These days there are many that are worried about the refugees from war….how it will impact their society and so on…..but while they were laser focused on a “maybe” problem and old horror is returning all across Europe and possibly the world….
An evil from the early days of the 20th century is slowing and methodically taken over the mindset of the people….
To paraphrase an old Yiddish saying about kings and queens, you learn one heck of a lot more from a blanket silence from state authorities than from a roster of proclamations and declarations. What geostrategic calculation (or miscalculation) could possibly underlie the hushed-up decision of the West to go along with a drastic revision of World War II history that not only obfuscates the Holocaust and glorifies Hitler’s local East European collaborators and killers, but in effect rubbishes the history narrative of the Grand Alliance that freed Europe of Hitlerism? Not to mention the vast sacrifices of the Allies, still in the immediate family memory of millions of people, to free Europe of Nazism.
We recently reported on these pages about the February 16th neo-Nazi march in central Kaunas (Lithuania’s interwar capital and present second city) that featured a banner of six “national heroes,” five of whom were Holocaust collaborators. That piece concluded with a challenge to the mayor of the capital city, Vilnius, to ban or move the next-in-line March 11th neo-Nazi parade in central Vilnius. Alas, it went ahead without public comment from him, or from the American or British (or for that matter, any other) ambassador. The “good news” is that it featured “only” two Holocaust collaborators in the pantheon of heroes on the lead banner, there was “just one” hugeantisemitic image, and “only” a few swastikas in the Lithuanian style (with added lines) proudly worn in front of the nation’s prime institutions of government on the march’s route. There were the usual slurs against Poles, Russians, LGBT people and more.

It is time for the world to see this for what it is…..a return of evil…..a return of hate……that cannot end well.
The silence is easily explained by the simple fact it plays right into the hands of the arms dealers who are driving the political scenario we see today. Those who choose ignorance deliberately, in order to give vent to their own inadequacies and fears, are the most easily manipulated people there are, willing to do violence to almost anyone who isn’t them, for almost no reason… Makes it easy to foment discord, and, sell them arms to fight each other with….
Not surprising at all… and, I would point out, this particular evil not only didn’t go away, but, has always been around, and, will be until we have fulfilled our own apparent genetic imperative to kill ourselves….

I think it is probably being fueled by the criminal activities of the unrestrained hordes of migrants who come ashore to rape, loot, pillage and make demands on the host countries. Under such siege conditions a little rise in nationalism is only to be expected.
Those people are just an excuse like they were in the 20’s and 30’s…
An excuse that acts like a ravening plague devouring everything in their path.

Fascism is as popular now as it’s been since the 40’s. Simple solutions for simple people and there are more simpletons out there every day. Mindless machismo smothered in feel-good racism. Safety, security and power for the folks who feel threatened. To be fair, who doesn’t feel threatened these days?
Unfortunately, the new fascists aren’t remotely interested in architecture, music, urban design, etc and they don’t want the trains to run on time. Shit, they don’t even believe in public transportation…or public anything. (Aside from public spending on the MISC & wall building.) All they’re interested in is racial/religious scapegoating and worship of the Aryan race (aka the 1%). National Socialism minus the socialism.
At least they could pretend to be concerned….maybe that is what Trump and Cruz are doing….destruction from the inside…

But if I was running shit, you wouldn’t be sent to camp for what religion or ethnic group you belonged to, who you liked to sleep with, etc. Sure, I might amass a similar body count.
