Since 1980 the GOP has been the champion of the anti-choice movement…..they have put all their energy in protecting a fetus from termination and so far they have been successful.

In that time people like me has been preaching that fetus is all important, right of choice has no bearing, that the GOP cares for a fetus and yet once it is born there is no concern.

Now there is more proof that they care nothing for children….

RFJ, Jr, the slug in charge of HHS, has made another of his pronouncements and condemned many children to crisis….

Federal health officials have yanked millions in grants from one of their most outspoken critics, and the American Academy of Pediatrics says kids will pay the price. The Department of Health and Human Services this week canceled seven grants to the AAP worth an estimated $18 million, according to documents reviewed by the Washington Post. The money had funded programs on issues such as sudden infant death, adolescent health, rural care access, birth defects, early autism detection, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. AAP CEO Mark Del Monte said the sudden cutoff would “directly impact and potentially harm” children and families, adding that the group is weighing a legal challenge.

Administration officials say the grants were scrapped because the projects no longer match the department’s priorities. Termination letters cited the academy’s use of “identity-based language”—including references to “pregnant and postpartum people,” racism- and poverty-related health disparities, and commitments to “diverse perspectives”—as out of step with current CDC and HHS direction. One Health Resources and Services Administration termination letter said a youth health grant didn’t sufficiently emphasize nutrition and chronic-disease prevention. Internal emails show senior political appointees at the HHS and CDC pushing staff to cancel the awards swiftly.

The move comes amid an escalating feud between Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the AAP over vaccines. The academy has accused Kennedy of sidelining scientific advisers, dismantling the CDC’s independent vaccine panel, and weakening trust in immunizations. It has pushed back by making its own vaccination recommendations, reports the AP. The group has also criticized Kennedy’s promotion of leucovorin, a form of vitamin B9, for regular use with kids with autism, noting a lack of evidence on its benefits and risks, per Reuters.

Kennedy has responded by highlighting AAP’s funding from pharmaceutical companies and suggesting its COVID vaccine guidance for children may serve “Big Pharma benefactors,” per the Post. The AAP and other medical groups are already suing the HHS and Kennedy, arguing his changes to federal coronavirus vaccine policy breached the law and asking a court to reconstitute the panel of vaccine advisers. A former senior CDC official warned that cutting off groups like the AAP risks undermining the public health network that connects scientific evidence to everyday medical practice.

This opens up a bunch of health problems, both mental and physical, for children….

I have been telling you so…..at what point do the mindless idiots stop drinking the poison kool-ade?

For decades there has been some wild speculation on the assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK and only small amounts of info has been released to the public…..and the whining went on and it finally fell on the ears of the new Lord High Monarch……

There will be a release of more information on these killings….

An executive order signed by President Trump on Thursday calls for making thousands of documents related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. public. “Lot of people are waiting for this a long, for years, for decades,” Trump said, per CNN. “Give that to RFK Jr.,” his pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services, the president said when he finished with one pen. Another Kennedy descendant immediately criticized Trump’s decision. “There’s nothing heroic about it,” Jack Schlossberg, JFK’s grandson, posted on X.

Many of the documents connected to the JFK assassination have already been declassified, including 13,000 released during the Biden administration, though plenty have been redacted. Trump’s order gives the director of national intelligence and the attorney general 45 days to come up with a plan for releasing all RFK and King files, per CBS News. They’re given 15 days on the JFK files, though neither office has been filled yet. President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and RFK and King in 1968. “Everything will be revealed,” Trump told reporters at the signing, the Guardian reports.

Trump promised to release the files during the campaign. He said that in his first campaign but reversed once in office. The CIA, Pentagon, and State Department have held back files, saying it’s mostly to protect the identities of confidential sources who are still alive and safeguard the agencies’ methods, per CNN. Schlossberg suggested Thursday that people looking for evidence of conspiracy theories will be disappointed. “The truth is a lot sadder than the myth—a tragedy that didn’t need to happen. Not part of an inevitable grand scheme,” Schlossberg posted, saying that “declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back.”

Will the public learn anything they already do not know about these assassinations?

I know….I know….it is early and all this may not matter….but what if it does matter?

The anti-vaxxer, RFK, Jr, is considering running as a Libertarian and if he does the political elites of both parties are beginning to take notice after being dismissive of his possible candidacy.

