The Worst/Best Thing That Could Happen

Mitt wins Arizona and Michigan….really Santorum lost Michigan…if he would have said with the blue collar argument that he has made in the past we would have won, in my opinion…I would bet that women were the deal killer for Rick…….

I was listening to a couple of pundits discuss the primaries in Michigan and Arizona….they were predicting the winner and by how much and they were talking about the consequences of the outcomes and I got to thinking about that also……..what if Romney won the nomination or if Santorum wins what would be the direction of the party going forward.

This is just stuff that has been running around my head as I contemplate the 2012 election…..let’s say mitt wins the nomination and after a hard fought campaign he loses to Obama in November…how will that effect the GOP?  My thought is that if the so-called moderate of the party could not win then the possibility that the party will take an even harder turn to the right trying to find that balancing point that could lead them to the White House…..IMO, this would be the worst thing that could happen to the party for the next generation.

Now the best thing that could happen to the GOP.  Santorum wins a difficult fight for the nomination and after a dirty campaign from both sides he is defeated by Obama…….How would this effect the party?  I think that with a loss using a far right candidate the party would then come to their senses and start trying to find and work on a winning strategy by pulling it self back to the conservative ideals that has worked in the past to elect Repubs to the White House……it would give them the incentive to start governing and cease all the divisive issues and work on plans that will give the country a fighting chance…..

I think that no matter who wins the nomination of the GOP it will change the party…….it could be for the better…..or it could be for the worse…….I realize that it will take more than one election for the system to change into a better system….but we have to start somewhere…….

All’s Hell On The Syrian Front

Since not many Americans realize what is going on in Syria I have decided to do what I did with the Libya situation and post a series of the under-reported stories coming out of the region……

I realize that more American were worried about the Oscars than what is happening in Syria……but while they were watching millionaires strut their stuff…..the war drums were beating a little louder…..

I have listened to all the pundits on what needs to be done about Syria……from arming rebels to “no fly zone” to sending troops…..not many on the right are saying diplomatic channels would be in the US best interests….they seem to relish the idea of direct confrontation with Assad……looks like these are the same people that were positive that there were WMDs in Iraq….they were wrong then, they are wrong now!

Regardless of what I believe there is a report of Syrian possible WMDs ……(here we go again)…….

This week, the State Department sent a diplomatic demarche to Syria’s neighbors Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia, warning them about the possibility of Syria’s WMDs crossing their borders and offering U.S. government help in dealing with the problem, three Obama administration officials confirmed to The Cable. For concerned parties both inside and outside the U.S. government, the demarche signifies that the United States is increasingly developing plans to deal with the dangers of a post-Assad Syria — while simultaneously highlighting the lack of planning for how to directly bring about Assad’s downfall.

Syria is believed to have a substantial chemical weapons program, which includes mustard gas and sophisticated nerve agents, such as sarin gas, as well as biological weapons. Syria has also refused IAEA requests to make available facilities that were part of its nuclear weapons program and may still be in operation.

WMDs….they were part of the rhetoric in the 90’s and a major part of the rhetoric in the early days of the 21st century…all i can say is to reiterate what I just wrote….here we go again!

And there are other reports that point to the US becoming more involved in the Syrian situation than we are told……..

The Pentagon is readying for the possibility of intervention in Syria, aiming to halt Syrian President Bashsar Assad‘s violent crackdown on protesters, the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Saturday, citing a US military offical.

According to the official, the intervention scenario calls for the establishment of a buffer zone on the Turkish border, in order to receive Syrian refugees. The Red Cross would then provide the civilians humanitarian aid, before NATO crews would arrive from Turkey and join the efforts.

The measure would pave the way for the US to declare an aerial blockade on Syria.

The intercession is to be modeled after NATO’s efforts in Kosovo, which brought an end to the Serbian control of the region. NATO’s plan of action included prolonged aerial shelling.

It looks like Americans are ramping up the rhetoric and the backstreet actions to get us more involved…..if so who are we trying to impress with these actions?

Seldom does any of these actions go well and we may well be involved in the overthrow of yet another Arabic country…..I want to know who we are trying to appease with these actions?  These type of actions the backdoor tactics and lies have gotten many Americans killed and were done to appease one faction or another…..will America be drawn into yet another stupid decision that will be the death of more our troops?
