Syria–The Clock Is Ticking

The news came down that Syria has once again used chemical weapons on its citizens….about  year ago trump had to make a similar decision…..(read about it here)….

https://lobotero.com/2017/04/10/syrian-airfield-photos/

This should have been the lead because of the raid on Trump’s lawyer’s office……at this point….who cares?  We are about to attack a sovereign nation and possibly kill Russians or Iranians or Syrians and we are focused on some damn lawyer thing.

On Monday the president said that he would decide the response to the chem attack……..

President Trump on Monday said he would decide how to respond to a suspected chemical attack in Syria within 48 hours, reports the Hill. Trump had previously condemned the “animal Assad” by tweet over the civilian deaths, but he addressed the matter in person Monday with reporters. “It was atrocious. It was horrible,” said the president. “This is about humanity and it can’t be allowed to happen.” Trump said he’d be meeting with his national security team—including new national security adviser John Bolton, who starts Monday—to figure out the next steps. “If it’s the Russians, if it’s Syria, if it’s Iran, if it’s all of them together, we’ll figure it out,” he said.

Earlier Monday, defense chief Jim Mattis also called out Russia, reports USA Today. “The first thing we have to look at is why are chemical weapons still being used at all when Russia was the framework guarantor of removing all the chemical weapons,” he said. “And so, working with our allies and our partners from NATO to Qatar and elsewhere, we are going to address this issue.” The White House has asked the UN Security Council to launch an independent inquiry into the attack. (The US military hit a Syrian air force base last year, and one big question is whether Trump will be more aggressive this time.)

There is a familiar timeline on this situation….you may check it out here……

An alleged new ‘chemical incident’ in Syria reminds of a similar series of events we saw last year. We are told to believe that each time the U.S. pulls back from the war on Syria the Syrian government is responding with a ‘chemical attack’ that pulls the U.S. back in.

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2018/04/timelines-of-gas-attacks-in-syria-follow-a-similar-scheme.html

Trump was very vocal on how he  feels about these attacks on children…….and yet wants to know why we cannot killed the families of alleged terrorists with drone strikes…..

Trump has said “this is about humanity and we cannot let this go on”…….what about Yemen?  What about the deaths in Palestine?  Where does he draw the line on humanity?

Do not forget the babble that comes out of Nikki Haley’s mouth…..she is the consummate hypocrite….her fake outrage does NO one any good…..her idle words fall on deaf ears…..

We will see how many people the US action will cost….will it be note worthy?

It’s WMDs–Once Again

Not long ago the Syrian military was accused of using CWs on the civilian population and that caused a missile response by the Trump admin….and for weeks afterwards the big story was the use of these weapons and where Syria got them since they supposedly had all theirs destroyed in the early days of this conflict.

Of course Russia was the culprit during these debates and that has since died down….but then there was a new twist to the CW thing…..and it involves ISIS this time…..

A US official warns ISIS could be getting all its chemical weapons experts together in a “chemical weapons cell” in a last-ditch effort to defend its remaining territory in Syria. CNN reports the unnamed official says the experts are from Iraq and Syria and haven’t previously worked together. “We know ISIS is willing to use chemical weapons. This is not something we want to see them get good at,” says Col. Ryan Dillon, a spokesperson for the US-led military coalition in Syria.

The unnamed official says the chemical weapons cell is convening in an area of ISIS-controlled Syria that the US military is getting more interested in. The official says the area in the Euphrates River Valley could now be the “de facto” ISIS capital as military pressure increases on Raqqa. Syrian forces are said to be tightening “their noose” on that ISIS stronghold, according to Reuters.

Now this should revive the whole false flag thing about the original use of these weapons……did ISIS use them in the first place?  Did the US overreact before the truth was fully known?

Yes it is not a good thing if ISIS is developing CWs for use in Syria and possibly elsewhere.

Will we know the truth about this or will we just hear more and more about who has these weapons and who has used these weapons?

I for one will wait until the “rest of the story” comes out.

Was Syria A False Flag?

Before I begin the Syria post there is some sad news to report……another US service man has been killed in action…..

A U.S. service member has been killed during an operation against al-Shabab militants in Somalia

The U.S. military said Friday that the service member was killed near Barii, Somalia, approximately 40 miles west of Mogadishu.

The statement from the military’s Africa Command said U.S. forces were conducting an advise and assist mission alongside members of the Somali National Army.

The story about the use of chem weapons on the civilian population of a Syrian town lead to the response by the US….a multi-missile strike on a Syrian airfield and then that event slid from the news and more sensational news took its place…..

Behind the scenes there has been rumblings that the alleged attack was a lase flag….

False Flag?

False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one’s own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy’s strategy of tension.