While many “experts” still dismiss the possibility of an independent or third-party candidate winning the election, there seems to be a bit more hand-wringing and whistling past the graveyard amongst both Democratic and Republican operatives. Most especially as there is now a possibility that Kennedy may run on the Libertarian Party ticket.

Outlined on this site earlier this week in a piece titled “RFK Jr.’s possible Libertarian bid rankles Democrats,” that possibility is duly noted. As is the growing fear of certain Democratic operatives. And trust me, it is not just Democrats who are viewing that possibility with a great deal of nervousness. It is Republicans as well.

The main reason being — as spelled out in the piece — that by becoming the standard-bearer for the Libertarian Party, Kennedy would be significantly more likely to get on state ballots, including key battleground states.

Democratic strategist Doug Gordon said, “Hijacking the Libertarian Party ballot line won’t change his odds of winning the presidency, which he has no chance at. But it does increase the odds he could play spoiler and hand the keys to the White House back to Trump.”

To paraphrase Hamlet, “Methinks the strategist doth protest too much.”

Democratic and Republican elites fear RFK Jr.’s growing path to victory

I know all you self-styled independents do not want to hear that a third party is becoming strong enough to challenge the idiots in the two parties….but there it is.

There is still a long way to go before we have the dash for the finish line in 2024….but now is the perfect time to look at candidates and possible candidates for you support.

Personally I have a problem with these anti-vaxxers and would never vote for someone so callous….it would do nothing to improve the plight of the people of this country.

But that is just me.

In The Shadow Of RFK

As an old fart I remember when ‘Bobby’ ran for president and would most likely have won the nomination but his campaign was cut short by a bullet.

I bring this history up because Biden has announced he will seek re-election and he will have a challenger, for now, in RFK,Jr…

Most knowledgeable people know him basically from his anti-vaxxer stance……put he does have other facets as well…..

Robert Francis Kennedy, Jr., near the very beginning of his April 19 announcement to run for President in the Democratic Party spoke these words:

“Fifty-five years ago last month, I sat as a 14-year-old boy behind my father as he now announced in a Senate caucus room in Washington, DC, his campaign for President of the United States. And my father at time was in the same, in many ways, the same position that I’m in today. He was running against a President of his own party. He was running against a war. He was running against – he was running at a time of unprecedented polarization in our country.”

In this way the son tells us right away that he is “running against a war,” Joe Biden’s cruel US proxy war against Russia using Ukrainians as cannon fodder.

He reminded us that his father was given very little chance of winning and felt he would likely lose. But on the day of his assassination, RFK had won the California primary, an urban state, and South Dakota, a rural state. The son is telling us that his is a candidacy not to be written off lightly. RFKJr was polling at 14% among Biden voters even before he announced. And nearly 44% of Democrats want anybody but Biden, with only 25% wishing him to run in 2024.

A video of the entire two hour long speech, impressive in many ways, is to be found here and a transcript here. Kennedy did not read from a prepared text although the speech appeared to be carefully outlined. It had a refreshing air of informality. And it deserves a careful listen.

Many of the points in the speech are summed up in the section on “Peace” in RFKJr’s campaign website, Kennedy2024.com, as follows:

Annual defense-related spending is close to one trillion dollars. We maintain 800 military bases around the world. The peace dividend that was supposed to come after the Berlin Wall fell was never redeemed. Now we have another chance.

“As President, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will start the process of unwinding empire. We will bring the troops home. We will stop racking up unpayable debt to fight one war after another. The military will return to its proper role of defending our country. We will end the proxy wars, bombing campaigns, covert operations, coups, paramilitaries, and everything else that has become so normal most people don’t know it’s happening. But it is happening, a constant drain on our strength. It’s time to come home and restore this country.

When a warlike imperial nation disarms of its own accord, it sets a template for peace everywhere. It is not too late for us to voluntarily let go of empire and serve peace instead, as a strong and healthy nation.”

