Plus this article is pressed from the WaPo….I am not thrilled with this paper for it is as much a propaganda tool as it is a “news” source….
With all the stuff in the news about the plight of all the refugees from conflict one might think that this post would be about the Greek isle known as Lesbos….or refugee island.
Sorry to say that if that is what you think then you will be wrong.
The conflicts, especially those in the Middle East, have created a world problem…..people fleeing from these wars……the world knows them by their media designation….REFUGEES.
There are lots of opinions but most have NO footing in reality…..for you see most people are too damn lazy to research cause and effect….so they prattle on about something they have NO idea of what it truly encompasses.
There has been lots written on the possible solutions to this problem. For me it is simple…if a country help create the problem then they are part of the solution. But I am a lonely person with this…..
There are many that feel that these people are just looking for freebies….or a path to help destroy the “West”…..personally, it is just people that are trying to out run war and find a safe place for their families…..
There is one idea for a solution that I found that is a bit unusual…..please read and tell me what you think…..
Europe is now years into a refugee crisis of historic proportions, and, frankly, there’s no end in sight. Even well-intentioned efforts to stem the crisis have struggled: One high-profile diplomatic arrangement designed to cut the migration route through Turkey and Greece into Eastern Europe appears to have unintentionally diverted refugees toward even more perilous journeys from North Africa across the Mediterranean. The Institute of Migration says at least 1,000 people have died making that journey in the past week alone.
The sheer intractability of the problem has spawned a number of wild suggestions for imaginative — though not necessarily practical — solutions. The latest may be one of the most audacious: a proposal to build a man-made island off the coast of Tunisia that would serve as a haven for refugees hoping to make it to Europe.
Would you get behind this solution? Would this be a more humane solution than the options now ahead of these people?

My solution … every country responsible for creating Refugees MUST be accountable for the lives of those Refugees. Plain and simple.

Building an island? I may be wrong, but I think that idea is ridiculous. Who’s going to pay for it? The refugees? Maybe those who are suggesting it should pay for it.

Nice; Zorba is one of my favorite characters, of all time, right up there with Lazarus…. If we exchange the chestnut for a fire-seared marinated rib-eye, I’d be about as happy as I could be, in those circumstances…. Finding happiness on the individual level is, as noted, pretty simple, if one is aware enough to let go of ego driven BS…. It’s a bit more complex when one is considering all people, for not all can let go enough to be simple…. which is the whole problem, culturally….

I do not wish to belabor a point here but I, for one, would love to see a few hundred of those thousands of your strong males fleeing terror and tyranny in their homeland just turn the hell around and go back home and organize themselves and fight for their freedoms. But maybe their cellphones have limited firing ranges or something.
Maybe the family comes first…I know that maybe a noble idea for some Americans…
So if the family comes first then where are those families? They do not appear in many of the pictures I am seeing of the refugees. I think they are cowards who will not fight for their own freedoms. That has been proven again and again when troops we trained dropped their weapons and fled when the enemy showed their faces. Family has nothing to do with it. It’s all about saving their own rear end. Where are the widows and orphans? Why are the widows and orphans invisible to most of the cameras covering the thousands of refugees? Why is there only a widow or an orphan when some Lame Stream media outlet wants to make an emotional appeal? I do not buy this stuff!
I am sorry but family does have everything to do with it….I do not think that “troops” are part of it….and why is it only burly men when the Right wing rags are there? We can play this back and forth it you like…

This isn’t some simplistic Army A vs Army B. This is a straight up international clusterfuck full of dozens of armies, militias and wingnuts with guns. And they all have their unique agendas. Just who the hell would these heroes join? The Syrian Army that fights for a worthless dictator who targets his own civilians? ISIS? The 4-5 people America spent billions training? The Crypts? The Bloods? Yeah, that’s exactly what Syria needs now, more people indiscriminately killing people. Because 5 years of non-stop fighting has resulted in such great progress!
Wait. Here’s an idea. Because they are such cowards, maybe they should be given joysticks hooked up to drones so they can “fight for freedom” from the safety & comfort of a New Jersey warehouse like some of Uncle Sam’s finest heroes.
