Where does Bernie Sanders stand on the issues?

Tomorrow voters go to the polls in Michigan and elsewhere….and it appears that Clinton is extending her lead…….and that will be a real shame…..she is NOT what this country needs at this time….if ever…..

Time for me to get involved…….Bernie is the best man for the job at hand…..and most people know very little about him…..why?  The media is trying to keep Clinton in the drivers seat…..so let me help you out.

If you are truly looking for a candidate that has an answer to this country;s problems then maybe you should spend a little time and get to know Bernie and his issues……

Get out and VOTE!  Do not let this election go the way of the do-do.  This country needs some level head thought and Bernie, in my opinion, is that person…..but do not take my word for it…..

Educate yourself…..for the sake of the nation…..educate yourself!

Why The Disdain For Veterans?

The most sickening part of any national election is all the faux concern by candidates for the plight of the American veteran…..glowing words of praise and cute little slogans and we have the makings of a winner in the political arena.

If all this concern is genuine why are the vets suffering at the hands of the government they pledge to protect?

Our veterans are treated like tools…..once they are broken we discard and get a new one to take its place……a great (cough, cough) American statesman, Kissinger, has an answer to my question…..

 

This is the type of stuff that should make Americans pissed off…..but instead they turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the plight of the veteran…..it is a shame that vets give their all and in return an ungrateful country pushes them aside…maybe if everyone served it would be different….

What’s In The Name?

You have run into those people that are on the Right that term everything as “politically correct” especially if you do not agree with their wrapped sense of morality……well government is NO stranger to this type of “labeling”……

There is a new budget initiative and as with every new budget there are rumblings of “base closures” to help the country save money…….well some in the Congress are worried about the term and how it would be perceived by the people when it was made public especially if there are military units in their districts….

Every year, initial Pentagon budget requests include talk of closing unneeded military bases within the US, with their latest estimates saying they could save $2 billion annually with some simple base closures designed to eliminate excess space they simply don’t use.

Every year, Congress shoots the plan down, because no one wants base closures to happen in their state. This year though, there seems to be less resistance, though Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R – NE) made it clear that they’re not comfortable with the term “base closures.”

Rep. Fortenberry urged the Pentagon to rebrand the effort as being run by a “military infrastructure savings commission” instead of a “round of base closures.” The semantic difference apparently is significant, though there were still no promises of support for the plan.

The Pentagon is in the midst of a study on exactly how much excess capacity they have, but officials estimated that around 20% more bases than they need, with the Air Force estimating their own capacity was above 30% more than needed.

I love it!  Re-name the issue so that it bores the public to tears and they can get away with the cuts and closures…..trying to prevent the panic that the announcements would have on families and communities….make up one of those lame acronyms that DC is famous for…..

Just another of those damn silly games Washington plays when they think no one is watching…..then they cannot understand why the public thinks they are a mess of clowns….go figure!

In Search Of A Poor Man’s Nuke

Time for me to return to something interesting…..I have had enough of American reality TV that we called an election…..the world is awaiting so I will do what I do best….look for those events that could be life changing…..

I have written several articles about missing nuke material and their uses…..most of them are contained in a piece I wrote for Ace News Room recently……which I pressed here on IST….basically they are pieces on what to look for and what to do when a dirty bomb is detected……

Some may think that this is just alarmist thinking…..but with the amount of nuke material floating around the world….it is only a matter of time before some nut-job decides to use one to make a point……

Bernie Reaches Out

No matter how hard I try to move past this election mash-up I am always drawn back to it in one fashion or another…..damn the luck!

I believe that the 2016 election will be more about foreign policy than anything else…..Clinton is using her stint at State to push her bona fides….then there is Trump with his vague slogans and applause lines…..Cruz and Ribio want to “make the sand glow”…..and then there is Bernie.

I have said that while I like his domestic programs I am concerned with his lack of direction in foreign policy……in my opinion he needs help formulating a foreign policy direction….

After saying that….he has attempted to find his foothold in the field of foreign policy…..

Amid criticism that his campaign lacks depth on foreign policy, Bernie Sanders is reaching out to several experts in the field to assist his campaign.

Lawrence J. Korb, a defense policy expert at the Center for American Progress, told POLITICO that Sanders called him Sunday to ask whether the Vermont senator can name him as an adviser to his campaign. Korb agreed. “I said he could,” Korb said. “That’s the last I heard. I don’t know if it’s going to be formal or anything.”

I like the fact that he realizes his inadequacies and is attempting to rectify it……at least he is trying and not making up bullshit slogans as a foreign policy stand…..I also like the fact the he, Bernie< will learn to find his way through the complex field of international relations instead of making crap up just to get an applause and a couple of cheers from mental midgets.

The one problem I have is his choice……not the organization that he has reached out to for help….the Center for American Progress…..it bills itself as…….

My concern is the person he has reached out to for this help…..Korb is a former member of the GW Bush administration….he has these neo-con tendencies that will not be conducive to the progressive ideals the Bernie is pushing….