Newsbud.com is reporting…..The Geopolitical Report, we look into the alleged gas attack used as a pretext to attack Syria. Despite a lack of evidence Syria had anything to do with the attack, the Trump administration and the propaganda media in the United States told the American people both Syria and Russia are responsible. From ambassador Nikki Haley’s theatrical performance before the United Nations Security Council to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s assertion the attack was a false flag, we examine different aspects and put them into the context of a previous sarin gas attack in Ghouta, Syria, an attack attributed to so-called rebel groups fighting to overthrow Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad and his government.

Could this be possible?

Several veteran intel officers have written a letter……

Two dozen former U.S. intelligence professionals are urging the American people to demand clear evidence that the Syrian government was behind the April 4 chemical incident before President Trump dives deeper into another war.

AN OPEN MEMORANDUM FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

After reading several articles on this attack it has given me pause……NOW I want to know the “rest of the story”….would not be the first time the government has lied to get what they wanted…..

Is Gas Worth The Price?

America’s latest attack on Syria was a result of the supposed use of Sarin gas by Assad on the local population…….the US called it a humanitarian response….a punishment for the use of the gas Sarin.

We have had all sorts of info come out about the attack…the reason, the result, the excuse……pics have been released about the gas attack results and pics about the result of the missile attack on the Syrian airfield…..but so far I have seen nothing that would be proof positive of the attack and who committed it…..

I have been researching the intel (the intel available to us mere mortals, that is) and I found some interesting articles that my readers may find informative…..

But I have found a few pieces about the gas and the intel……

A four-page white paper, prepared by President Trump’s National Security Council staff and released by the White House on Tuesday, claimed that U.S. intelligence has proof that the plane carrying the sarin gas left from the Syrian military airfield that Trump ordered hit by Tomahawk missiles on April 6.

The paper asserted that “we have signals intelligence and geospatial intelligence,” but then added that “we cannot publicly release all available intelligence on this attack due to the need to protect sources and methods.”

I believe the sources were revealed….sigint and geospatial sources…..

Then there is this “white paper”…..does not really give much in the way of proof…..

I am responding to your distribution of what I understand is a White House statement claiming intelligence findings about the nerve agent attack on April 4, 2017 in Khan Shaykhun, Syria. My understanding from your note is that this White House intelligence summary was released to you sometime on April 11, 2017.

I have reviewed the document carefully, and I believe it can be shown, without doubt, that the document does not provide any evidence whatsoever that the US government has concrete knowledge that the government of Syria was the source of the chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun, Syria at roughly 6 to 7 a.m. on April 4, 2017.

As long as I am writing about a sarin attack I thought that you guys could profit from a knowledge of what a sarin bomb attack entails…..

The recent chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun in Syria is alleged by witnesses to have been delivered by an air-dropped bomb.  The purpose of this article is to systematically break down a Sarin bomb into its components and analyse what happens to them.  This first part addresses the contents of the bomb and how these components interact with the environment.

What’s in an air-dropped Sarin bomb? A Sarin bomb will contain more than just Sarin.

I will post “part 2” when it becomes available……

I hope that that this information is helpful to those that are, like me, looking for answers.

The Spicer Side Of Life

Okay in the last day the whole country has gone batcrap crazy over something that Sean Spicer said in his presser….it seems that he tried to compare Hitler and Assad but as usual he inserted a foot in mouth and his performance became the story of the day.

But in case you have been under your rock for 24 hours then let me help out……

Sean Spicer is being hit with a wave of criticism—the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect is even calling for his firing—after he said Hitler wasn’t that bad compared to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, at least in one specific area. “Hitler didn’t even sink to the level of using chemical weapons,” Vox quotes the press secretary as saying during a press conference Tuesday. CNN reports there was an “audible gasp” from reporters following the comment. Understandable, because Hitler, in fact, used gas to kill millions of Jews in the Holocaust. He also used gas to kill disabled people and other groups.

Spicer only dug himself deeper when he attempted to clarify what he meant. “He was not using the gas on his own people in the same way that Assad is doing,” Spicer said. “He brought them into Holocaust centers, I understand that.” That clarification managed to invent a new term for concentration camps and possibly imply that German Jews were not real Germans. Spicer finally specified that he meant Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons on the battlefield, USA Today reports. Despite insisting he wasn’t “trying to lessen the horrendous nature of the Holocaust,” the Anne Frank Center is accusing Spicer of Holocaust denial. Spicer’s original point, now firmly buried by his invocation of Hitler, was that Russia shouldn’t continue to support Assad.

As a rational individual I believe I know what he was trying to say….no Hitler did not use gas on the battlefield but yes he did use gas on his people in the death camps…oh sorry we are calling them “Holocaust Centers” now…..

Now Spicer f*cked up…..he has walked back his screw up….now time to let it go.

