Obama’s Immigration Bill

From the VOMITORIUM

First it was Arizona and its SB 1070…..it became all the rage on the airwaves….then other states jumped on the bandwagon trying to gain some political advantage for the GOP in the upcoming mid-terms……and of course, the usual suspects on the Right, especially those on the tube began the massive attacks on the admin for their lack of immigration stands…..then came the GOP and other conservs that started attacking the 14th amendment of the Constitution wanting to repeal it as a way to control illegal immigration…..it seems that according to the GOP illegals cross the border with the sole idea of having their children in the US so they will be citizens……as usual the admin just had to do something to try and quiet the opposition……the Congress passed the bill to show that they were determined to stop the flow of illegals entering the US….the bill is amazing (that is sarcasm) as reported in the AP……

The border security measure would fund the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents to be deployed at critical areas along the border, 250 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and 250 more Customs and Border Protection officers.

It provides for new communications equipment and greater use of unmanned surveillance drones. There are currently seven such drones along the border. Almost one-third of the money goes to the Justice Department to help agencies such as the FBI, the DEA and the ATF deal with drug dealers and human traffickers.

The bill is paid for by raising fees on foreign-based personnel companies that use U.S. visa programs, including the popular H-1B program, to bring skilled workers to the United States. India says higher fees would discriminate against its companies and workers.

This will do little to stop undocumented aliens from flooding the border….i9t will, however, give the Dems some ammo they can use to counter anything that the Repubs try to use during the mid-terms…..This will do little to stop people from trying to enter the US to go to work….but it looks good on paper and on the campaign trail.

  1. In most cases, illegal immigration is not the problem it’s made out to be – in fact LEGAL immigration is more likely to become a source of difficulty and anger.

Illegals generally keep a low profile and, although some claim they work for less (understandably) and drive wages down, they are mostly doing the jobs the locals don’t WANT to do anyway. Equally, illegals struggle to claim welfare and similar local services.

There’s nothing very diffrent about this… just like firms like MacDonalds often employ students for low pay. It’s the same situation – many other similar and service industries just cannot pay huge wages unless the whole national culture changes and you have to ask yourself, “Do I really want my burger to double or triple in price and students also NOT be able to find work to help them through university?” (because no one in their right mind would employ students to do anything unless they were VERY cheap – current students may be inflamed at that, whilst EX students who now live in the real world will I suspect understand perfectly).

As you point out, the whole thing is political manoeuvering and theatre, which I think is in fact far and away the most disgusting and damning thing about it. The current political system requires this – makes it essential. Obama HAS to do it (though I’m sure he knows it’s a waste of time and money), or face likely political extinction!

Can you think of a more crap way to run a country!!!!!!!!??
    👿

    1. I wish I could think of a crappy way but unfortunately I CANNOT!

I recently interviewed some day workers outside a Home Depot….all Hispanic…not ONE American was waiting to go to work…..and not one of the 5 guys I talked to had their wives here a or were trying to make kids so they could stay in this country….as a matter of fact 4 of them wanted to work for 6 months and then go home……

The GOP has manufactured a problem where there is none….they are becoming more and more pathetic….

      1. Yes……most of the “issues” in American politics are manufactured to fit the election…how sad is that?
