The Myth Of The Women’s Vote

During the campaign of 2016 the public was bombarded almost daily about the women’s vote…..how Trump had lost them and they were the way forward for Hillary….

All those polls were a bit off…..as they always are….only this time the public was more gullible than in the past.

This is a good op-ed on the myth of the women’s vote……

Among the clichés that deserve to be thrown out after the recent presidential election in the US is the idea of “women’s vote.”
It may seem surprising that only 54 percent of the female electorate voted for Hillary Clinton, the first woman nominated for president by a major party. But while gender is a strong marker for how Americans think about certain issues, it is not the best predictor of how they will vote. It turns out that female candidates do not face a single gender gap, but rather multiple gender gaps.

According to all the surveys Hillary had all the major demographics…..women….Latinos….Asians…..Blacks……Millennials and yet she had her ass handed to her by Mr. Trump……at least in the Electoral College….and that is where it counts (more on that in a later post)……

Sunday and I am working in the orchard bringing in the Satsumas…….the tangerines will be ready next month…….yesterday my better half and I had breakfast at that place with the “arches”….2 bacon, egg and cheese biscuits, 1 sausage and egg biscuit, 2 hash browns and 2 small OJs…..price $17.49….later I picked up  my pain meds from a local druggist cost….$17.54….what does that tell you?

I was at a local coffee shop with my granddaughter….she was doing some ‘net surfing and I was enjoying a fine cup of Blue Mountain…..

In the table next to us were 3 older ladies…..60’s maybe 70’s….they were talking and laughing but then one brought up a subject that made me stop and look at the door (as not to let on that I was eavesdropping)……

This one lady said that her daughter asked her if she had heard of “female gentle mutilation”?  Apparently my granddaughter heard the comment also for she gave me her WTF? face……..I was about to smile when I realize that even though she had misspoke…how many people in this country are aware of what this procedure is all about?

FGM, or cutting, as it is also sometimes known, is the removal of the external female genitalia. The procedure has no health benefits, but can cause great harm and serious health complications for those who undergo the procedure. Besides causing severe pain, the practice has immediate and long-term consequences for the health of women and girls, including complications during childbirth, which could endanger the lives of both mother and child.

This is a horrible thing to do to a young woman…..while the older ladies term was a bit humorous….there is NOTHING humorous about this procedure……I hope this well give my reader a little knowledge about this despicable practice.

Women Take Up Arms

I remember when the Army allowed women into the Ranger training course and couple of them passed with flying colors…..there was a bit of a push back….mostly from those people that think that women should be at home bare foot and pregnant cooking dinner, having his slippers waiting when Papa comes home.  And then after that “set back” the news broke that women would be allowed to choose “combat arms” when entering the Army…..meaning they could be thrown into the conflict just like their male counterparts……and once again those people that think that women are only good to keep the “home fires burning” were back in force….railing about all that 17th century bullsh*t……

But I have written about women in the Middle East that are as much “freedom fighter” as their male counterparts……(but in case you missed my superb posts)…….

With your memory sufficiently refreshed ….there is more on the women of the Middle East that are doing more than their part to defeat the forces of evil……

It is no exaggeration to say that a strip of land along Syria’s northern border with Turkey is home to the most radical experiment in democracy and gender equality, not just in the Middle East, but in the whole world. Western Kurdistan, or Rojava, ‘the land where the sun sets’, first entered popular consciousness in that lopsided way that news from elsewhere hits Western TV screens, when Kurdish women fighters liberated Yazidi women and children from ISIS on Mount Sinjar in August/September 2015. When the might of the US, the Free Syrian Army and the other regional armies in Iraq were unable to stop the advance of ISIS, young women in military fatigues and floral scarves defeated men who can barely tolerate fully covered-up women. Such film footage was undeniably eye-catching. Yet rather than leading to further information and analysis of the Rojava phenomenon, it was appropriated for the purposes of capitalist consumerism. H&M tried to sell a range of clothing based on the women’s uniforms, provoking outrage in the Kurdish community for trivializing their struggle.