I am a bit disappointed in Bernie’s choice as an adviser…..there is still time to find a more progressive theorist in the field of foreign policy……

I am hopeful he will come to his senses……

I have made no bones about the fact that I do not support Bubba Clinton nor his wife, Hillary…..my dislike comes from the policies he enacted as prez and I feel Hillary will follow the same path…..I just do not trust the Clintons as far as I could spit them…….

I said in the past that if Bernie were to become a threat to her then the dirty tricks will rise to the top of the soup…..and that prediction was fairly accurate……

In the recent Massachusetts primary the bag of tricks was flung open….

Hours before his wife was named the Massachusetts primary winner on Super Tuesday, apparent political novice Bill Clinton strolled into a polling station in Boston. Standing with Mayor Marty Walsh at the Holy Name Parish School, Clinton greeted poll staff and voters and even kissed an elderly woman on the head, reports Boston.com. When one woman asked to take a photo with him, he responded, “as long as we’re not violating any election laws,” reports MassLive.com. He might have done just that. The office of Massachusetts’ Secretary of State William Galvin notes Hillary Clinton’s campaign had to be “reminded” that state election rules bar the solicitation of a vote within 150 feet of a polling location.

The former president had also entered a polling station in Newton, reports the Boston Globe. When asked if his presence alone was a violation, a rep said, “He’s a well-known person and he’s a spouse of a candidate. That should answer the question.” Galvin, however, says Clinton was permitted in polling stations as long as he didn’t solicit votes. “We just took the extra precaution of telling them because this is not a usual occurrence,” he tells the New York Times. Galvin adds Clinton is “not from here so he may not know” the rules, noting penalties are only dished out in cases of “absolute disobedience,” per CBS Boston. A rep for Walsh says he and Clinton “were not campaigning inside the polling location.”

I said that there sshould be some action taken to stop Bubba and his merry band of cronies from pulling these tricks…..I asked for it………I got it!

More than 106,000 people have signed a Change.org petition calling for “the immediate arrest of President Bill Clinton” for allegedly violating Massachusetts election laws. On Super Tuesday, Clinton was seen glad-handing voters and volunteers—and even kissing an elderly woman—at polling places. The problem? Campaigning within 150 feet of a polling place is illegal in Massachusetts, the Daily Dot reports. Clinton’s behavior led to a flurry of complaints, but Bernie Sanders supporter Veronica Wolski of Chicago decided to do something about it, creating the petition. “I am so grateful that so many saw the same injustice I did and are taking a stand to correct this,” she says.

Massachusetts’ secretary of state has already said Clinton was allowed to be at the polling places as long as he wasn’t soliciting votes. But Wolski points out that he isn’t a Massachusetts voter and would have no reason to be there other than campaigning for his wife. However, there are a few problems with Wolski’s petition to have Clinton arrested (other than its misspelling of the current president’s name as O’Bama). One, it’s addressed to the wrong state official. Two, MassLive reports the punishment for campaigning at a polling place is a stiff $20 fine. Hillary Clinton beat Sanders in Massachusetts 50% to 49%

2016: The Weekend That Was

In case you were otherwise engaged living life and enjoy the day…..I will give you the mark-up on the races that made the weekend bearable for the media…..

First the Repubs……

Ted Cruz picked up two double-digit victories against Donald Trump Saturday night with wins in Kansas and Maine, though Trump won much tighter contests in Louisiana and Kentucky. Trump will retain a sizable overall lead in delegates, but the Cruz wins show “there’s no quick end in sight to the fractious GOP race,” notes AP. Cruz’s victory in Kansas was especially decisive: He received 48% of the vote, well ahead of Trump (23%), Marco Rubio (17%), and John Kasich (11%). The results in Maine, another caucus, were a bit closer: Cruz (46%), Trump (33%), Kasich (12%), and Rubio (8%). Trump’s wins over Cruz, meanwhile, will likely end up being in the single digits, with Rubio having a weak night all around. In fact, Trump called on him to drop out in his post-results address to supporters, reports Politico.

“It’s time,” he said, adding, “I want Ted one on one.” In his own address, delivered early in the night, Cruz told supporters in Idaho that “what we’re seeing is the public coming together, libertarians coming together, men and women who love the Constitution coming together and uniting and standing as one behind this campaign.”

And now the adults in the room (as scary as that may sound)…..the Dems…….

Bernie Sanders has won the two Democratic caucuses of the night in Kansas and Nebraska, but Hillary Clinton countered with a big win in the Louisiana primary, reports CNN. The network called the latter race soon after polls closed at 9 Eastern, with African-American voters again giving her an easy victory. With 58 delegates at stake, Louisiana is the single biggest prize of the night. Kansas has 37 at stake and Nebraska 30. Which means that while Sanders has bragging rights after winning two of three, “the results were not likely to alter the broader contours of a race in which Mrs. Clinton maintains a significant delegate lead,” observes the New York Times.

The only thing you missed was the implosion of Rubio…the man could not buy votes last weekend….his only dim hope is looking like Florida….plus it gives the MSM something to speculate over for the next week or so….

See your time was better spent on other endeavors……leave the mundane crap to me.