The needed a new story for the facts on the missile strike was getting thin….so they needed something to fixate on and BAM!  Spicer made it happen.

But for my part Trump needs to find a new press sec because this is not the first time he has inserted his foot….Trump needs someone who can think on the fly without having to walk back everything he says daily.

He be sorry….now LET IT GO!

Analysts On Syrian Missile Strike

Last night the US launched 59 missiles at the air base that supposedly launched the gas attack on Syrian civilians….

There will be all sorts of speculation and if you prefer that on the MSM then please by all means get the analyses from them….but below is war analysts on war and conflict have to say……

“There can be no future for Assad and his regime in Syria. It is good that the Trump Administration has recognized that the regime must go in order for negotiated settlement to occur. Demonstrating American will to use military force is a necessary first step. President Trump still needs a larger strategy to achieve the outcomes that US national security and humanity require.
– Jennifer Cafarella

“Immediate strikes do not preclude a more robust strategy. In fact, they open the door to it.”
– Jennifer Cafarella

“We will change everyone’s calculus, and that starts a clock. Our adversaries and enemies will recalculate. The U.S. must move out smartly to achieve its strategic objectives in Syria, which include but go beyond preventing Assad from murdering his own people.
– Jennifer Cafarella

“Assad has reminded the U.S. and the world that his military campaign – and that of his external backers – is a crime against humanity.  President Trump is upholding America’s commitment to international law, as he should.”

– Jennifer Cafarella

“Assad could not survive, let alone conduct systematic atrocities such as his repeated use of chemical weapons and other crimes against humanity, without the active support of Russia and Iran.  Assad will not stop until they withdraw their unconditional support for his brutality.
-Genevieve Casagrande

Deterrence is a persistent condition, not a one hour strike package. President Trump has demonstrated his intent and capability to use American force if necessary. He must sustain pressure against Assad in order to set conditions to achieve vital US national security interests in Syria.”
“The Trump Administration has begun to re-establish the credibility of an American military response, essential to creating conditions for a durable negotiated settlement.”-Christopher Kozak
(from the ISW blog)
This will have little effect on the war raging in Syria…..Assad may think a little harder before reusing chemical weapons but the rest of the war will continue as is….it was a play to show Iran and North Korea what is available…….this may accomplish something that will aid Trump…his approval rating may go up a bit….beyond that it will be business as usual.

When A Good Man Goes To War

It’s official!  50+ missiles fired at a Syrian air base……

The United States has attacked a Syrian air base with roughly 60 cruise missiles in response to a chemical weapons attack it blames on President Bashar Assad. US officials say the Tomahawk missiles were fired from two warships in the Mediterranean Sea, targeting a government-controlled air base in Syria, reports the AP. The move comes after US officials accused Syrian aircraft of killing dozens of civilians by using chlorine mixed with a nerve agent, possibly sarin, earlier this week. President Trump, who had said the Syrian attack crossed “many, many lines” for him, said Thursday night that it was in the “vital national security interest” of the United States to stop the use of chemical weapons.

Syrian state TV reported a US missile attack on a number of military targets and called the attack an “aggression.” The Washington Post notes that the US attack brings with it a heightened risk of confrontation with Syria supporters Russia and Iran. Russia initially defended Assad after the civilian deaths, saying that government airstrikes had hit chemical weapons being stored illegally by rebels. But on Thursday, a Kremlin spokesman made a point to say that its support was not “unconditional.” Hundreds of US troops are currently stationed in Syria, advising local forces ahead of an assault on the city of Raqqa, an ISIS stronghold.

How did it come to this?

A couple of days ago chemical weapons were used in Northwest Syria on a civilian population…..and as usual there is no shortage of finger pointing as to the culprit of use.

The day of the attack an unusual suspect was taunted as the cause……

An apparent chemical attack that killed scores of people Tuesday is being called one of the worst atrocities of the Syrian civil war—and President Trump blames his predecessor. The “heinous” actions of the Assad regime “are a consequence of the past administration’s weakness and irresolution,” Trump said in a statement, per NBC News. “President Obama said in 2012 that he would establish a ‘red line,’ against the use of chemical weapons and then did nothing.” Syrian activists say at least 72 people, including many children, were killed in a regime airstrike on a rebel-held town in Idlib province.

Obama did it!

Before the attack our napping SecState made a statement about Assad and Sen. Rubio is claiming that statement lead to the attack…..

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said Wednesday that he doesn’t think it’s a coincidence that a suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria occurred shortly after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson suggested Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad could remain in power.

