Pro And Con Of Mayor Pete

College of Political Knowledge

#8 in Series

Mayor Pete is having a good couple of weeks…..first in Iowa then in New Hampshire and had a pretty good debate….but now he is getting more scrutiny than before.

Still early in the process but there is a saga being presented for Mayor Pete…Pro and Con……

Let’s start with the “Pro”…….

The begin with the source of this article is a conserv site that supports Trump mostly….take it for what it is…..

The Democratic primary has rapidly devolved into a bitter squabble between 78-year-old socialist Bernie Sanders and 78-year-old billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Former vice president and 77-year-old train enthusiast Joe Biden is also technically running. The self-described “party of the future” appears to be doing everything in its power to ensure a second term for President Donald J. Trump.

The most youthful Democrat with a realistic shot at the nomination is Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of Indiana’s fourth-largest city who won’t shut up about the time he studied abroad in Afghanistan. He’s riding high after strong finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire but is in for a rude awakening once the voting starts in states that aren’t dominated by his core demographic of wealthy whites with graduate degrees and West Wing fetishes.

Now for some anti Mayor Pete news……

This is from FOX News (do I need to tell your where their loyalties lie?)….and interview with Mayor Pete’s brother-in-law……

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg‘s brother-in-law, Pastor Rhyan Glezman, slammed the Democratic hopeful for his comments Tuesday night, when the candidate claimed he doesn’t see “any compatibility” between supporting President Trump and the teachings in Scripture after declaring that God “does not belong to a political party.”

“Yeah, in the height of intellectual dishonesty for Pete to make claims that there’s no compatibility with being a Christian and voting for Trump, [when] Pete, in fact, is the one who is pushing agendas and rhetoric that is against, clearly against Scripture,” Glezman said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight

Neither of these stories do I agree with in any shape or form……all of it sounds more like oppo research for the Trump camp in the upcoming general election

After the Nevada vote Mayor Pete is acting like the spoiled child candidate….he lost but he will not go on until his little tantrum is over…..

Pete Buttigieg’s campaign has a few requests of a Nevada State Democratic Party “in light of material irregularities” in state caucuses still being tallied, CNN reports. The campaign asks the party to “release early vote and in-person vote totals by precinct,” “correct any outstanding second alignment errors identified by presidential campaigns,” and “explain anomalies in the data.” Team Buttigieg is the first to doubt the Nevada results that—with 60% of precincts counted—have Sen. Bernie Sanders ahead with a crushing 46%, followed by Joe Biden (19.6%), Buttigieg (15.3%), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (10.1%), and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (4.8%), per the New York Times.

So this is about challenging Biden for second rather than Sanders for first, as the Buttigieg letter makes clear. But does it hold any water? Politico notes there’s been talk of some precinct volunteers and voters getting confused about how Nevada’s early voting was included in individual precinct results. It was also the state caucuses’ first try at early voting, and nearly 75,000 took part. Meanwhile, state party official Molly Forgey has responded thusly to the Buttigieg letter: “We never indicated we would release a separate breakdown of early vote and in-person attendees by precinct and will not change our reporting process now,” she writes in part. “As laid out in our recount guidance, there is a formal method for requesting a challenge of results.”

You lost in Nevada just move on to South Carolina.

Biden And Mayor Pete

Seems the media has found the two most favorite candidates to promote…Biden which is not surprise and Mayor Pete which is a bit of a surprise until you look deeper and see that he, Pete, is of the same ilk as Biden….both are Corporatist….big money Dems….

To listen to them both and one can see that the Corporatism and militarism are going hand in hand….

Eager to hedge their bets, Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg have offered merely tactical critiques of President Trump’s decision to kill Qassim Suleimani. In sharp contrast to Elizabeth Warren and especially Bernie Sanders, the gist of the responses from Biden and Buttigieg amounted to criticizing the absence of a game plan for an atrocious game that should never be played in the first place.

Many journalists have noted that only in recent days has foreign policy become prominent in the race for the 2020 nomination. But what remains to be addressed is the confluence of how Biden and Buttigieg approach the roles of the U.S. government in class war at home and military war abroad — both for the benefit of corporate elites.

Let’s be clear: More than 50 years ago, when Martin Luther King Jr. bravely condemned “the madness of militarism,” he was directly challenging those who included the political ancestors of the likes of Buttigieg and Biden — Democratic politicians willing to wink and nod at vast death and destruction, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, equivocating while claiming that the war machinery would operate better in their hands.

Biden and Buttigieg Are Showing How Corporatism and ‘the Madness of Militarism’ Go Together

Foreign policy has been sadly missing from most of the Dem debates but I have the feeling that the next on before the primaries begin will be a focused foreign policy.

Maybe then we can find some light between the so-called “centrists”…..I think not but I am open to the possibility.

Just a side note if one is thinking of a Biden vote…..40m years ago he wanted to cut social security…..

As early as 1984 and as recently as 2018, former Vice President Joe Biden called for cuts to Social Security in the name of saving the program and balancing the federal budget. Last week, Sen. Bernie Sanders highlighted Biden’s record on Social Security in prosecuting the case that Biden isn’t the most electable candidate. The issue could be raised again in Tuesday night’s debate.

After a Sanders campaign newsletter continued the attack on Biden’s Social Security record, the Biden campaign complained to fact-checkers at Politifact that his comments were being taken out of context. Placed in context, however, Biden’s record on Social Security is far worse than one offhand remark. Indeed, Biden has been advocating for cuts to Social Security for roughly 40 years.

And after a Republican wave swept Congress in 1994, Biden’s support for cutting Social Security, and his general advocacy for budget austerity, made him a leading combatant in the centrist-wing battle against the party’s retreating liberals in the 1980s and ’90s.

