I have changed the theme of my blog…I wanted to make it more user friendly….I do a lot of writing and it is difficult to keep up with me normally….this new theme will let my reader click on a specific category and find all the posts there….I am hoping this will increase the number of people commenting because I would like to hear all points of view on any given subject…..Please if you disagree with me or just want to add to the discussion, please do so…..I always respect someone’s opinion and I do demand civility from all comments…..we can disagree with being disagreeable…..I hope you enjoy the change….if not let me know and we can readjust the blog…..look forward to the comments and the debate……
Sad to lose the picture, but I guess it has a “clearer” feel about it and might hepl people to navigate.
Yeah, I hated to lose the pic, but this way people, if interested, can find more articles that I have written…..I am hoping that it gets some of my earlier stuff a little exposure, the days before I had loyal readers…..we will see….and thanx for the hinesty…
This theme is easier to read, but the links under the header are out of control. Any way you can cut them down to one or two lines?
Chris…thanx for your input…..like I said I want to help the reader that is interested in other posts that I have on the topics…hopefully it will help the comments…I really want all to comment……I live for the debate and exchange…..
I think I pretty much agree with ChrisWWW. In my opinion it’s better to reduce the number of categories that are broad indications of the subject and use tags to refine this.
For instance (in my opinion): Analocity would be a category; but demand not liquidity, capitalism and why, Liberal Republican, business, market reform and several others should just be “politics” and/or maybe there should be one on economics (or business) do you see what I mean – that could reduce the “categories” down to around five or ten and it would be more manageable.
I agree that following a particular theme or thread can be helpful, but you can do that by including the “tag cloud” widget in your sidebar.
It’s all a matter of preference, though. For instance, because debate is usually about the discussion “now”, I rarely look back on any site past more than a few posts. I know how to do it if I want to and so do others, but most don’t and many comments on older posts are in fact little more than spam, so unless w commenter on an older post is VERY specific, I usually ignore or delete them.
There are so many approaches to this, but ChrisWWW is right – the categories at the top (I presume that’s what they are) do have an “out of control” feel – there are just too many and, if the category of a post is displayed with the post (which is normal) the reader can in any event click on it to see all other posts with that category.
the ones you speak of are pages that I want to keep for people to read also……and I have been agonizing over this most of the nite…and I think I have found my solution…..

I pretty much agree – I like this layout…
I just had a thought though… one option might be to create what amounts to a blogroll (same thing – a link category) with the title “Special Interset Items” or something like that in your sidebar (maybe abouve the tag cloud) with a link to each or your pages there – you could even open each of them in a new window if it seemed appropriate.
Equally, though (and in my view MUCH BETTER), with THIS theme you can list your pages in the side bar as well and, additionally, you can set up a hierarchy for the pages. IF you edit the existing pages and make them all “children” of a “parent” page (say a special interest page with just a short para saying that special interest pages can be viewed by clicking on their title in the sidebar) – THEN, if you make all your pages “children” of that page they will not show at the top BUT will still show up in the “pages” widget in your sidebar.
I know that’s clear as mud, but email me if you want a proper explanation or help.
That is a good idea……I will work on it a little later….right now I have had enough tech……I need to be researching and writing….if you know what I mean….my daughter who is a tech geek had a few ideas also and I will see what she has in mind…..but thanx fore the idea….I always appreciate creative criticism……