And on Ukraine:

“In Ukraine, the most important priority is to end the suffering of the Ukrainian people, victims of a brutal Russian invasion, and also victims of American geopolitical machinations going back at least to 2014. We must first get clear: Is our mission to help the brave Ukrainians defend their sovereignty? Or is it to use Ukraine as a pawn to weaken Russia? Robert F. Kennedy will choose the first. He will find a diplomatic solution that brings peace to Ukraine and brings our resources back where they belong. We will offer to withdraw our troops and nuclear-capable missiles from Russia’s borders. Russia will withdraw its troops from Ukraine and guarantee its freedom and independence. UN peacekeepers will guarantee peace to the Russian-speaking eastern regions. We will put an end to this war. We will put an end to the suffering of the Ukranian people. That will be the start of a broader program of demilitarization of all countries.

“We have to stop seeing the world in terms of enemies and adversaries. As John Quincy Adams wrote, ‘Americans go not abroad in search of monsters to destroy.’

Those are strong words and realistic categories like “empire,” “proxy wars,” “coups,” “geopolitical machinations going back to 2014,” all ugly imperial facts alluded to euphemistically or not at all in the mainstream media.

This is not to say that we should accept all of RFKJr’s words at face value. But given the present enthusiasm for war in every corner of the Democratic Party’s political establishment and among much of its base, it is difficult to see RFKJr’s candidacy as opportunistic. His candidacy deserves to be treated skeptically like all candidacies but not cynically. The speech should be listened to carefully in that spirit.

I disagree with him on the vaxxer thing but I have no problem with some of his statements and so-called ‘plans’…..

His vaxxer thing will be the attack points from his adversaries.

Research your choices before you vote….the big picture should always be the deciding point not some narrow vision.

50 years ago Bobby Kennedy was assassinated on the campaign trail in LA……some say if that had not occurred he would have won the Democratic nomination and ultimately the presidency.

Recently I wrote that his son, RFK, Jr has said that he believes there were 2 shooters maybe more when his father was shot….

But let’s think about the 1968 election…..let’s look at history as if RFK had won the election….what would that mean to the US?

It is one of history’s great “what ifs.” What if Robert Kennedy had not been assassinated 40 years ago and gone on to become president of the United States? It’s safe to say that his presidency would have followed a different course from that of Richard Nixon. And it may just be that American politics would not be endlessly refighting the 1960s. Kennedy was a less polarizing figure than Nixon, who exploited the divisions that have now hardened into Red States and Blue States. But Kennedy himself was a complex and mercurial figure, so all we can really do is speculate. It’s an intriguing guessing game—if one does not get too dreamy about the mythology of RFK.

One reality check to start: it is far from a sure bet that RFK would have been nominated, and if nominated, elected. Kennedy was winning most of the primaries at the time of his death in June 1968, but under the old rules the bosses still controlled the Democratic Party. Hubert Humphrey, LBJ’s vice president and Kennedy’s real rival for the nomination (not Sen. Eugene McCarthy, the poet-politician who was fading in the stretch), was the favorite of the bosses. Kennedy was regarded as too “hot” and too radical by the big city and Big Labor chieftains. RFK was counting on Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley to turn the tide, but Daley was not a sure bet (despite some romantic and unconfirmed reporting that Daley promised his support in a phone call to Bobby just before Kennedy was killed). And RFK would have faced a formidable foe in Richard Nixon in November. The New Nixon was an expert at divide and conquer, and he was building a Silent Majority of white middle-class Americans fearful of rioting blacks and hippie college radicals.

Believe it or not he has fallen into the conspiracy ranks about the shooter in 1968…..

Nearly a half-century after bullets took the life of Robert F. Kennedy, Sirhan Sirhan, the man convicted of firing those bullets, has an unlikely defender: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The slain presidential candidate’s third-eldest child tells the Washington Post that “I got to a place where I had to see Sirhan” because “I was curious and disturbed by what I had seen in the evidence” and “disturbed that the wrong person might have been convicted of killing my father.” After a three-hour jailhouse visit with the convicted assassin in December—a conversation he won’t discuss in detail—Kennedy Jr. says he believes that there was a second shooter at the Ambassador Hotel on June 5, 1968, and that Sirhan did not fire the fatal shots. Kennedy Jr., who was 14 when his father was assassinated, is now calling for a reinvestigation into his death.