Biden Proves He Will Say Anything For A Vote

I have been saying that this country does not need another Clintonian candidate for the nomination. The media has decided that the best thing for the country is a spineless corporatist (Read….centrist)…this time it is Biden…..and to a lesser extent Mayor Pete.

But Biden will show his cowardice by saying that he might choose a GOPer as VP……

Joe Biden says he’s open to sharing the Democratic ticket with a Republican if he’s nominated, but there’s one problem: He can’t think of a suitable one. A woman at an event in New Hampshire on Monday told Biden that her 21-year-old son was wondering if he would consider a Republican running mate, CNN reports. “The answer is I would, but I can’t think of one now,” Biden said. “You know there’s some really decent Republicans that are out there still, but here’s the problem right now … they’ve got to step up.”

Biden has said he would prefer a running mate “of color and/or a different gender” and hasn’t ruled out former rival Kamala Harris or current rival Elizabeth Warren. “Whoever I would pick for vice president, and there’s a lot of qualified women, there’s a lot of qualified African-Americans. There really truly are,” he said Monday. “There’s a plethora of really qualified people.” There hasn’t been a president and vice president from different parties since the Civil War, although John McCain wanted Democrat-turned-independent Joe Lieberman as his running mate in 2008, reports Reuters. Under pressure from his fellow Republicans, he chose Sarah Palin instead.

THis does nothing to help his case to be the Dem candidate to take on Trump…..he sounds like the babbling fool the president is….and do we really want another mindless toad as president?

Typical BS from a centrist……there is NOTHING courageous about Joe Biden.

Not to worry there is Mayor Pete waiting in the wings for Biden to stumble……yet another “corporate candidate”….but I do not trust this person and I am not alone…..

Hill.TV host Saagar Enjeti dismissed South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg‘s debate performance, saying the White House hopeful shouldn’t be taken seriously as a top-tier candidate in the crowded 2020 Democratic field.

“Pete Buttigieg last night asked us all to take him very seriously, and unfortunately, it was revealed that he is a fundamentally unserious candidate,” Enjeti said Friday.

“Not only from his polling with African Americans but with his dated calls for change, while not actually changing anything,” he added, pointing to Buttigieg’s campaign fundraising tactics as a prime example.

Buttigieg was a top target on Thursday’s debate stage, facing criticism over his experience and fundraising practices.

Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) had the most significant clash of the night after the Massachusetts senator made a passing remark about candidates who take big-dollar donations.

“I can’t help but feel that might have been directed at me,” Buttigieg said, before defending his fundraising practices and noting that Warren also took money from large donors before launching her presidential bid.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also ripped Buttigieg over his fundraising strategy, comparing him to fellow contender, former Vice President Joe Biden.

“My good friend Joe, and he is a good friend, he’s received contributions from 44 billionaires. Pete on the other hand, is trailing, Pete,” Sanders said from the debate stage. “You only got 39 billionaires contributing.”

The attacks come amid a renewed focus on Buttigieg, who has ascended the early state primary polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

Pete’s National Service

Remember a couple of months ago and the Texan Beto was the Dem candidate of hopey change?  The candidate that the MSM was trying to force feed to the American public.

Well he has slid in the polls replaced by a Mayor of South Bend…..

There has been an uproar on the Left by something Mayor Pete Buttigieg proposed…..a National Service.

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on Monday night advocated a form of national public service for all young adults as a way to create unity among Americans.

“We really want to talk about the threat to social cohesion that helps characterize this presidency but also just this era,” the mayor of South Bend, Ind., told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. “One thing we could do that would change that would be to make it, if not legally obligatory, but certainly a social norm that anybody after they’re 18 spends a year in national service.”

Buttigieg mentioned that for him and several former presidents, including John F. Kennedy and George H. W. Bush, serving in the military allowed them to meet and build trust with people of starkly different backgrounds, education and income. Buttigieg served in the Navy from 2009 to 2017, including a deployment to Afghanistan. Buttigieg and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) are the only current Democratic presidential candidates who are veterans.  (Since writing this draft another vet entered the race Rep. Seth Moulton of Mass.)

Buttigieg was vague about what would constitute national service, but both he and Maddow acknowledged it would most likely not be a military draft. Without saying the program would be mandatory, Buttigieg did suggest colleges and employers ask applicants about participation in it.

My take as a Leftist is it is a good idea. There is NO shared experience by the people of this country. We allow 1% to do the heavy haul for all of us.

I consider myself an antiwar person……I am also a realist….if we are going to ever end our endless wars then we need a more shared experience in experiencing the horrors of armed conflict.

I have been wrestling with this decision on my part……I agree with Mayor Pete that this country needs to find a way for all its citizens to contribute to the country and all its people…..as it is now all we do is snipe at each other on social media……that is n way to strengthen our commitment to the health of the nation.

Mayor Pete stopped short of re-instituting the draft….sadly there is NO greater way to share a sense of community than by fighting endless wars by all the people.

Did not another Dem candidate suggest a “national service”?

Eleven years ago I wrote that I was not down with national service……but after 18 years of people insulting fellow Americans and endless wars…I have changed my mind….I am still antiwar but end these wars I must embrace some policies that I think suck…..then so shall it be……

In case the country has forgotten…….I shall remind you…..

https://lobotero.com/2008/09/12/national-service-not-lip-service/

For now Mayor Pete is the hope of the DNC…….but they sit and wait for Biden to make up his aging mind.

For me….he is the perfect centrist……the perfect candidate for corporate America…….he is the perfect candidate this country does not need.

BTW…the MSM is down with Mayor Pete….they will help all they can in his campaign……

Personally, I do not want the MSM deciding my candidate for me…..how about you?
