For me the issue of education is one of the most important domestic issues…..we hear lots of blah blah blah on education but few have any idea how to make it as important as it should be……
To be honest….I am a Bernie supporter….I like his ideas….not all of them but the important ones on domestic issues….I like…..

Since you only recommended it to me a few minutes ago, I have yet to see :Idiocracy”, but, I would imagine it’s pretty good, as Art, in any age, always shows the underbelly of the current PTB, using humor as its keenest scalpel to lay it bare….and, the underbelly of our current crop is pretty ugly, indeed…
I also find it ironic for any politician to be a supposed proponent of education, for an educated populace of voters is the very last thing they want us to be….
Again, hmph…. too much irony floating around today; it’s getting sticky….

I knew that there were great differences in funding public schools in the US. Never knew that property tax ha to do with it. In a poor district a student will never have a fair chance to have a good education. And if you consider the difference between private and public school there is such a big gap!. It seems that this democratic presidential candidate has a constructive idea on the matter. In the Netherlands the funding is the same for schools in a poorer and richer neighbourhood. Also the same for public and private schools. All of them have room for a different approach but all of them have to teach (nationwide) the quality levels that have been set. If they don’t they are monitored till the level is reached, the same when the subsidies aren’t spent properly.
Yours sound like a equitable system….the US education is just sad…..and we cannot do anything about it……chuq
It took more than a century( about the early 19th century-early 20th centuary) to reach that point and it wasn’t easy to achieve. In Dutch it is known as `De Schoolstrijd`. Translated it is The Schoolstruggle`
US will continue to struggle as long as “saving” money is the priority….chuq
