Joy! Joy! Yesterday was my doctor day and I am happy to report that I am here for at least another 2 months….some may dread my return and others rejoice….whichever is yours I want to thank you guys for all the time you spend with me here on IST…….
Let’s get busy!
How many times have you heard this from the conservs on the web?
They talk a mean game but not one of them has any idea how to do that …..without using military force.
It is a great slogan….and Trump-ster is using it as his campaign motto…..but so far the person using it has not giving one idea of how he will accomplish his promise.
I mean the net is crawling with people that write about what went wrong….usually it is all Obama’s fault….like so many other problems in this country…..but again they cannot point to the issues of Obama’s that has dragged the country down……other than “he is weak”…..and that is about as helpful as saying “the sky is blue”…..

Sad that you judge the greatness of a country by its ability to kill……its ability to wage war……if anyone had ever tasted war first hand then they would tell you that there is NOTHING great about it.
My post was originally posted on Progressive Independence, which is a good sight and all should visit and get involved…..just go to blogroll and enjoy.
Health Care….this one subject is at the heart of the country right now…..72% of the American people want reform and about none of the politicians seem to want reform…now they are playing the cowards game of tweaking the system so that it will play well in Congress.
$3.66 trillion budget deficit…..or is it a $2 trillion….or $1.2 trillion…just what is the deficit and when does it get out of control? Or do you really care? I mean your elected officials are telling the country that you care….but do do you?
Our country is in serious straits noe…health care needs fining…..Wall Street needs to be bitch slapped…..the environment needs fixing….lots of problems need fixing…..why?…they ALL have been ignored for decades and now it is come calling.
If you are old enough…think back to the ’70’s there were a wealth of plans to help make the US energy independent….but they were not popular with the new administrations so the problem was tweaked, if anything was done at all. The in the 90’s health care was important and instead of refom and fixing the problem…all settled for a tweaking and the problem got worse….which seems to be a common thread to ALL Washington’s past tweakings.
Politician’s always settle for a tweaking instead of a real solution to pressing problems. Why? A wealth of reasons….keeping contributors happy….looking to re-election…..there is a number of reasons….and NONE of them actually helps the people they represent. And unfortunately, all the tweaking has cost more money in the “much mentioned” long run than it would have if they had had the guts to pass real reform.
Basically all the BS about the deficit is a smoke screen to cover the cowardice of the elected representatives. Yes, I said cowardice! Tweaking is a coward’s way out.
If the American people truly want reform then they need to find politicians with guts and brains….two qualities that are sadly missing in the flock of cowards we now have in Washington.
The whole AIG thing is just so much bullshit!
Especially when the CEO of AIG Liddy talks.
Liddy, a former board member of Goldman Sachs—the investment house believed to have received a large portion of the bailout money after it was “laundered” through AIG’s insurance contracts—fired back an extraordinary letter telling the government to get lost.
“Quite frankly, AIG’s hands are tied,” he wrote, claiming that the bonuses were “binding obligations”—part of the executives’ employment contracts—and interfering with them could provoke lawsuits. Moreover, he argued that they were fully warranted, despite the massive losses for which those receiving them were responsible. Without doling out a billion in additional compensation, he claimed, AIG would be at risk of losing “the best and the brightest to lead and staff the AIG businesses.” Employees would leave if “their compensation is subject to continued and arbitrary adjustment by the US Treasury,” he said.
First of all…CRAP!….retention of people? Would these be the same people that screwed up everything in the past? Why woul;d you want them to stay? A better question is where will these pricks go? If all WallStreet sucks, then they have choices, huh?
“The best and the brightest?” The executives in AIG’s financial division ran an unregulated credit-default swap operation that was just as much a scam as Bernie Madoff’s fund, and far more destructive.
The obvious question is: where precisely are these “best and brightest” going to go if they fail to get their hundreds of millions in bonuses? The market for this type of financial parasitism has collapsed, dragging down with it the livelihoods of millions upon millions of working people. Rather than getting bonuses, those in charge of the financial manipulations carried out by AIG and its partners should be on the receiving end of criminal investigations.
Let me see…thge treasury controls the cash that it gives out and Geithner says there is nothing he can do to stop the bonus pay outs……may I suggest a “stop payment” on their checks from the government.
Is the Federal government so impotent that it cannot control what is done with its money? Or is it more that they do not want to do anything that would harm Wall Street? I still do not understand why the American people are not more pissed at this type of story. The American people are truly a flock of sheep, if they allow this type of crap to continue. If you want to fix things then get rid of the a/holes you have in Washington, they are NOT helping.
