I always like to give my reader a little history now and then, I believe it helps them in making informed decisions about their elected officials….this time it is a little personal history thrown in…….
Back in the 1990’s when I was at my peak of political activism….I was asked by a local TV station to appear on a show to debate David Duke……for those who may be a bit young and NOT remember the name, let me help….David duke is the past or former KKK head man and back in the days I mentioned he was running for the governorship in Louisiana……I was asked because of my extreme liberal political writings and such and the TV station thought it would be a good show for two extreme political people to go at it….they were thinking ratings……I agreed but the show was cancelled when Mr. Duke and I had a run in in the hallway before the show….I will not go into the specifics but let us say it was NOT a pleasant encounter for either one of us…..my problem with this was that Duke had been on the show several times with NO rebuttal to his racists shit and I had asked the station if they were acting ass his agent……I guess they just wanted me to shut up and planned for Duke and I to duke it out (verbally, that is)….but things did not work out as well as I had hoped……anyway….you are probably asking just why do I bring all this past stuff up, right?

The current field of 2012 GOP presidential candidates is pretty boring. You’ve got several grouchy old men, a pizza magnate, and a walking anal sex joke. So why not a white supremacist? Sure, the GOP has noted xenophobes like Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, but they lack the panache of an openly racist candidate. But that could soon change, as 1990s throwback David Duke prepares to embark on a tour of 26 states to feel out his chances of putting the “white” back in the White House.

Besides Duke, several other “racial realists” — among them Neo-Confederates, Neo-Nazis, Klansmen, and other assorted “white nationalists” — have their eyes on government offices across the country. I seems that the so-called “nationalists” are making a comeback just as they have in Europe……
Look at the damage the Repubs are doing on the state level….can you imagine what we would have to look forward to if these racists started making head way also? The agendas at the state level smack of the prejudices of the past and of the white supremacist movement in general…….
Please don’t take this personally, but this is the danger often posed by the hard left – too much left-wing crap, too much socialism or socialist leaning (liberalism in American terms, if you will) and the reaction is a violent swing to the right with all the right-wingnuts suddenly appearing out of the woodwork. Of course, the converse is true – too hard to the right for too long and the country swings hard to the left.
Why can’t we have a bit of moderation so that the majority of ordinary people at least get SOMETHING out of life and their vote? Just a thought… 👿
And a good thought it is…..the problem is he may play well in the South where there is still a lot of racism under the veneer of a “New South”….there is NOTHING new here….at least in my state….