These women are proving that they are just as capable as any man and in some cases more so……

It is the 21st century in case you were not aware that the 17th century has long since passed……

 

Women And The Draft

The big news, at least for some, is that women have been approved for roles in direct combat units…….and the peasants went batcrap crazy at the news….they say that families will be destroyed and other such fears…..

So if we have a draft will women be forced to register?

Well Batman….if they turn 18 then yes they should register for the draft….but then we have some like this tool from the Congress, Duncan Hunter,……..

A key congressional committee voted last week to require young women to register for potentially compulsory military service, but the gender-equalizing reform threatens to make felons out of women who refused to participate.

Though prosecutions currently appear unlikely, men jailed for not registering with the Selective Service System and some former authorities who participated in the cases are concerned about criminalizing a large swath of the population.

Enforcement wasn’t always lax, and the law that may be applied to women allows for five-year prison sentences for “knowing and willful” non-registration with an equally long statute of limitations.

This is so much CRAP!  And yes I capitalized it because it is that much crap.

This may be a moot point…..there are some in the Congress that wants to do away with the draft altogether….but I think that is to protect the rich from actually having to serve this country than it is to protect women.

As far as I am concerned……if women are capable of doing the job then they should have the same chances as a man…..as far as the ruination of the family goes….NO one cares that the fathers have to go and the family has survived….the family will survive if women are sent to war.

Make Rape Legal!

Before I get attacked on all sides please read the post and do not condemn me for the title……it is not what you may think…….

The crime of rape is running rampant across the world….in India and Europe and Asia……it is as disgusting as crime as any…..

I saw an article awhile back and the title made me want to see what the Hell it was all about……..

Women May Go To War

Buried in the day….after the horrendous attack in California all eyes are on the story of the week…..but while we were trying to find the reason for the attack news came out that many have been waiting on…..

After decades of debate on whether women are capable of handling combat a decision has been made……afer women passed the rigorous training of the Rangers the debate got more intense….and a final decision has been announced….

Repealing a 21-year-old rule, defense secretary Ash Carter announced Thursday that all military combat positions will now be open to women, the New York Times reports. According to CNN, that includes about 220,000 jobs in reconnaissance, infantry, and more that had previously been open only to men. “Women will now be able to contribute to our mission in ways they could not before,” Carter says. “They’ll be able to drive tanks, give orders, lead infantry soldiers into combat.” While the previous restrictions kept women from moving up the ranks as quickly as male counterparts, they often found themselves in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq anyway, the Times reports. “It’s a thrilling day for women serving in the military—and for women across the country,” the co-president of the National Women’s Law Center says.

Politico reports the Marine Corps was against the move, pointing to an internal study that “suggested” combat units that included women weren’t as effective as entirely male units. But a Marine Corps study also found morale in integrated units was equal to all-male units, and sexual assault levels were no higher than in the Marines as a whole, according to the Times. Carter says a 50-50 gender split in combat roles is unlikely, as only a small number of women so far have met the “high physical standards” for certain units, CNN reports. He also says integration will not come at the “cost of combat effectiveness.” “The military has long prided itself on being a meritocracy,” Carter says.

There is an open question with the this decision…..all males when turning 18 must register with the draft board in case there becomes a need for the reinstatement of the draft…..the open question is…..now that women are not barred from combat….will they need to register also?

The news a month or so ago was about the 2 female Ranger trainees that made ot to the end and graduated….allowing them to proudly wear the Ranger tab on the uniform……

Even though these young ladies made it through the grueling Ranger process they will still NOT be allowed in combat……women have a way to go before the military is willing to allow them to fight alongside the men……

But across the world there are women fighting and dying alongside men in various conflicts……

If the media wants to celebrate women and their abilities in the military then may I suggest that they look NO further than the women fighting with the Kurds in the Middle East……

The Horror! A Plus Size Model

A couple of years ago I wrote a post about what happen to real women…..I admit it….I am an old fart and enjoy girl watching……but these days women seem to think they need NO curves and are a caricature of a stick person…….

