The Dem race is looking all but won……
The results of yet another big Tuesday of voting are rolling in, and they’re proving to be good news for Hillary Clinton: She has won Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, and Illinois, reports the AP. In Florida, Clinton had been handily leading all the polls, and she was handed the state immediately after polls closed at 8pm Eastern. With 99% of the vote in, she has a sizable 64% of the vote, giving her 142 delegates to 62 for Bernie Sanders. Clinton is up by double digits over Bernie Sanders in Ohio and North Carolina as well, per NBC News, with the win in North Carolina allowing her to complete her sweep of the South.
In Illinois, the race was called when Clinton had 50.5% of the vote with 96% of results in, giving her 88 delegates to 64 for Sanders. In Missouri, with 99% of precincts in, Clinton is 0.2% ahead, making the race a virtual tie. Sanders was hoping to pull off another Michigan-level surprise in at least one of the five states voting on Tuesday, but he appears bound for disappointment. Vox notes all five states voting tonight award their Democratic delegates proportionally
As well for the Repubs…..
It’s a campaign-saving win for John Kasich and a campaign-ending loss for Marco Rubio. In the latter race, Donald Trump easily defeated the Florida senator in Rubio’s home state. The contest had been seen as do-or-die for Rubio, and it turned out to be die: He suspended his campaign in an evening address to supporters. Both CNN and the AP called the state as soon as the last polls closed at 8pm Eastern, with Trump up by nearly 20 points in the winner-take-all contest.
In the other big race, however, Kasich got a much-needed win in his own home state of Ohio. Kasich beat Trump by around 11%, and he received a rousing cheer from supporters when he promised, “I will not take a low road to the highest office in the land,” per Reuters. Trump, meanwhile, praised Rubio: “He’s tough, he’s smart, and he’s got a great future.” In the other three states voting Tuesday night, Trump racked up victories in Illinois and North Carolina, and he was leading a close race in Missouri with Ted Cruz. Earlier, he won the Northern Mariana Islands caucus with 73% of the vote.
But…but…there was still 4% left in IL. I say that tongue and cheek(ish). It wasn’t a landslide by any means.
No surprises with the GOP. After all the trash talk I would have told Trump to shove his compliment up his umm…butt? That’s why I’m not a politician.
Me either
Mark this for future reference: By hook or crook, Hillary Clinton is going to be your President for the next 4 years. Period! All this other stuff is theater for the masses …. the bloodsport of politics for the masses … the Colliseum of National Indulgences ….the curtain behind which the man we are to pay no attention pulls his levers and presses his buttons on behalf of Wall Street.
NO need for me to mark it my friend….I have been saying that since her original announcement. She has NEVER been one I would defend in any way….just like her hubby….he did NOTHING to progress America forward…he did pad his bank account nicely.
Republicans:
1) Ahhh, poor Little Marco….In the end, he was never actually the “Champion of the Establishment”. He was no heroic knight, just a silly little boy in a suit of armour made out of plastic.
The guy only won Puerto Rubio and 2 photo finishes in Minnesota and DC. This “looosa” didn’t even come close to winning his own state! Yet somehow, he kept “failing upwards”. Lifted up by the desperate, delusional, dreams of the handfuls of Republicans who haven’t completely lost their shit.
But departing is also Little Marco’s final “rookie mistake”. He drops out the night an Open/Delegated Convention was finally made possible. He should have stuck around for a “ghost campaign”, focusing his efforts on wherever he could pick up a few Non-Winner-Take-All delegates. (ie NY) That way, he could still hold onto his delegates and play “Kingmaker” role at a convention. Now they can vote for whoever they feel like. TOTAL AMATEUR who never should have made it out of the Starting Gate!!!
2) K-Suck’s rise from “Under 1%? He really needs to drop out!” to a possible 3rd place Kingmaker at the Convention definitely proves a point. He makes Jeb! and all the other establishment vets look even more pathetic for driving themselves to the glue factory so quickly. Curiously, despite being out of the race for about a month, Jeb! actually got over 43,000 votes last night!
The Republican establishment owes K-Suck bigtime! Ricky Ricardo Jr folded like a cheap tent in a Florida Hurricane and has been blown into the ocean, never to be seen again (not running for re-election) But K-Suck held up.
I probably had his cash cow jerked out of his grasp and without the cash he is just a smiling toad…
Huh? You jerked his cash cow until his toad smiled? I have no idea what you’re talking about, but it sure sounds pretty dirty.
He is smiling a lot
Well, that just makes him even more of an idiot! He’s now an unemployed politician with a giant “loser” sticker on his forehead.
Somebody needs to buy Ricardo a book that explains the history of US politics. In particular, the whole “favourite son” thing, where local heroes acted as placeholders for another candidate. Or, to boost the state’s political influence and/or the national profile of said “favourite son”. It’s ideal for a shiny-faced, pretty boy, with no hope whatsoever of winning nationally. (aka Little Marco)

Love the link….actually I like the ad at the bottom Turnipseed….sounds like a good description of Marco.
Democrats:
People talk about the “race being over” as if there was ever actually a race. There was NEVER going to be a Democratic race! The Democratic race was essentially over the minute Hillary declared (and maybe when Biden didn’t).
Thanks to Super-Delegates, she started with an almost insurmountable lead. (450-ish Delegates in a race that needs 2,300-ish to win) Thanks to proportional delegation of Delegates, all she had to do was “fail to fail miserably” on a fairly consistent basis. She just couldn’t lose! Bernie would basically have to beat her by 20% in every single state.
If this race was the 100M dash…Hillary spent the last 10+ years training with the best trainers at the best facilities her big money could buy. And Super-Delegates placed her starting blocks on the 20M line. She’d have to fall flat on her face and knock herself cold in order to be passed by the elderly Jew with a walker.
It’s an absolute miracle Bernie has been this competitive for this long!
Well it may be JUST a flicker but even when he loses; I FEEL THE BERN! dru
Me too….
