Breaking News……
Trump, our Dear Leader, and Vlad held a news conference and it was nothing that was a surprise to anyone that has an IQ above their shoe size…..
Dear Leader did what I thought he would do….throw a hand-grenade into the pit of world affairs….
If you support dear leader’s meeting with Vlad went well….and if you oppose him then this was so many opportunities missed and nothing surprising…..for he is a weakling in the presence of Vlad…..
President Trump and Vladimir Putin met for two hours Monday—about 30 minutes longer than allotted—and both emerged afterward sounding dismissive about allegations that Russia meddled in the 2016 election. Some highlights:
- Putin denial: The Russian president dismissed the notion of “so-called Russian interference” in the election. “I had to repeat that the Russian state never interfered, and does not plan to interfere in internal American electoral process,” he said, reports the AP.
- Trump denial: “There was no collusion,” Trump said, per the Washington Post. “I didn’t know the president. There was nobody to collude with. There was no collusion with the campaign.”
- A ‘disaster’: Trump said the two “spent a great deal of time” discussing the allegations, and he called the investigation into them “a disaster for our country” that has “kept us apart,” reports the Wall Street Journal. “We ran a brilliant campaign, and that’s why I’m president,” he said.
- Desired outcome: Did Putin want Trump to win? “Yes, I did,” he said. “Because he talked about bringing the US-Russia relationship back to normal.”
- Intel community: Asked whether he believed Putin’s denial or US intelligence reports concluding that Russia did, in fact, interfere in the election, Trump sounded skeptical of the intelligence reports. “I don’t see any reason why it would be” Russia, he said. Trump also complained about the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server in his response. Watch it here.
- Cold War: It’s a “thing of the past,” said Putin, adding that he and Trump worked to “restore an acceptable level of trust.” On that note, Trump reiterated that he thought US-Russia relations had “never been worse” just prior to Monday’s summit. “That changed, about four hours ago,” he said.
- A deal, with a catch: Putin suggested that US investigators could go to Russia to take part in the interrogation of 12 Russian intelligence officers recently indicted in the Robert Mueller investigation. But there’s a catch: “Let the Mueller commission send us a request, and we will do the work necessary to respond,” Putin said. “We can expand this cooperation—but we will then also expect from the US side access to people who we believe are members of the intelligence agencies.”
- Similar praise: Putin called the meeting as “successful and useful” and said it took place in an “open and businesslike atmosphere.” Trump called the meeting “a good start, a very good start for everybody.” The two leaders met one on one, with only translators present.
- Watch it: The White House has video of the full news conference here.
The president said that US-Russian relations have changed forever……
Personally, he looked like a star struck groupie when he was in the presence of Vlad……sad for this country…..sad for the future.
Much has been said about the president’s use of a teleprompter, most of it criticism, but really guys, is that a necessary story that needs so much attention?
I mean what about the rise in violence in Afghanistan, or the next round of Americans to be deployed to Afghanistan or the IMF saying that the economic situation could lead to many conflicts and possibly war or the KBR got a contract to unscrew their shower screw up in Iraq, on and on……
I believe I can find lots to write about and the teleprompter would not be anywhere on the list, until I see all the crap being reported. Something has to be said. You have got talking heads saying just how unnecessary it is, but they are working off a teleprompter. I have watch some commentators on FOX and MSNBC, to mention only a few, that have turn this into something it is not…..a story and news.
Personally, I find this whole thing a bit unprofessional, petty and extremely pathetic. And these people are the ones that bitch the loudest about bloggers…sorry, had to chuckle just a bit.
The president that is. Last night he held his very first “official” prime time presidential news conference. How did he do?
First of all, yes he is ready for his prime time appearances. He has always been ready for prime time. He handled himself very well even when asked the same question over and over. Okay, I gave him his props on appearance , now what about substance?
As with all the buzz out of the admin, there are plenty of bolts but not much in the ways of nuts to tighten up the solutions. The opening statement from President Obama and nearly all the questions revolved around the administration’s economic policies, with the discussion focused largely on the twin preoccupations of the US ruling elite: that every effort should be made to guarantee the wealth and profits of Wall Street, and that sufficient sacrifices should be imposed on the American people.
So, the substance, IMO, was not there for the average working stiff. It was all about saving Wall Street and the Banks that have made life miserable for most of us living on Main Street. We are asked to give the president some time for his policies to work in our favor. But so far all the policies I have looked at are for the survival of profits on Wall Street.
He is asking the people, the workers, to further sacrifice and yet the bailouts keep being handed out to the very people that should be doing ALL the sacrificing.
In the end, he is ready for prime time and he is ready for the survival of Wall Street and he is ready to sacrifice the middle class to achieve this end.
Recently, Pres. Obama held his first official news conference as president of the US. Most of his comments were about the trials and tribulations of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Plan as it makes its way through the Congress. Personally, I thought it was a well given and acted performance. He was cleasr and explained stuff rather simpoly so that most America could understand what he was saying. I give him a thumbs up on that part.
However, in my opinion, he began to fall apart when the questions were asked. The first question came from AP’s Jennifer Loven she asked about his rhetoric of the plan’s wording say that he was dumbing down the dire consequences. Obama set off to explain why he was making the situation so dire. All in all it was a good answer until he came to the part and said, “What I won’t do is return to the failed theories of the last eight years that got us into this fix in the first place, because those theories have been tested, and they have failed. And that’s part of what the election in November was all about.”
That is just so much BS! Bank bailout–Bush, tax cuts–Bush, massive spending–Bush. He cannot say that he is changing the direction of government when he is using the same logic that was employed by Bush and the Boyz.
I do agree that some form of intervention is needed and the Repubs and that damn reoccurring “tax cut” thingy is not the way to go. I personally would prefer a more incremental approach…..spend and see how it works and then spend some more with adjustments and see how it works and so….
Sorry guys–Obama is using basically the same failed theories of the past eight years. Now when was that change suppose to come about?