I ask again what is so damn wrong with having curves?

There is debate going on about a “plus size” model……..

She marks the first inclusion of a plus-size model in the edition, though it’s important to note that Graham isn’t part of the editorial but stars in an ad for swimwear brand swimsuitsforall (whose website features plenty more shots). As Marissa Payne puts it at the Washington Post, “Hey, small steps lead to big steps sometimes.”

“I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too,” the 27-year-old tells Us Weekly, which reports Graham is no stranger to big-name magazines: She’s appeared in Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and Latina. A 2013 Forbes article sheds some light on what a moneymaker the issue has become. Launched in 1964, it brings in $1 billion (yes, billion) in revenue generated by everything from ad sales to sales of a namesake calendar.

Okay sports fans…..tell me what is so “plus” about this young lady?

Sorry she is far more sexy than some twig that has the same measurements from top to bottom……that has to stand up twice to make a shadow….or that if turn sideways and sticks out her tongue then she looks like a zipper……

Women’s News

I am an opinionated SOB and I like it……but I do not post much on issue that concern women….not that I do not care ….just I am male and I do not feel that I have the expertise to comment without sounding a little naive…….I do hope my female readers will forgive me and understand….

But from time to time there are some news that I just cannot back away from….today are a couple of those issues……

First, there is the idiot on the Right….I know that does not narrow the field very much so I will name names…Ann Coulter….this is a woman, and I use the term loosely, that just cannot shut the Hell up…….her newest babble is on the issue of rape……..

Coulter dismissed the notion of date or acquaintance rape out of hand, insisting that unless a victim gets “hit on the head with a brick,” it isn’t a legitimate rape.

“People know what a rape is,” Coulter insisted, “and to have girls trying to get attention — from Lena Dunham to this poor psychotic at UVA, Lady Gaga claiming she was raped but she didn’t admit it to herself for five years. What major crime do people say, ‘I didn’t admit it to myself?’”

In a second part of the interview, the 53-year-old pundit said that liberals are vastly overplaying instances of campus rape, which, in her experience is generally perpetrated by liberal men like the “Clintons and Kennedys,” anyway.

Oh there is so much ugliness I could spread about Coulter….but I will refrain and allow my readers to do it at their leisure……

Second….there will always be a Right wing legislator that, usually male, that has a “good” idea when it comes to rape…..and this guy is NOT one of those people….instead he is a galloping a/hole….if anything………

A bill proposed by a Republican state lawmaker in Missouri would require a woman seeking an abortion to obtain notarized consent from the baby’s father, even if he is physically abusive toward her.

The bill’s sponsor, State Rep. Rick Brattin, told Mother Jones that while the bill has exceptions for rape victims and to protect the life of the mother, women in domestic violence situations are not exempt from having to ask the father’s permission. “What does that have to do with the child’s life?” Brattin said. “Just because it was an abusive relationship, does that mean the child should die?”

In explaining the bill to Mother Jones, Brattin channeled Todd Akin, the former Republican congressman from Missouri who, during a failed 2012 Senate bid, said that women who are victims of “legitimate rape” have mechanisms in their bodies that prevent them from getting pregnant. Brattin said his bill would require a woman to be able to prove that a “legitimate rape” happened in order to avoid having to ask for a man’s consent for the abortion.

“Just like any rape, you have to report it, and you have to prove it,” said Brattin. “So you couldn’t just go and say, ‘Oh yeah, I was raped,’ and get an abortion. It has to be a legitimate rape.”

Okay….a legit rape?  Old white guys are the most pathetic of Americans……they are stuck somewhere between the 18th century and 1950……

When this d/bag passes a bowling ball through his penis…then only then may he have a right to speak.  PERIOD!