He joins Paul Schrade, who was also shot that night, but survived. The case isn’t without evidence: Sirhan was standing in front of Kennedy, but the autopsy showed that the fatal shots hit Kennedy from behind. Evidence in later years showed that as many as 13 shots were fired, though Sirhan’s weapon held only eight bullets. “Yes, he did shoot me. Yes, he shot four other people and aimed at Kennedy,” Schrade says. “The important thing is he did not shoot Robert Kennedy.” Says Kennedy Jr., “Once Schrade showed me the autopsy report, then I didn’t feel like it was something I could just dismiss. Which is what I wanted to do.” Sirhan has long held that he has no memory of the assassination, and some witnesses have said there was a second shooter.

This should be good for a couple TV shows and a possible movie deal…..

But if an innocent man was sent to prison then there should be some sort of restitution made.

It is June 1968 in the Ambassador Hotel LA and RFK is giving a speech after winning the California primary when shots rang out……

Senator Robert Kennedy is shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the California presidential primary. Immediately after he announced to his cheering supporters that the country was ready to end its fractious divisions, Kennedy was shot several times by the 22-year-old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan. He died a day later.

Death Of A Statesman–1968

Today is the day we acknowledge a couple of historic events…..1944–D-Day Landing and 1968–assassination of Robert Kennedy…..I am sure lots of bloggers will be writing on the anniversary of the Landing so I will leave that for better minds….Me?  I want to talk about RFK.

I was serving my first tour in Vietnam when I got the news of the assassination….a bummer….we all knew that RFK would beat the pants off Nixon and we would have a good, descent person as prez….but all that was cut short in LA…….,

In April of 1968 the leader of the civil rights movement MLK was assassinated in Memphis and I knew that whole country would erupt into violence and such…..and I was right….It did….with the exception of Indianapolis and it was quiet for one reason….RFK against all advice from handlers and local police wanted to go into the inner city and talk to the people……..he did just that and gave a speech that he wrote which pissed off his speech writers because it was a better speech than any of them could have written……

Ladies and Gentlemen – I’m only going to talk to you just for a minute or so this evening. Because…

I have some very sad news for all of you, and I think sad news for all of our fellow citizens, and people who love peace all over the world, and that is that Martin Luther King was shot and was killed tonight in Memphis, Tennessee.

Martin Luther King dedicated his life to love and to justice between fellow human beings. He died in the cause of that effort. In this difficult day, in this difficult time for the United States, it’s perhaps well to ask what kind of a nation we are and what direction we want to move in.

For those of you who are black – considering the evidence evidently is that there were white people who were responsible – you can be filled with bitterness, and with hatred, and a desire for revenge.

We can move in that direction as a country, in greater polarization – black people amongst blacks, and white amongst whites, filled with hatred toward one another. Or we can make an effort, as Martin Luther King did, to understand and to comprehend, and replace that violence, that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land, with an effort to understand, compassion and love.

For those of you who are black and are tempted to be filled with hatred and mistrust of the injustice of such an act, against all white people, I would only say that I can also feel in my own heart the same kind of feeling. I had a member of my family killed, but he was killed by a white man.

But we have to make an effort in the United States, we have to make an effort to understand, to get beyond these rather difficult times.

My favorite poet was Aeschylus. He once wrote: “Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God.”

What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.

(Interrupted by applause)

So I ask you tonight to return home, to say a prayer for the family of Martin Luther King, yeah that’s true, but more importantly to say a prayer for our own country, which all of us love – a prayer for understanding and that compassion of which I spoke. We can do well in this country. We will have difficult times. We’ve had difficult times in the past. And we will have difficult times in the future. It is not the end of violence; it is not the end of lawlessness; and it’s not the end of disorder.

But the vast majority of white people and the vast majority of black people in this country want to live together, want to improve the quality of our life, and want justice for all human beings that abide in our land.

Let us dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world.

Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people. Thank you very much. (Applause)

Re-read that speech……and again and again……..

Now ask yourself…do you see anybody in politics today making such a speech?  Ted Cruz?  Rick Perry?  Rand Paul?  Pick a politician and ask yourself if they are capable of being a statesman…..the answer will most likely be….NO!

Our politicians today are clowns that perform for the camera….country is only secondary and used as a political prop.  When we lost Bobby we lost a true statesman…..a statesman the likes we may NEVER see again.  Bobby had moral compass that is sadly missing in today’s political world……HE IS MISSED!
