case the reader would like to read a summary of said statement….https://www.defense.gov/Portals/1/Documents/pubs/2018-National-Defense-Strategy-Summary.pdf

The Economist has taken a look at the “next war”………

IN THE past 25 years war has claimed too many lives. Yet even as civil and religious strife have raged in Syria, central Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq, a devastating clash between the world’s great powers has remained almost unimaginable.

No longer. Last week the Pentagon issued a new national defence strategy that put China and Russia above jihadism as the main threat to America. This week the chief of Britain’s general staff warned of a Russian attack. Even now America and North Korea are perilously close to a conflict that risks dragging in China or escalating into nuclear catastrophe.

Did you read the most important part of the intro?

After all the chest thumping about those damn jihadist the analysis states that Russia and/or China are the bigger threats.

  1. This worrying sabre-rattling against Russia has started to appear here since the new year began. Large military exercises, more demands for massive increases in military spending, and so on. Cynical old me sees it as scare-mongering, designed to swell the finances of the big armaments companies.
But it is a fine line they are treading, and we can only hope that they don’t step over it.
    Best wishes, Pete.

      1. I am fine, though not the world. Researching can lead to withdrawing from the world. Cold here, looking forward to some heat. 😉
