Will This Be The Ugliest Election?

Well sports fans looks like the teams for the November big dance is set……and all pundits seem to think it will be ugly to the max……I mean we have the two most disliked candidates……the question is will it be the ugliest ever in our history?

Well history tells us that it may not be the ugliest one ever….(and yes there will be a historical perspective…..save the whining for later)…..

Jefferson called John Adams a hermaphrodite; Hoover said Al Smith would dig a tunnel to Rome. Step up, Donald!

NO!  Not our beloved Tom!  Is there nothing sacred?

This will be interesting to observe……I cannot think of two more “ugly” candidates than the two presumptive ones of today…..this election should give all bloggers something to rant about and increases their viewership….something we all strive for every day.

  1. “Every two years the American politics industry fills the airwaves with the most virulent, scurrilous, wall-to-wall character assassination of nearly every political practitioner in the country – and then declares itself puzzled that America has lost trust in its politicians.”
    Charles Krauthammer.

It is something I just can’t grasp of the American voting system.
To spend so much money, for such a long time, keeping the nation hostage to every little insignificant detail of a candidate.
Character assassination, lies, slogans showing total ignorance.
If a President goes for re-election he/she cannot be 100% President for two years of the Presidency.
And the system of election itself is very undemocratic in my opinion!

I was worried as President Reagan was elected, I really was very worried as President George Bush was elected.
But now I fear the possibility of Trump.
A product of a political system that needs to change in a more democratic one and most certainly less funding by sponsors.
The money spent now on the campaigning is astronomical and could have been use for much better purposes.

    1. Again I agree…I have saying the same thing for decades…..campaign funds should be limited as well as the length of the season….

  2. Should I revert back to my (already over-discussed) Broad Street Bullies metaphor? Because that’s exactly what it’s going to be like…only with a hell of a lot less cheering and a hell of a lot more booing.