“In this case now, we have very limited options and look, it’s concerning that the secretary of state, 72 hours ago or a week ago, last Friday, said that the future’s up to the people in Syria on what happens with Assad. In essence almost nodding to the idea that Assad was gonna get to stay in some capacity,” Rubio said on the show “AM Tampa Bay.”
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that a few days later we see this,” Rubio concluded.
This attack has the politicos using Tillerson’s words to accuse…..now I am in no way a supporter of Tillerson but this is just silly to blame him as if Assad was waiting for “permission” to use chemical weapons.
Even our new UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, has gotten on her moral high horse……..
Scores were killed in Syria’s Idlib province on Tuesday in what the New York Times calls “the worst chemical attack in years” in the war-torn country. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime is saying it had nothing to do with it, and Syrian ally Russia is also deflecting blame, claiming that an airstrike hit a “terrorist” chemical weapons workshop in Khan Sheikhoun, dispersing the poison, now widely believed to have been a nerve agent like sarin gas. But members of the Trump administration, as well as other US politicians, are now blasting Vladimir Putin for protecting Assad, with UN Ambassador Nikki Haley taking the lead at a UN Security Council gathering Wednesday, the Washington Post reports. “How many more children have to die before Russia cares?” she asked at the special session that was prompted by a request from Britain and France.
“When the U.N. consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action,” Haley told the U.N. Security Council at an emergency meeting called in response to Tuesday’s suspected chemical attack in Syria’s northern province of Idlib.
Just days before the attack she echoed what Tillerson had said…….
Some are noting that just last week, Haley said removing Assad from power was no longer a US priority and that the US had to “pick and choose” its battles; Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also said last week that Assad’s fate was now up to the Syrian people, per Reuters.
America did what it always does….mounts its high moral horse…..and all the while ignoring the children in Yemen and Palestine…just another indication of the hypocrisy.
Threats abound….will Trump take this opportunity to launch a “surprise” attack on Assad?  Trump has said this attack is “beyond the red line” and “would not be tolerated”…..
What will be the response?  First who used the chemical weapons?  Maybe it would be a good idea to know who used these weapons before we jump head long into the fire.
The U.S. government and the mainstream media rushed to judgment again, blaming the Syrian government for a new poison-gas attack and ignoring other possibilities,
With the latest hasty judgment about Tuesday’s poison-gas deaths in a rebel-held area of northern Syria, the mainstream U.S. news media once more reveals itself to be a threat to responsible journalism and to the future of humanity. Again, we see the troubling pattern of verdict first, investigation later, even when that behavior can lead to a dangerous war escalation and many more deaths.
Before a careful evaluation of the evidence about Tuesday’s tragedy was possible, The New York Times and other major U.S. news outlets had pinned the blame for the scores of dead on the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad. That revived demands that the U.S. and other nations establish a “no-fly zone” over Syria, which would amount to launching another “regime change” war and would put America into a likely hot war with nuclear-armed Russia.
Do we need to wait for “Frat Boy” Jared to come home from his time in the spotlight so he can flip the coin for his daddy-in-law”?

Iraq: OMG! Please Not Again!

Remember the good old days when the airways were full of the lie of Iraqi WMDs?  Remember our knee jerk response to the lie was to invade Iraq and bring them security and democracy?

Just how did that work out for us?

In those days the media played an integral part of the massive deception of the American people to support a war we knew would bite us in the butt……but we could not let Saddam use those weapons again.  He had already gassed his own people, the Kurds to be exact……

Do you recall that after years of invasion and searching there were NO WMDs to be found…..remember that?

Well sports fans the media is at it again!

Gassing Iraqi Kurds was considered one of Saddam Hussein’s most heinous crimes, and American officials now suspect that ISIS is doing the exact same thing—and it may be using Saddam’s old weapons. Officials believe the militants used mustard gas, a chemical weapon banned worldwide in 1993, against Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq this week, reports the Wall Street Journal. The group’s battlefield use of the agent is obviously an extremely worrying development, officials say, and it’s not clear how ISIS obtained it: It could be from one of Saddam’s old stockpiles or from stockpiles in Syria, where President Bashar al-Assad claimed in 2013 that all the regime’s mustard gas had been destroyed.

“If they do possess these kind of weapons,” Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff tells CNN, “my guess is they’re more likely to have gotten them as old weapons left over in Iraq from the old WMD program there than they were likely to obtain them in Syria in some kind of a hidden cache of the regime’s.” ISIS seized the Saddam regime’s old chemical weapons plant last year, though officials said at the time that anything left there was probably useless. US officials have downplayed the risk to American personnel in Iraq, saying they’re not engaged in combat and, in any case, mustard gas “has to be used in high concentrations to be fatal,” the Journal reports. (In the years after the 2003 invasion, the US government

OMG!  Here we go again!   WMDs were used in 1990 and again in 2003…..seems like every 12 years or so they must make the case for a war in Iraq…..

Is this the open salvo from the media to gain popular support for sending in the troops to do the heavy lifting against ISIS?

Are the American people really that STUPID?
