Can Golf Be Hazardous To Your Health?

My last day of quiet time, well mentally at least, and as usual I have found something that is really weird or in this case, just sick…..

You know I have often pondered on just why anyone would watch something as boring as Golf on the tube and then I met a guy that thinks fishing on TV is good entertainment……but back to golf…….I tried it a few years back and know why these people drink beer and ride in carts…it relieves the tedium of the game….but I guess it could be made more interesting…like a public course in my city….it is laid out around and through the city sewage treatment plant…..and it makes it more interesting when you throw in the intense smell and the flies….good fun!

But this I read this story……

A Texas man was impaled with a golf club, allegedly because one group at a Fort Worth golf course was playing too slowly.

Clay Carpenter, 48, suffered massive blood loss and faces the possibility of a leg amputation, after spending nine days in the hospital. He was among a group at the Eagle Mountain Lake course who were apparently trying to pass the golfers in front of them, the Star-Telegram reported.

Cops are investigating the evidence in the case, including an 11-minute 911 call obtained by the paper, in which one of the golfers can be heard screaming at the dispatcher to get a helicopter ambulance because Carpenter was “bleeding profusely” and “he’s about to die.”

It’s still unclear who jammed the iron club into Carpenter’s leg during the melee and who threw the first punch.

MyFox-DFW reported that the fight broke out at about 3:30 p.m. and that Carpenter’s assailant may have swung the club at his head before it broke.

During the 911 call, the other golfers said that Carpenter’s groin was “leaking [blood] like a faucet” and that they had to pinch his femoral artery to stop it from bleeding while paramedics arrived.

What more can be said?  The UFC comes to the golf course……God, I love this stuff!  I have often thought of ways to make golf more interesting but this never seem to be on the list……
